FLYING HIGH IN REAL ESTATE
Written
“One of my greatest accomplishments, in addition to raising two wonderful children, was learning to fly airplanes and then share it with others as a flight instructor. As a pilot I learned to anticipate possible scenarios, be thorough and detailed, and understand that whether I’m in the airplane, managing a project, or listing a client’s home, I’m the pilot in
top producer
command and am ultimately responsible for my actions and performance,” says Jonelle Tucker, Broker/Owner of Tucker Group Real Estate.
Jonelle took to the friendly skies in the early 1980s, at Venice Airport in Florida. An introductory flight left her wanting more. “When I take on a new challenge, I want to understand as much as possible. After getting a Private Pilot’s license, I earned my commercial and instrument ratings, then became a Certified Flight Instructor, teaching part-time for Dakota Ridge Aviation at Boulder Airport for 16 years.”
From Aviation to Real Estate
Born in Maryland, Jonelle’s journey took her from the East Coast to Boulder County, Colorado, with “layovers” in Florida and North Carolina for work and to complete Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Prior to entering real estate, Jonelle worked with Sarasota County Parks & Recreation Department before building an 11-year illustrious career in academia. Her diverse work experience and education provided critical management and leadership skills, which proved invaluable for real estate.
“When you’re responsible for hundreds of employees and collaborating with community stakeholders and government agencies, you develop skills

ects,” she explains. These are the same skills she applies to her real estate business today.
She served in different capacities from 1989 to 2006 as a Research Associate, Adjunct Faculty Instructor, and Project Manager in the CU Leeds School of Business. Her focus was on sustainable tourism, recreation, and business planning and development. After stepping away from academia in 2006 due to funding cuts, she decided to change course and navigate the world of real estate.
While her timing—in the throes of the market downturn—was less than ideal, Jonelle persevered. “It was tough those first few years,” she admits. “But I knew I had to invest in my business to succeed.” And succeed she did, eventually becoming a star performer at a large Boulder firm before deciding in 2015 to open her own company, Tucker Group Real Estate.
Building a Strong Team Through Mentoring From the cockpit to the classroom to the trail, sharing her enthusiasm
Approaching her 18th year in real estate, one of Jonelle’s most rewarding experiences is training and mentoring her associates. “At this stage of my career, I have less need to grow my own performance stats and client base. If they’re motivated to learn, I’m willing to give my time and provide opportunities to participate in every aspect of my business. One of the best OJT experiences is taking the lead as a co-listing agent for our sellers and buyers,” she explains. “They see firsthand how to provide the high level of service our clients have come to expect. Plus, they get to earn while they learn.”
She credits much of her success at Tucker Group to her staff and associates. “I would not be where I am today without the dedication of my past and present employees and associates.”
Kari Basey has been with her for over 10 years and is now an accomplished Real Estate professional. Levi Nagy and Matt Ferren are the two newest members of the Tucker Group team. “They have both demonstrated great skill and success working with clients,

closing transactions, and learning that they are ultimately the pilot in command of their future,” she says.
Speaking of mentors, Jonelle emphasizes how important it is to have people to look up to, no matter our age. She shares how her 96-year-old friend Dolores Randall, a longtime Boulder County resident, has influenced the way she thinks about the future. “She has taught me that finding something positive about each day, taking the initiative to build and maintain genuine friendships and relationships, and being productive with activities that I enjoy are important to living a full life.”
Giving Back to the Community
For Jonelle, success in real estate goes hand-in-hand with giving back to the community. Since 1996, she has been an active volunteer. “I believe we all have a responsibility to give back,” Jonelle says, “whether through financial contributions or volunteering our time.”
In the Boulder/Lyons community over the past 25 years, she has helped in various capacities with fundraising, led the charge to rebuild the Lyons Elementary School Playground, reignited and managed the 9 Health Fair for Lyons, assisted with the 2013 flood and 2021 Marshall Fire recovery efforts, and helped establish the Lyons Lions Leo Club, a youthrun civic group that organizes and implements community projects. Her most recent volunteer engagements include training and participating in recent disaster relief operations with Team Rubicon.
Family + Fun
When not working, you can find Jonelle with her husband and soulmate Dean, visiting with friends, and whenever possible hanging out with
their children Zach (29) and Sierra (26). “Luckily they still like adventuring with us.” Their family loves spending time in the outdoors hiking, mountain biking, running, camping, and just taking in the sights and sounds of nature. “Being in nature feeds my soul,” says Jonelle.
