Therefore Go‌

November 2014

Hi there How fast the months are flying by! I cannot believe that we are already in December and that it is already a whole year ago that we were in South Africa. So much has changed in this last year, but we can really testify to God’s faithfulness during this time of transition. So often I look out my window and am amazed at where we are actually living—a small town in the Andes. Sure, we might have regular water and power cuts and the entire town shuts down after 6pm, but it truly is a beautiful part of the world and I am so thankful that we get to raise our children here. Thank you for praying for the health of our family. This last month has still been a bit of a battle for all of us. Kai had croup and some random fevers, and I had a bit of a tummy bug. Thankfully none of it has lasted too long and at the moment we are all well. Kai is also sleeping much better, which makes life significantly easier. So we are really thankful for that too. Our little girl is healthy and strong. As of today I am 23 weeks pregnant and the days are just flying by. My one big concern is that like Kai, she will decide to arrive early, before my parents can get here. This will make it quite complicated as we don’t have anyone to help us with Kai. Please trust with us that she will make her appearance on her due date and that my folks will get here on time. Thank you also for praying for the construction of our greenhouse. Jaime has been hard at work this last month overseeing the construction of the walls and roof. On the pages that follow you can see how the building has been coming along...

The Renova Blueberry Project. Our greenhouse is almost complete! All that is missing now are the windows and a door and then we will be able to bring in the soil and move the blueberries from Primitivo’s house to the greenhouse. Our one partner in this project had hoped to find funding for the project in order to cover the expenses post the construction of the greenhouse, but unfortunately other commitments have prevented him from doing so. However, Jaime and I know without a doubt that we are where God would have us be and that this project is what He has asked us to do for now and so we trust and rely on his provision. Please trust with us that God will continue to provide the funding for the Renova blueberry project and that we really can become a source of blessing to the community of Marcaconga.

Please keep us in your prayers…. 

Praise God with us that we have finally found a church in which we feel we belong as a family. After months of searching for a faith community in which we can worship, we came across the small congregation of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. It is a small Presbyterian church in a poorer part of Cusco, but has excellent bible based teaching and kiddies facilities for Kai. They also support a small orphanage that has a greenhouse! When they heard about the work we are doing in Marcaconga they were very excited, so who knows what opportunities there might be in the future!

Please pray for rain for Andahuaylillas! November and December are usually some of the wettest months here in Cusco. However, this last month we have hardly had any rain at all. This is a real worry for the community here in Andahuaylillas who have planted their maize and quinoa crops and who rely on the rains to keep them watered. Many are also concerned that when it does start raining there will be flooding in the region, much as there was in 2010, which left much of the area devastated. Please trust with us that the rain will start falling soon.

Please trust with us for funding for our blueberry project. We really desire to have more than enough so that we can be a blessing to the community of Marcaconga.

Thank you again for your incredible faithfulness in partnering with us in this journey. Jaime and I thank God for each and every one of you. We pray that it will be both a blessing and encouragement to you to know that your prayers and faithfulness make a big difference in this part of the world! If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to write to me any time. It would be really lovely to hear from you. My email address is kimmysol@gmail.com.
