RASKER ARN MEET

8 • April 2024 @realproducers
top producer

“I have childhood memories of my dad driving up the narrow and winding road, up towards the top of the Irazu volcano, in Costa Rica, when the villagers were all desperately traveling in the opposite direction because my dad wanted to see the lava flow firsthand and close-up.”

Arn Rasker recollects his childhood as a series of adventures. From exploring Mexico and its many small historic villages through timed road rallies with his parents to climbing some of the tallest mountains and volcanoes in Europe and Mexico, to bicycle trips through Mexico, the US, and Europe. “I didn’t grow up in a financially wealthy family, but I was lucky enough to be living a life of exploration and adventures, with a focus on experiences.”

Arn Rasker, a dynamic real estate professional, has a diverse background of cultures and adventures. He speaks three languages with native proficiency. Originally from Holland but born in Canada to parents who immigrated there after World War II, he moved frequently during his childhood, residing in Holland, Costa Rica, and Mexico

City before the family settled in Madrid, Spain. Now, armed with these rich experiences, he brings an unparalleled perspective to the world of property dealings with Sotheby’s.

With a father deeply involved in scuba and shipwreck diving and exploration, as well as being a member of an underwater museum in Mexico City, Arn developed a passion for the ocean. He initially planned to pursue ocean engineering and applied to universities along the coast. He initially chose Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. With one week until moving day, he discovered the University of Colorado had also accepted him. So, he unpacked the scuba gear and wet suits and packed his climbing, camping, and cycling gear for his new life in Boulder, Colorado where he pursued a major in mechanical engineering and a minor in business.

After graduating from CU, Arn quickly secured a job with Pepsi in Mexico City amid a significant peso devaluation. Facing financial challenges due to inflation and high living costs, he transitioned to a position in New York with IFF, International Flavors and Fragrances, but declined a subsequent opportunity in Brazil. Returning to Boulder,

he realized that he was meant to live in Boulder and hasn’t left since. He secured a job in engineering through several days of personal delivery resume distribution.

Arn says, “When I returned to Boulder, I literally had just enough money for the first and last month’s rent on an apartment. I only had a hundred bucks left which I spent on printing resumes. I went into industrial parks and walked door to door. On day three I received a job with a company that did a lot

of business in Europe, in the field of fluid flow. I became an applications engineer and my territory was Europe and Mexico, and they had me traveling quite a bit, which was perfect for me at that time.”

After two years with this firm, Arn ventured into entrepreneurship, which included co-founding a luxury and performance car dealership in Boulder, which sold specialty cars such as Alpina BMW’s, Ruff Porsche’s, AMG Mercedes’, vintage German cars, and

other collectibles. From there he started a fifteenyear-long venture with a software company that he founded, specializing in automotive service business integration. Parallel to the software company, Arn ran a computer hardware company that specialized in ruggedized servers and workstations for use in hostile environments such as industrial applications. Over time, his company grew to employ 56 individuals, serving clients across all 50 states and in several European countries.

After fifteen years in the computer world, Arn took a year off to design, engineer, and build a home for his family in the mountains. He enjoyed the process so much that he started a construction company, which encompassed architecture and home design, custom luxury home construction, energy-conscious design, and commercial construction.

“Real Estate marketing was always a plan for me, in the long run. I just wasn’t ready for it earlier in my life. This is work that I can do until I’m in my 90s, and I love doing it.”

The accumulated knowledge from designing, engineering, and building high-end custom homes, along with his broad business background,

THIS IS WORK THAT I CAN DO UNTIL I’M IN MY 90S, AND I LOVE DOING IT.

allows Arn to relate to his clients and to the homes that his clients are buying or selling. Initially, Arn began his real estate career with a small boutique brokerage in Boulder that specialized in unique and luxury properties.

“My decision to join them was largely influenced by my prior interactions with Tom Kahn, the managing broker at the time, and his customer-centric business style. I learned quite a bit from Tom and appreciate the opportunity of working with him. However, in 2020, that business model, and the industry in general, faced some disruptions due to Covid.”