In addition, she currently coaches with Ninja Mountain Bike Performance and the Town of Lyons as a mountain bike instructor which allows her to stay fit, meet some incredible people, and keep refining her biking skills.
Flying High
With her background in aviation, academia, and community service, Jonelle Tucker is truly flying high in the real estate world. As she continues to grow her business and support her team, she remains dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of the market with skill, care, precision, and passion.

Love what you do and you never work another day in your life. Kari Basey, Associate Broker, Transaction and Marketing Coordinator at Tucker Group Real Estate, found her passion in real estate. She loves meeting people and helping them with their real estate needs.
“I love working with a wide variety of people,” she comments. “Helping someone find their perfect home or assisting in the sale of a home so they can move forward in life is incredibly rewarding.”
Finding Her Niche
Originally from Ojai, California, Kari spent her college years in Nevada. In 1993, her husband accepted a teaching position at CU Boulder, which brought them to Boulder County.
“We’ve called Lyons home ever since and love living on the Front Range.”
“After spending 13 years at home raising my four children, Jonelle offered me a position as her Marketing Coordinator and Office Assistant, which I gladly accepted,” says Kari. Their connection dates back decades.
“Jonelle and I first met back in 1998 when we both worked at CU Boulder, and we’ve been close friends ever since,” she says. When their skilled Transaction Coordinator, Donna Rieck, transitioned to a title company a couple of years ago, Kari stepped in to take over her duties. “Soon after, I earned my real estate license with Jonelle’s steadfast support.”
Kari’s experience over the last 11 years has been varied, from assisting with marketing to managing transactions, and now as an Associate Broker. Her educational background—holding a BA in Psychology and an MA in Counseling—has been instrumental in her role as a REALTOR®.
“Home buying is a significant financial and emotional decision. My
background has taught me to be sensitive to clients’ feelings, attentive to what’s being communicated, and supportive throughout the process,” Kari explains. Her past roles, which include Academic Support Coordinator at CU Boulder, Academic Advisor for Student Athletes at the University of Nevada Reno and leadership positions in volunteer organizations, have instilled a strong sense of organization and attention to detail, qualities she brings into her real estate career.
Kari wore many hats—ranging from raising her children to managing an academic support program serving 6,000 students and supervising 70-90 part-time employees. Her professional and personal background
PASSIONATE ABOUT PEOPLE AND PROPERTIES
has made her an asset in her current role. “I’ve been a licensed REALTOR® for about a year and a half now, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have Jonelle as a mentor,” Kari says. “She’s an outstanding agent who is fully dedicated to her clients’ success. I’ve learned so much from observing her approach to real estate.”
One of Kari’s favorite client success stories involved helping a young couple return to Colorado after living out of state. “Their families were overjoyed to have them back, and I felt incredibly proud to help them locate and buy the perfect house near their new jobs and families,” she recalls.
Balancing Work and Life
In addition to her professional achievements, Kari is passionate about giving back to her community. She actively supports the Lyons Community Foundation, Lyons Emergency Assistance Foundation, and Lyons Middle/Senior High School. Her past volunteer roles have included organizing events such as the Discovery Science Fair, After Prom, and serving as Vice President of the Lyons High Booster Club.
When Kari isn’t working or volunteering, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends. Playing beach volleyball and hiking are among her favorite pastimes. She’s also recently started playing pickleball and finds joy in watching her children excel in volleyball. “My daughter played for the University of Denver, and my two sons have played for the UNC Men’s Club Team. Two of my sons are now professional beach volleyball players on the AVP tour, and my son Gage attends CU Boulder and is on the USA national beach team,” she says proudly.
In addition to her role as a REALTOR®, Kari coaches a boys’ 17s team at Elite Volleyball Club alongside her youngest son. “Volleyball has always been a passion of mine, and I enjoy coaching and mentoring young athletes,” she shares.
Kari Basey’s love for her community, passion for real estate, and dedication to helping others shine through in everything she does. Whether she’s assisting clients, volunteering, or coaching, Kari brings a wealth of experience and a personal touch to every endeavor.
MATT FERREN:
meet the team
Written by Elizabeth McCabe • Photos by Glen Delman
Never underestimate your past career experience to serve as a solid foundation for real estate. For REALTOR® Matt Ferren at The Tucker Group, his various professions were invaluable in preparing him to be a real estate professional.
