No injury has been reported but all the shops, mostly of textile, were immediately shut down after the incident for security reasons. One of the shop owners at the building Puran Dave said, “My shop Rekha Textile is quite old. In the morning we noticed some plasters of the building falling, as it is mostly noticed during heavy rains. Around 20 days ago we made the complaint against the this to landlord and marketing director of Chikhal market Dinesh Haridas Maniar, but he always overheard our complaints and asked us to shut our mouth. He used to do little patchwork, we have complained to BMC Corporator Veena Jain. And he was

I had surrendered myself before the authorities on 28th July 1994, I have never seen New Delhi railway station or have ever been around it in my life time.” In the letter Memon describes himself as a good citizen of India, who tried to help the government in whatever possible manner and further writes. “Due to inevitable circumstances I had to stay abroad for 18 months before returning back to India. "We asked the PM when he thinks about Lalit Modi. We got no answer. We got no answer on the Vyapam scam, and no answer on Chattisgarh and no answer on Sushma. The prime minister had assured the country that he will not tolerate corruption. His words should carry weight. But he speaks in air -- his credibility is slowly declining. The prime minister should listen to the voices of people of the country who are demanding an answer from him over controversies confronting the government. authorities, I am not at all connected with the Bombay Bomb blasts cases except for the fact that I am a relation to alleged prime accused Ibrahim Memon @ Tiger.” Memon further had tried to explain in the letter, listing the 15 names of the Memon family members that some of his family members lived abroad and were NRIs residing in UAE and he had visited them while the blasts took place.” “On 12th March 1993 on the day of the blasts we were in UAE with Suileman Memon (Brother), even after 12th March we had no inkling about the perpetrators and the conspiracy of the offence. It was only later that we got some idea about it. But we had hopes of coming back to India and wiping out the stigma attached to our family name.”

“I am dependent on antidepression medicines. It has now become a part of my life. The more I think the more I get disturbed. After all, why am I made to suffer? Only for the sole reason that the prime accused is my relation,” Yakub had written in the 1999 letter. “The purpose of giving this brief about myself is to bring home just one single point. Where was the time to hate even,” he wrote and towards the end of the letter he thanks and requests to grant him suitable relief from the punishment. Yakub Memon, a chartered accountant by profession and brother of mastermind Tiger Memon, of the 1993 Bombay Bomb Blast, is the only person who was awarded death sentence and has been scheduled to be hanged this month on his birthday.

State serious about quota to Muslims Continued from pg 1 « Ramraje Nimbalkar adjourned the house for halfan-hour. Abdullah Khan Durrani of NCP, raised the issue during the question hour. He asked if the Chief Minister had in December last year said that the government will take the opinion of the Advocate General and provide reservation to Muslims. He said, “Several committees that were formed to examine the socio-economic and educational status of Muslims have said that the condition of Muslims is very bad. There are other states also that have given them reservation. How serious is this government on the

issue?” Kapil Patil of Lok Bharti questioned why the government scrapped the five per cent reservation for Muslims in education in spite of the High Court order. To this query, Khadse said all those children who had taken admissions before the ordinance lapsed will be allowed admission in educational institutions. Muslims were not given reservation in the last 65 years and today allegations are being leveled against the government. This led to a commotion in the house with the opposition storming into the well of the house and shouting slogans against the government, which led to the chairman adjourning the house for 30 minutes.
