PREMIER MINISTRY PARTNERS Since 1982, The National Christian Foundation (NCF) has helped thousands of people give close to a billion dollars to the ministries and causes they believe in – rather than to the federal government in the form of taxes. NCF helps: Individual givers make a greater impact with their charitable giving, give practically any asset entrusted to them and balance their giving with income needs. Ministries and churches offer their supporters innovative ways of giving, which can lead to significant new funding for their organization. Professional advisors (financial planners, CPAs, attorneys and others) offer their clients charitable giving expertise, which builds stronger client relationships.

To learn more, visit NCF on the web at www.nationalchristian.com or call 800.681.6223.

Crown Financial Ministries is a merger of two ministries: Larry Burkett’s Christian Financial Concepts and Howard Dayton’s Crown Ministries. Crown’s mission is to train Christians to handle money from God’s perspective. It offers biblically-based advice on various areas of personal/family finance, including budgeting, debt reduction, charitable giving and investments. Crown’s primary vehicle is a very wellattested small group Bible study designed for use at the local church level.

Generous Giving was launched in 2000 by The Maclellan Foundation, a recognized leader in Christian grant-making for 60 years. Generous Giving’s mission is to motivate followers of Christ toward greater biblical generosity, and encourages givers to live with open hands to God. Through relationships and experiences, thousands are realizing the joy of giving, and resources are being deployed for God’s purposes around the world.

2010 KINGDOM ADVISORS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

LARRY BURKETT AWARD T. RANDALL FAIRFAX, CFP®, HIGHLAND CONSULTING ASSOCIATES, CLEVELAND, OHIO Randy Fairfax understands that faith is worked out in experiences and relationships. Every day, at Highland Consulting Associates, he offers purposeful, biblical guidance to his clients, as he takes to heart the faith-lessons of his own life. A a young man, Fairfax spent a year As preparing for a mission trip abroad, only to come up $100 short with one day left. That day, an anonymous donor provided the funds that allowed him to take the trip, leaving a lasting impression of God’s provision. The h experience i power off that permanently impacted Fairfax, who still seeks to trust God in all and who sees himself as a steward of God’s resources. During his early years in banking, Fairfax saw that many clients were negatively impacted by a combination of “less than optimal” technical tools combined with the inherent confusion, lack of security, and family communication issues surrounding finances. He also realized that the Bible addresses all of these areas and applies to both believers and non-believers. The realization that he could help clients “exercise biblical Truth, whether they personally believed it or not,” gave Fairfax greater purpose in his professional life. While he understands that “wealth creates loud noises, unintended distractions, and confused perspectives for people,” Fairfax knows that by bringing biblical wisdom into a client conversation, he can clarify confusion by seeking to “inform, understand, ask the right questions, and advocate on their behalf.” By bringing Truth to bear on client relationships, Fairfax finds that clients are better able to steward their resources intentionally, exercise greater generosity, and understand their purpose. Over his life, Fairfax has been impacted by the Christian influence of close family members, pastors, friends, and other servant leaders in the business world. He sees ministry as “using the tools, abilities, and resources I have where I am to enjoy and reflect God’s goodness and glory.” Because he humbly embraces life’s experiences and the influence of godly relationships, Fairfax willingly and confidently takes his faith to the marketplace each day. Randy Fairfax, CFP® and Qualified Kingdom Advisor™, received a BS in Accounting and MBA in Finance from The University of Akron. He is active in Kingdom Advisors as a leader of the Cleveland Community, the Charitable Giving Group, and the Business Group, as well as being a Task Force member and an advisor-coach. Fairfax and his wife, Courtney, attend The Chapel and have three grown children: Ryan (married to Laura), Jordan (married to Rachel), and Breanne. 2009: 2008: 2007: 2006: 2005:

Beginning in the early 1970s, while on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, Larry Burkett began to teach the Body of Christ how to apply biblical wisdom to their financial affairs. As founder of Christian Financial Concepts, which later became Crown Financial Ministries, Burkett’s ministry had a tremendous impact, the results of which will benefit generations to come. He was a spiritual giant in his generation. Early in ministry, Burkett recognized the importance of the role that professional advisors play in encouraging the financial decisions of their clients. He had a desire to develop a generation of godly financial professionals who would integrate biblical wisdom into their counsel. Kingdom Advisors is a product of Burkett’s work and vision. Beginning as the Christian Financial Planning Institute in 1997, Kingdom Advisors has grown to over 4,000 members and is committed to training an army of Christian financial professionals who are passionate about helping their clients manage their financial resources according to God’s timeless wisdom. In appreciation of Burkett’s life and his desire to see a network of Christian financial professionals, Kingdom Advisors established the Larry Burkett Award. This award recognizes annually a Christian financial professional who has demonstrated by their life and work those qualities that epitomize what Burkett desired to see in a Christian financial professional: • An evangelical faith and fervor • Christian character in its most complete sense • Unparalleled professional competency • Integration of biblical wisdom into all of their advice and counsel The award reminds the Kingdom Advisors’ community of the debt owed to Larry Burkett for his ministry and motivates us to live out of his vision in our professional lives.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT AWARD JAMES L. UNDERWOOD, CPA/PFS, CFP®, AEP TARPLEY & UNDERWOOD FINANCIAL ADVISORS LLC, ATLANTA, GA Jim Underwood and Harvey Tarpley, met at church when Underwood was young. When they started Tarpley & Underwood in 1978, they shared a desire to live out their faith in the marketplace. For many years, that faith was evidenced informally in their practice. However, a few years ago, in response to a desire to clarify the integration of biblical wisdom in their practice management, they formally defined their mission and core values around biblical principles. One of those core values is: “We are o a world view that is guided by biblical principles and an focused on acknowledgement acknowle of our Creator.” Un While Underwood and his fellow shareholders have long shared a relationship relationsh with Christ in common, clarifying their mission and core values ha has helped them be intentional in making biblically based decisions. decisions They now:

The vision of Kingdom Advisors is to equip and motivate Christian Financial Professionals to serve the body of Christ by implementing biblical wisdom into their lives and practices. Christian financial professionals should not only be knowledgeable about the biblical principles that apply to the stewardship of God’s resources, but also strive to integrate those principles into the advice they give to their clients. However, the application of biblical wisdom does not end with the client. It is essential for a Christian Financial Professional to incorporate these principles into the management and operation of their practice as well. Kingdom Advisors created the Kingdom Advisors Practice Management Award to recognize Kingdom Advisors Members who have intentionally and systematically integrated their faith into their financial services practice. The Kingdom Advisors Practice Management Award recognizes:

• Have Ha a benchmark for making decisions to ensure that their clients clie receive biblically based advice. • Believe that by delivering professional services with excellence Be and an integrity, doors will be opened and clients will be drawn to the biblical values that undergird his firm. Additionally, Additiona as advisors practice from a Christian worldview, they, “earn the right to be heard” by their clients. Underwood Underwoo believes that integrating faith and practice is about “understanding “understa and living biblical values, evidenced by how you treat and advise others.” He says, “we bend over backwards to do what’s the right thing for the client, as opposed to what might be in our financial b best interest.”

• Outstanding integration of biblical principles in practice management. • Creation of a unique biblical culture which exemplifies Jesus Christ and results in a lasting impact on clients, staff, vendors, and community. • A practice from which Kingdom Advisors members can learn from and emulate.