Born in Boulder, Matt moved to Lyons in 6th grade, where he grew up with a deep connection to the local community. Before venturing into real estate, Matt spent 15 years working in the service, hospitality, and entertainment industries. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from CU Boulder and became a TIPS Certified Bartender, which led him to various roles with the Denver Nuggets, Ball Arena, Boulder Theater, E-Town, and Planet Bluegrass. His most recent experience included working in the HVAC industry after attending Front Range Community College, where he honed his skills in residential HVAC installation and service.
“ My work in HVAC and security has honed my ability to troubleshoot and problem solve,” he shares. “I’m able to handle different situations and find ways to make things work. Getting to know people on a personal level and networking are also strengths. I would say I have a lot of ‘life’ experiences that allow me to adapt to unique situations.”
Pivoting During the Pandemic
Although Matt enjoyed installing and fixing people’s HVAC equipment in their homes, he got laid off during COVID. He searched for a new direction in life.
“After researching the real estate industry, I realized that my background as a
residential HVAC contractor and my people skills would be a good crossover. Also, I wanted to transition into a career that I could grow into and have less physical wear and tear on my body,” he explains.
Over a year ago, Matt made the transition to real estate and finds his new career rewarding.
“Learning new skills, meeting people, and hearing about their lives and interests is very rewarding. My challenge now is continuing to grow these relationships,” he comments.
His work is worth every ounce of effort, knowing that he is making
TROUBLE SHOOTER, PROBLEM SOLVER, AND AN EXCEPTIONAL REALTOR®
a genuine difference in their lives. Recently, Matt helped successfully close a transaction for the family of a friend who had passed away. “The proceeds went to his daughter’s future,” explains Matt. Being a part of that process was priceless for him.
A Grateful Heart
Matt wouldn’t be where he is today without the experience and expertise
of Jonelle Tucker. “She is an amazing human and a great mentor,” he raves. Matt also finds inspiration from his mother, Dawn Weller. “She volunteers in a number of different areas and is an active member in the Lyons community.”
Following in her footsteps, Matt is sure to give back to the community as well. “We support
the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFFA )food bank in Boulder,” he says.
Top Tips
When it comes to finding success in real estate, Matt takes the time to learn as much as he can from people in the industry. He encourages others new to the industry, “Build a network of relationships with other professionals that will help you and your clients’ needs. Take different pieces from real estate professionals that are useful and mix that into your work habits to form your own style that works for you.”
Active Interests
When not working, expect to find Matt snowboarding during the winter. “That’s a passion of mine,” he smiles. You can also find him watching local sports teams, like CU. A music lover, he also likes staying involved in the vibrant local scene, working as a TIPS Certified Bartender at music festivals like Rocky Grass and Folks Fest in Lyons, as well as at the historic Boulder Theater.
To relax, Matt and his wife, Lenni, love spending time with family and friends, as well as their three beloved cats—Béla, Noam, and Sonny.
Making an Impact
Matt Ferren’s journey into real estate may have started in an unconventional way, but his ability to solve problems, adapt to challenges, and build lasting relationships makes him an exceptional REALTOR®. His drive to help others, both in his career and through community involvement, is making an impact in Boulder County and beyond.
LEVI NAGY: MEET
Written by Elizabeth McCabe • Photos by Glen Delman
meet the team
Answering the call to serve, Levi Nagy enjoys two careers – fighting fires as a firefighter and EMT in Lyons and as REALTOR® for The Tucker Group. He loves helping others, which is near and dear to his heart.
Lyons Proud
“I’ve been in Lyons and Boulder County since I was 3 years old, so about 22 years now. Lyons is my hometown,” says Levi. He grew up here and stayed because he loves the community. It came naturally for him to serve the community, finding his passion and profession in two careers – real estate and firefighting.
Although they may seem like a world apart, both involve staying calm in emotionally charged situations. Being calm, controlled, and collected is essential, whether fighting a blazing fire or overcoming obstacles to the closing table.
“I’ve been in real estate since February 2023,” says Levi. “My first year was spent working side by side, attending listing and buyer presentations, and working directly with Jonelle and her staff to learn the business. I completed multiple transactions and got to serve as a co-listing agent for additional opportunities.”
Making a Difference
In his first 6 months in real estate, Levi had the opportunity to help a client who was going through a major life transition. “We even provided support in the form of a cross-country move, which included supervising and assisting with the loading and unloading and driving a 26-foot Ryder from Colorado to Oregon,” smiles Levi. “This was a great adventure and the people we helped were so grateful for
our service. I realized that the most fulfilling part of the job for me is making a difference in the lives of others.”
