Therefore Go‌

Testimonies from March 2013

Hello there There are just 29 days to go (or a little more or a little less) until our boy arrives!!!! I really praise God that my pregnancy has continued to go amazingly well, with very little discomfort or worry. Our boy is now weighing around 2.68kg and the doctor is very happy with his growth. This month has been full of baby showers and final preparations for our son’s arrival. Both Jaime and I have been overwhelmed by how generous people have been and how God has continued to provide for us. He has been so good to us! It has also been a month full of farewells as I step into a new season of family life and ministry . It has been difficult to say goodbye to many people that I have come to care about deeply, but I am also trusting that God will soon open a way for me to return to ministry once our son is born. For the coming month I will be focusing on building my ministry partnership team. With a new baby on the way and a few other changes in our family life (please see the last page), we are trusting God that we can increase our monthly partnership by R4000 a month. At the moment I am half way! Praise God! Please keep trusting with me for God’s provision for us. Jaime and I are so thankful for you and for the part you play in making our ministry possible. I have put together a short youtube video with more details of our ministry here in Peru. Please take a moment to have a look—I made it for you  www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-kMiPn5w3w I hope to be able to write once more before our baby arrives, but if not, I promise to send some photos as soon as I can. Until then, may God’s love and grace be with you! Much love, Kim

Saints in Cells... On the 14th March we had a “farewell for now celebration with the ladies in Santa Monica prison. We were really blessed to be able to take in a cake and some goodies as well as a camera. We had a very special time in which I shared how above all that Jesus asks of us, the most important is to love God with all our hearts and to love one another. I pray that they have taken the message to heart. As part of her missions training Mary will be away in Arequipa until October and so at the moment only Bea and Anita will be visiting the ladies. Dalila, who visits the ladies in Piedras Gordas, is still struggling with her health and so is not able to visit that regularly. Please trust with us that God will add to our team and that He will provide the resources, wisdom and strength needed for Anita and Bea to minister effectively. I am really trusting that once our baby is a few months old, I will be able to return to see them. Next Tuesday, Dalila and I will be meeting with some of the ladies who are now on the outside. Some have already started attending a local church. Please pray that they will find a spiritual family and continue to grow in their faith.

Vision Fest... Thank you so much for your prayers! The Vision Fest was a great success!!! After many weeks of long hours and hard work, the day of Vision Fest finally arrived. It was incredible to see hundreds of young people queuing from even an hour before the event started. It was also wonderful to see all the students from Fe en Accion ready to serve and having such ownership of the event. The concert started at 7pm and over the course of the evening more than 7 different local Christian bands played, interspersed with messages encouraging those in attendance to commit to being a part of transforming their communities. Jaime has the opportunity to address the crowd and share the purpose of the Vision Fest (I was so proud of him!). At the end of the evening those who wanted to were given the opportunity to sign up to volunteer in one of World Vision’s many community development projects. Overall almost 2000 young people attended the concert. Thank you so much for praying and for being a part of this event that touched so many people’s lives. Thank you also for praying for Jaime and his team.

Children’s Libraries...Farewell (for now) Over the last few weeks I have also had to say goodbye to the children at the various children’s libraries where I have been serving. For the last two years I have been going weekly to the Simon Bolivar and 19A libraries and I have come to care deeply for the children there. It has been incredible to see them grow so fast. Thankfully the team from Fe en Accion will continue to visit the library in Simon Bolivar. This is perhaps where there is most need at the moment and so I am incredibly thankful that God has provided a group of committed young people to continue to work there. Please pray for the Fe en Accion team. May God keep them safe and provide them with the resources and time needed to be able to continue ministering effectively to the children each week. Please also trust with me that the children will come to know God’s love and care for them in a really tangible way.

More New Things…. It truly is a time of new things for our family… From the end of May, Jaime will be leaving World Vision in order to focus on completing the thesis required for him to obtain his University “title”. He will be continuing his research on the impact of the growth of the Evangelical church in the rural province of Cajamarca. With the work hours as long as they are in Peru, we thought it best for Jaime to stop work and focus on his studies. If not, he would have almost no time to spend with his son (or wife!). In a culture where family often takes the back seat, we feel that part of what God has called us to do is to set an example of a godly Christ-centred family here in Peru and to make family a priority. It is a step of faith, but we believe it is how God is leading us. Consequently from June onwards we will be entirely dependant on the financial provision that comes from my ministry partnership team. I wanted to let you know this, because both Jaime and I are so incredibly thankful for you and for the way in which your generosity enables us to follow God’s leading. Thank you for sowing into our lives, our family and our ministry! We so appreciate you!!!!!!!!!!! Jaime is hoping to finish his thesis by the end of October, after which we will be coming to South Africa for two months (yay!). We are still seeking God’s will for exactly what we will be involved in next year, but whatever it is we know it will be connected with community transformation and the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Please continue to pray that we will be sensitive to God’s leading and that He will make His will supernaturally clear to us. May God honour and bless your generosity and the great difference you make in our family!