FOUNDATION AWARD

GENEROSITY AWARD

JEFF THOMAS, MORGAN STANLEY SMITH BARNEY, HOUSTON, TEXAS

STEVE SCALICI, MERRILL LYNCH, JUPITER, FLORIDA

Kingdom Advisors awards an advisor who partners with a local Christian w foundation to maximize generosity in their clients’ lives. Local foundations allow individuals to give strategically to advance Kingdom purposes. Kingdom Advisors, which partners with local A Christian foundations around the country, recognizes Jeff Thomas of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, for his partnership with the Houston Christian Foundation. w In Thomas’ words, the Houston Christian Foundation is, “a community that has come together to promote generosity in the name of Christ. It has helped me communicate and execute for clients with resources I’ve never had.” The relationship between Thomas and the foundation was an answer to Thomas’ struggle to discover the best practices for presenting biblical wisdom to clients, without hitting them over the head with chapter and verse. Thomas’ turning point of generosity happened when a spiritual mentor told him, “you’d better be living what you are teaching.” That advice prompted Thomas and his wife to make giving the first priority in their budget. They became convinced of their need to be Kingdom-minded in their finances. Subsequently, Thomas connected with local foundation president, Peter Forbes, who shared how working with the local foundation and becoming a member of Kingdom Advisors could allow Thomas to begin to reach his goals of: • becoming more intentional about delivering biblical wisdom to clients, and • teaching other advisors how to do the same. Through his involvement with the Houston Christian Foundation, Thomas has fulfilled his dreams of sharing biblical wisdom with clients. He says that his journey felt like, “God had told me to build a sailboat. I was doing it in my garage, building a Sunfish that had a crooked mast and a hole in the bottom. After I cleared the barrier of becoming more generous personally, God brought me a relationship with Peter Forbes. He showed me the America’s Cup Racer, gave me a sweater, and brought me on board.” Jeff Thomas, CPA and Qualified Kingdom Advisor™, holds a B.S. in Business from Trinity University in San Antonio. Barron’s listed Thomas as one of the top 1000 financial advisors in 2009. Thomas contributes to Kingdom Advisors as an advisorcoach, a study group leader, and a Task Force member. He and his wife, Dolly, live in Houston with daughters Ally (17) and Sophie (9).

The T Generosity Award recognizes an advisor who models generous giving in their own life and who shares the power of generosity with clients. Faith-driven generosity brings transformation to individuals’ hearts and lives, and, in turn, empowerment to Kingdom work. The Generosity Award goes to Steve Scalici of Merrill Lynch, whose story of personal growth in generosity, and its impact on his client interaction, is inspiring. Over the last eight years, Scalici and his wife, Apryl, have been on a journey of generosity. After reading Randy Alcorn’s book, Money, Possessions, and Eternity, the couple prayed and wrote down what they felt God was telling each of them to give. They both wrote 15%. A year later, they repeated the exercise and both wrote down 20%. About a year later, Scalici was impacted by the fifth principle in Alcorn’s book, The Treasure Principle, which says, “God prospers me not to increase my standard of living, but rather my standard of giving.” This principle challenged the couple to look at their finances differently. They talked and prayed, and, in the end, decided to cap their lifestyle. While the freedom of living a set lifestyle and giving the excess away has been transformational for Scalici and his family, another powerful transformation has occurred in the way that he counsels his clients. He has found that, “Many people are exactly where we were. They spend money just because they can.” By sharing the fact that they have chosen to cap their lifestyle, Scalici finds that the door opens to conversations about generosity with clients. He is convinced that the power of a real story is very powerful. “No one can dispute your story.” Is generosity good for business? Scalici says, “It’s actually a poor business model. We get paid for the assets we manage; yet we tell them to give them away. I can’t explain how it works, but it does. That’s not why I encourage them to give, but I can’t complain about the results. The best part has been seeing the light go off for my clients and being able to influence them in this area of generosity.” Steve Scalici, CFP and Qualified Kingdom Advisor™, has a BS in Finance/Banking from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He and his wife, Apryl, have daughers Hannah (10), Abby (7), and Emma (5). They attend Christ Fellowship and are involved with youth through Urban Youth Impact and the Heath Evans Foundation. Scalici has written for Good News of South Florida, Crosswalk, and is involved with Kingdom Advisors as a Community Group leader, a Charter Member, and a Task Force member.