In addition to making a difference for people in real estate, Levi volunteers as a firefighter and an EMT.
FIREFIGHTER FINDS BLAZING CAREER IN REAL ESTATE
Whether responding to medical emergencies or houses in flames, he simply wants to help others.
“I’ve spent the last year training and becoming a firefighter/EMT,” he
comments. “Currently, I’m serving as a volunteer firefighter/EMT in Lyons. This has been the most recent and significant focus in my life,” he smiles. “My goals include obtaining a full-time position as a
firefighter in the Denver/Metro Area and maintaining my real estate license so I can assist my family, peers, and others in need.”
What does Levi like about real estate? “I love the novelty,” he comments. Every house is different. Every client is different. “You’re always learning. You’re always solving different problems. It’s also incredibly rewarding to be able to help folks when they are going through one of the most stressful transactions of their lives.”
Best of all, it’s a “great feeling” to have the expertise to bring people through challenging transactions, help them keep a level head, and get them to closing, feeling like they’ve made the best decision possible.
Relaxing + Unwinding
When Levi isn’t working, he enjoys playing the piano, making music for all to enjoy. Hiking, reading, and organizing low-stakes poker nights with friends at his apartment is also fun for this dedicated real estate professional. An adventurer at heart, Levi also likes cold plunging in Boulder Creek in the winter, weightlifting, and meeting new people.
A Bright Future
Whether he’s volunteering as a firefighter or navigating the world of real estate, Levi Nagy is driven by a desire to serve his community and help those around him. With a bright future ahead, Levi looks forward to continuing his dual careers, helping others wherever he goes.
Amanda DiVito Parle Amanda DiVito Parle
Navigates Real Estate with Precision & Passion
realtor to know
Written by Elizabeth McCabe
by Suzanne Lopez and Cami Rosine
“Real estate is like skiing a mountain,” says REALTOR® Amanda DiVito Parle with DiVito Dream Makers.
“Real estate is like skiing a mountain,” says Amanda DiVito Parle, REALTOR® with DiVito Dream Makers. “When you get to the top, the hard work of skiing down begins. It takes skill to get down a mountain. Sometimes you get to enjoy blue skies. Other times you can’t see the turns approaching.” It’s an adventure and you have to embrace the twists, turns, and unexpected challenges. The same can be said of real estate. With all its excitement, it’s not a career for the faint of heart or for those unable to tackle challenges.
Amanda’s career in real estate wasn’t a leap into the unknown—it was in her DNA. “I’m a second-generation REALTOR®,” she explains. Her father, Joe DiVito, was in the business for 38 years, and she learned the ropes working for him throughout high school and college. From running errands and delivering checks to solidly negotiating deals by age 22, Amanda gained a deep understanding of the industry.
“Watching my Dad negotiate deals and listen in on his conversations made an impression on my mind as a young person,” she says. Today, Amanda leads the family-operated team, DiVito Dream Makers, continuing her father’s legacy while carving her own path.
“This is my 21st year in the business, and I’ve done every job along the way,” she says. Her no-nonsense, people-first approach makes her a connector, someone who thrives on winning others over with her expertise and genuine passion for helping families.
NAVIGATING THE REAL ESTATE SLOPES
When asked about the most rewarding part of her career, Amanda’s response is twofold. “First, serving people during unique, infrequent transactions,” she comments. “This is real life; this is their family, their job relocation, and there is tremendous reward in helping people buy and sell.” Walking clients through one of the most significant transactions in their lives is incredibly fulfilling for this Top Producer. From job relocations to growing families, Amanda finds purpose in being a trusted advisor during these pivotal moments.
Photos
Equally rewarding is the sense of community within the REALTOR® brand. Early in her career, Amanda was named to the National Association of REALTORS® 30 Under 30, an honor that led her to start the Young Professional Network in Colorado. “The real estate industry is one of the only surviving sectors where referral fees can be paid between agents,” she notes. This network has been a cornerstone of Amanda’s success, allowing her to build strong relationships with fellow REALTORS® across the country.
“IT’S BEEN AN AMAZING CAREER,” SHE SMILES Passion Project: The Kitchen Table Podcast
In 2024, Amanda launched At The Kitchen Table, a podcast that interviews the most influential figures in her career. “The kitchen table is where so much of real estate happens,” she says. “It’s where you sit down with clients and discuss life’s big decisions.” Through her podcast, Amanda is giving thanks
to those who have shaped her journey, sharing their wisdom with a wider audience. “It’s a tour of gratitude,” she says. “Sometimes people cross our paths and leave a lasting impact without even realizing it.”
