Union with Christ
Home Discussion Page Romans
This page is provided for those who might wish to discuss the lesson with household members. The Scripture, principle, and questions for each day correlate with the Scripture and questions in the BSF lesson for this week. Each week the study for Day 1 is a review based on the previous week’s study. Days 2 through 6 cover the new material. The first question for each day’s Scripture reading is designed to be used as a discussion question. The second question may be used for discussion or for individual application.
Day 1: Review of Romans 5:1-11: Standing in Grace Main Truth: God blesses with great privileges those He justified. Principles: •
Peace with God guarantees meaningful suffering.
• The cross demonstrates God’s incomparable love. • God initiates and accomplishes reconciliation. Question: How has this lesson helped you know you cannot lose your salvation?
Days 2-6: Union with Christ Day 2: Read Romans 5:12-14. Sin and death came to all people through one man, Adam. Did sin enter the world before or after God gave Moses the law? Which is true: People are born good, people are born neutral or people are born bad? Why?
Day 3: Read Romans 5:14-19. God gives righteousness and life through Jesus Christ. How are Adam and Christ the same, and how are they different? With whom are you united – Adam or Christ?
Day 4: Read Romans 5:18-19. Adam’s sin brought condemnation, but Jesus’ death brought justification and life. What does condemnation produce? (See also 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9.) What are some results of life in Christ? (See also John 10:28; Ephesians 3:12.)
Day 5: Read Romans 5:20-21. Adding law increases sin, but God’s grace is greater than sin. Give examples of how rules in your home, school or work increase sin in your life. Can you think of a time in your life God’s grace overcame your sin?
Day 6:
Review Romans 5:12-21. All people joined to Adam die, but all people joined to Christ receive eternal life. What have you learned about God in this week’s study? How could you make this truth a part of your life?