CROWN FINANCIAL MINISTRIES AWARD

COMMUNITY AWARDS

ROGER SULHOFF, PRIVATE CLIENT ADVISORY, INC., GAINESVILLE, GEORGIA

God has tremendously blessed our Kingdom Advisors Communities & Study Groups over the last year. We are honored to serve and support every Community, every Study Group, and every leader who has made a commitment to make a difference in the lives of our Kingdom Advisors members. Thank you for your passion and effort and we look forward to an exciting new year with you!

Crown Financial Ministries seeks to “Equip C people worldwide to learn, apply, and p tteach God’s financial principles so that they may know Christ more intimately, be free to serve Him, and fund the Great Commission.” The partnership between Crown and Kingdom Advisors is longstanding, and the parallel purposes of both organizations create a synergistic relationship. The Crown Financial Ministries Award celebrates an advisor who utilizes Crown’s ministry offerings as an extension of his or her own personal ministry. Roger Sulhoff was a reluctant convert to Crown classes. After “years” of hearing about the class, he and his wife found it impactful beyond what they expected, and he has been spearheading his own Crown movement ever since. His involvement began as a small group co-leader and he went on to serve on the Crown board at his church. He began recommending the class to clients and friends. Then, as one who was building a network of securities offices across the country at the time, he began recommending Crown to his more than 575 representatives. Sulhoff says, “I never looked at volunteering and doing Crown as creating an asset to my practice.” However, as Crown became more integrated with his professional life, client relationships improved. His ability to communicate improved because he was on the same page as clients who had biblically-based understanding of budgeting, cash flow, estate, and charitable planning. Sulhoff has since sold his national offices. He and his son, John, opened Private Client Advisory, Inc., a Family Wealth Management firm, in Gainesville, Georgia. Upon becoming involved at Lakewood Baptist Church, Sulhoffs’ passion for Crown ignited a program there, and in four years, 500 people completed Crown classes. Sulhoff also organizes “Business By The Book” seminars in North Georgia. Currently, he leads the Crown Special Edition series in his weekly men’s group. In addition to Crown, he serves on the Global Advisory Council of Vision 360, The Heritage Foundation Presidents Council, and Kiwanis International, and is an elder at Mount Paran Church of God. He served on the board of the International Association For Financial Planning and is a recipient of numerous industry awards. Sulhoff holds a Bachelors of Business Administration and served seven years US Army Active Reserves. Roger and his wife Nancy have four sons, two daughters, five spouses and nine grandchildren.

We are also proud to recognize and celebrate several Kingdom Advisors Communities for outstanding development and achievement for the last year! Kingdom Advisors is presenting 7 Annual Community Awards at the conference. We ask you to join us for this special moment during our Thursday afternoon General Session. Congratulations to these Kingdom Advisors Communities for a job well done!

For more than 20 years, the Robert Pittenger Company (RPC) has researched, evaluated, and purchased undeveloped land in the path of urban growth areas. Through a proven strategy of acquiring property, where the potential for development has been clearly demonstrated, RPC offers exceptional land purchasing opportunities to its investors. To date, RPC has acquired and invested in excess of $200 million of undeveloped land. Our success in determining future paths of progress in stable growth regions earned annual returns on average of 20% IRR (compounded annual rate) net to our investors. 2010 KINGDOM ADVISORS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

RON BLUE • SESSION ONE SESSION ONE NOTES - TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9

Ron Blue Ron serves as President of Kingdom Advisors and on the Board of Directors of Campus Crusade for Christ and The National Christian Foundation. Ron founded Ronald Blue & Co., LLC in 1979 out of his conviction that Christians would better handle their personal finances if they were counseled objectively with the highest technical expertise and from a biblical perspective. It’s About

FAITH

Every day we are faced with choices in life. As Christians, we are able to see where God allows us the choice to be faithful stewards of all that we own, including how we manage His assets. There is a choice to make as financial professionals as to where those assets are invested. At the Timothy Plan, we will not invest in companies actively undermining biblical values. Do not miss this opportunity to learn more about what your clients may already know. STOP BY

PASSION & PURPOSE • BREAKOUT SESSIONS WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 10 - PASSION & PURPOSE BREAKOUT SESSIONS

10:00 A.M.