A FAMILY-ORIENTED LIFESTYLE
Outside of real estate, Amanda’s life is as full as her business. She and her husband, Ryan, share a love for skiing, spending weekends at their second home in Winter Park with their three children, Evelyn (12), Nolan (10), and Oliver (8). “We’re a mountain family through and through,” she says. “Skiing has always been a part of who we are.” Their standard poodle, Kona, named after their favorite Hawaiian destination, rounds out the family.
Balancing work and family is a challenge Amanda has embraced with open arms. “This business allows you to have it all, just not all at the same time,” she says. “I’ve learned to pace myself and let life’s experiences reveal
themselves when I’m ready to receive them.” Amanda’s day starts with family time—playing games, working out, and connecting with her kids before heading into the office. Her afternoons are dedicated to clients, while evenings are reserved for family once again. And when the kids are asleep, Amanda often returns to her desk, prepping for the next day’s adventures.
GIVING BACK
Amanda is also passionate about giving back to her community, particularly through organizations like Children’s Miracle Network, which holds special meaning for her after her middle son underwent spinal and brain surgery at Children’s Hospital. Amanda has been a longtime donor and continues to support the organization, alongside the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC), where she’s deeply involved in their efforts to serve the adult population with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As Amanda reflects on her career, she’s filled with gratitude for the opportunities real estate has provided. “This business is relentless,” she admits. “But it’s also incredibly rewarding. It’s the only industry where you can help people build true financial freedom while staying close to home and raising a family.”
With the real estate market evolving, Amanda remains confident that the need for expert advisors will always be there. “Consumers still need professional guidance, and that’s not going away.” Whether she’s skiing down a mountain or closing a deal, Amanda DiVito Parle embraces every twist and turn with passion, skill, and gratitude.

78! It’s a at Wonderful Life Wonderful Life
This Christmas marks 78 years since Oscar-winning director Frank Capra released arguably the greatest movie ever made.
Finding life lessons in It’s a Wonderful Life is like finding sand at the beach. Every time you watch it, you find more.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” underscores the fact that everyone’s life has meaning and purpose. It shows how STRESS can change one’s perspective on how all the good things done in a lifetime can be wiped out with one act of hopelessness.
It wasn’t just the loss of $8000 that drove him to despair and the brink of suicide. It was his decades of sacrifice seemed for naught.
Throughout the film, George Bailey faces numerous challenges and setbacks, but he remains determined and resilient, despite the obstacles.
We know the powerful ending. George realizes he wants to live again, even though he believes he will be going to jail. Then he arrives home, engulfing his family in hugs and kisses, before discovering his Bedford Falls neighbors have rallied behind him to collect the money to replace the $8000 “lost” by Uncle Billy.
When you watch it again, notice how stress is manifested in so many ways during George’s life. He is always trying to please others. He is financially strapped. He is losing his business. He has lost all hope. And finally, he comes to the ultimate feeling of despair and believes that nothing can be done.
There are some important lessons from the film:
It’s a story that reminds us of the struggles we all face.
Clarence, the angel, helps George see his life through a different lens. This shift in perspective is
health and longevity
By Dr. Felicia Santelli
George learns to accept life’s ups and downs.
Accepting that not everything can be controlled, and learning to navigate through uncertainties can lead to personal growth, resilience, and well-being.
George Bailey is a leader who values his community and is willing to work with others to achieve common goals. Throughout the film, he is compassionate and cares about welfare of others. He places the needs of his community ahead of his own, showing the importance of selflessness in achieving common goals.
Despite his challenges, George Bailey remains optimistic and inspires others to do the same. When he wavers, his guardian angel, Clarence, shows him what the world would be like if he had never been born.
His journey towards understanding his own value and the impact he has on those around him teaches
ships and well-being.
ALL the lessons from this film have relevance to our health. It reminds us that stress is the ‘ultimate disease machine’. And our thoughts, emotions and attitudes can affect our health positively or negatively.
The most powerful lesson is love of and from family, friends, neighbors, and community. And isn’t that what this season is all about?
“It’s a Wonderful Life” is more than a Christmas classic. It underscores the fact that everyone’s life has meaning and purpose.
As we wrap up an incredible year, the Hearth and Stone Luxury Home Tour team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in 2024!