11:15 A.M.

“2010 Market Outlook”

“Run a More Effective Practice Using Focus Days”

Bob Doll - Grand Ballroom

Paul Anthes - International Ballroom F

Navigating financial markets in the midst of the current economic realities can be challenging at best. Join Bob Doll, Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Global Equities at BlackRock, Inc. as he shares his insights on the state of the global economy and his predictions for the markets and the best performing sectors for 2010. Come prepared to learn new ideas to position your clients portfolios in preparation for an economic recovery.

The best coaching programs utilize various types of days with a specific focus to help business owners effectively run and manage their businesses. Join us for this breakout session to examine the most effective types of days including focus days, non-vocational ministry days, buffer days, free days, and personal days. Get ready to enhance your personal, business and ministry effectiveness as we explore best practices for regaining focus in your practice.

“Discovering Your Purpose: Exploring Why You Are Here” Ken Boa - International Ballroom F One of life’s fundamental questions relates to the critical issue of coming to grips with our purpose for being in this world. This session will focus on: • The need for purpose (being) • Biblical principles of purpose (knowing) • Discovering your unique purpose (doing)

“Building the Bridge from Calling to Stewardship” Bob Shank - International Ballroom D For the committed Christian, Kingdom Calling and Kingdom Stewardship are both important considerations. But these factors are often addressed as standalone components, rather than interconnected considerations. In this workshop, we’ll discover that Kingdom Calling is the vision for which Kingdom Stewardship becomes the strategy. Are you clear about your Kingdom Calling... and are you ready to assist your clients in the pursuit of theirs?

“Strategic Visionary Planning”

North Tower M2/International Ballroom Breakout Workshops

Gordon D’Angelo - International Ballroom E Gordon D’Angelo, Chairman and CEO of NEXT Financial Holdings, shares about the power of Strategic Visionary Planning. “Where there is not vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). The concept of God’s power can be called upon with accuracy and abundance. You can positively engage a multitude of lives creating predetermined positive outcomes. Your visionary plan is a powerful part of God’s plan. Find out how accessing God’s inspiring energy in visionary form can empower your life.

“Adding Intuition and Precision to Asset Allocation with Dedicated Portfolios” Steve Huxley - International Ballroom A Clients sometimes have only a hazy understanding of the rationale behind their stock, bond, and cash allocation. The nuances of classic modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, and standard deviations can hardly be called intuitive concepts, especially for retirees. Dedicated portfolios provide a powerfully intuitive way to bring precision to the asset allocation decision. Coupled with lifetime planning, the asset dedication process can provide protected income streams over personal time horizons and lead to allocations that clients easily understand.

“The Christian Centered Law Practice” Dave Brown, J.D. - International Ballroom B David Brown, Principal Attorney of California based Brown & Streza, LLP, will give attorneys insight into the growth, sustainability, and Kingdom-oriented prosperity of his estate planning, business planning, and succession planning law firm, through their implementation of Christian principles. David will provide insight on his own journey as an attorney and Christian, as well as provide practical tools/best-practices for a Christian-centered law practice, by taking a faith-based approach, not only with clients, but with staff, associate attorneys, accountants, and financial planners.

“Building Deeper Relationships by Freeing Clients to Pursue Their Vision”

“Developing a Growth Strategy for Your Practice”

Sanford Coggins - International Ballroom A An extraordinary life begins with a vision. You can help your client enhance their vision by your ability to ask profound questions, and use intentional listening and feedback skills to assure the client that “You Get It!” Synthesize and apply best practices to achieving your client’s dreams by helping them navigate around their own personal roadblocks to the freedom of pursuing their vision. Join us for this session and learn how to enhance client relationships by helping them change the legacy they leave to their families.

“Let’s Get Practical: Ten Creative Giving Strategies for Your Planning Tool Box” Jay Link - International Ballroom D This session will introduce ten creative ways your clients can dramatically increase their Kingdom giving (without writing a check) while at the same time take care of their own financial needs and still provide their heirs an appropriate inheritance. You will see how to employ each of these different charitable planning tools. Then you will see how by strategically combining some of these tools together you will realize an even greater increase in planning leverage and Kingdom impact.

“Discovering God’s Economy for your Business and Client Relations” Sharon Epps - International Ballroom B There’s a battle between man’s systems and God’s design. No matter what the economic, political or social climate, we know that God is the solution. But how do we connect the dots in practical ways? In this session, we will explore the divine integration of the mystery of God’s Lordship with our stewardship and generosity. We will provide practical tools to discover God’s economy for yourself and your clients. You will know you’ve made the transition when you are spiritually renewed, stewarding wisely, and generously living!

“Confronting the Big Issues Keeping You From Integrating Your Faith and Your Practice” Rusty Leonard - International Ballroom E Rusty Leonard will take a hard look at the practical and philosophical obstacles all advisors face as they sincerely seek to meld their faith and their practice together. Rusty will discuss the issues he faced in his own journey from a top secular money manager to one who has committed to integrate his work and faith in a manner that honors the Lord. Rusty will also address the most common and toughest objections he faces to the Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) approach used at Stewardship Partners. Please join us for what is sure to be a provocative and thoughtful session.

“Managing Conflict with Clients, Coworkers, and Vendors: Keys to Success”

In this breakout session, we will explore the advisor growth options, considerations, and critical success factors. In addition, we will look at the industry growth data and examine the industry value proposition evolution. This valuable and insightful session will give you the foundation to execute an effective growth strategy for your firm.

“Journey of Generosity: A High Impact Event for You and Your Clients” Todd Harper - International Ballroom A There are many factors that enrich our spiritual growth, but none more surprising than the depth that comes from exploring The Journey of Generosity. Hosted by an individual, couple or organization, these gatherings are guided by a Generous Giving facilitator and expose participants to the life changing message of generosity while engaging the heart around the topic of giving. Learn how you can utilize this powerful tool with your clients.

“Building a Power Culture - Finding the Pillars During the Storm” Doug Buce - International Ballroom D This dynamic presentation is designed to help financial professionals identify and implement differentiating pillars within themselves and their business culture to create a practice that matters. Humility based leadership, unique divine design, psychological leveraging, and a passion for consistent execution are addressed in a way that will leave participants motivated, inspired, and focused on amplifying life impact.

“Taming the Paper Tiger in a Digital World” Barbara Hemphill - International Ballroom B When you are born, you get a birth certificate. Your ability to find that document and the tens of thousands of other items that will come into your life from that day forward will directly impact the quality of your work, your life, and your relationships - even your memory. Time is your most valuable asset whether you want to get more done - or work fewer hours - getting organized is the key to increased profit, productivity, and peace of mind.

“Why Should You Play To Your Strengths?” Andy Goddard - International Ballroom E Unfortunately, most of us have little sense of our true talents and strengths, much less the ability to build our lives around them. Guided by our parents, teachers, managers and others in our world, we become experts in our weaknesses and spend our lives trying to repair these flaws, while our strengths lie dormant and neglected. Andy Goddard, a professional coach at Halftime, will examine what this looks like and show you a way to lock into your unique God-given strengths.

Dean Harbry - International Ballroom F Most people recoil at the thought of engaging in conflict, yet this is a real part of everyday life. Conflict can be resolved constructively, yielding closer relationships, or destructively, which causes an erosion of trust between two or more people. Join us at the “Managing Conflict” breakout to find out how to engage with those around you in a redeemed fashion, keeping short accounts. The expected results include stronger relationships, a more peaceful existence, and overall improved communications with others.