“The entire 2020 period led me to transition to Sotheby’s International Realty, where I’ve been for the past

four years. Sotheby’s brings together so many elements of a business that are important to me: The International scope of business is a significant factor. We have offices in 80 different countries and a very tight referral network. Most importantly, our client’s welfare is always the highest priority. Education and knowledge are valued and are of utmost importance, as our role is primarily that of a trusted advisor. I don’t feel like I’m “selling” a home. I simply provide a maximum amount of knowledge, research, and information so that my clients can make informed decisions. It’s refreshing and very rewarding to be in that position. It’s also important to me to know that when my clients need assistance buying a home in another state

or country, I have a network of the best brokers in the business to help me with my client’s needs.”

Arn anticipates that the real estate industry will undergo some changes in the future. However, he feels that most of the changes will affect primarily the “commodity” type transactions. He believes that the luxury and unique home business, in which he is significantly involved, is somewhat different.

“In marketing and buying luxury homes, we’re delivering lifestyle. We’re delivering art. We’re delivering architecture. We’re delivering sunshine. We’re delivering views. We’re delivering proximity to the things that our clients like to do, whether it’s the

church they want to go to, the coffee shops they’d like to hang out in, or the things and activities they want to be close to. All those elements are usually much more important to the client than the commodity and investment aspects of the house alone.”

Arn’s daughter, Kasia, aged 31, is also a licensed Realtor and collaborates with him as a member of the team. In addition to her real estate endeavors, she works in sales and operations management for a national fiber optics and telecom company. Kasia’s expertise lies in process control, systems analysis, analytics, and contract review, skills she has honed over the past eight years, making her an invaluable asset to the team.

Arn’s son, Anders, aged 29, has recently shown interest in the real estate industry, particularly on the commercial side.

Drawing from his extensive experience gained from assisting Arn with all aspects of construction, he possesses a diverse skill set, ranging from design, electrical, and plumbing work, to carpentry and welding, to cabinet work and tile installation. Arn is currently guiding his son through the process of entering the real estate business, with hopes of leaving both his daughter and son in a position where they can continue his legacy in the field.

Arn and his wife, Roseann, who is originally from Minnesota, have been married for 33 years. In the past, she played a crucial role in their computer and construction business, managing tasks like bookkeeping, invoicing, and other administrative duties. However, as time has passed, she has transitioned into focusing on managing their household affairs as the CEO of their home.

When discussing travel, Arn says, “I love exploring new places, but especially Mexico; my heart lives in Mexico, so we frequently visit.” He mentions visiting Mexico five times just last year. He is also expanding his real estate business into various Mexico locations. Additionally, last November they also traveled to Holland to visit Arn’s few relatives who still live there. Most of his relatives have moved to overseas locations, such as Brunei, Abu Dhabi, France, and Spain, and one cousin lives on a large ship and is almost always at sea.

When it comes to organizations that Arn supports, he is passionate about Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Sea Shepherd’s sole mission is to protect and conserve the world’s oceans and marine wildlife. “I love the ocean and I also think the ocean is a key ingredient to our future success.

12 • April 2024 @realproducers

If we keep screwing it up at the rate we’re doing in many places, it won’t be sustainable. We need the ocean for food, for carbon cleanup, and for many other reasons. And we’re not doing it well. Sea Shepherd demonstrates significant effectiveness in shutting down certain operations, particularly large food and fishing factories. These measures help prevent the over-exploitation of entire bays and marine resources by these ships.”

In Mexico, particularly in Baja, Arn was involved in organized efforts to protect a large underwater national park, Cabo Pulmo, where he volunteered for several years. He and others fought against destructive developments that

threatened the Cabo Pulmo National Park’s extensive reef system. In the local Boulder community, he often engages with members of the Latin American community, supporting and advocating for them in various ways. Among other things, he assists them with employment by connecting them with individuals from the real estate and construction communities.

As Arn continues his career in real estate, he is enormously grateful to be living and working in Boulder since 1975. “Living here for almost fifty years has been fantastic. I love this place. Living in Boulder has all the obvious benefits, such as beautiful natural surroundings, a health-oriented

lifestyle, and very interesting and educated people everywhere. However, working in the real estate industry in Boulder has the added benefit of working in a culture of professionalism and mutual respect among the members of the real estate community. Boulder is a great place to work for those reasons. The work that the real estate community does here is very important, and we, as realtors, should continue to strive to keep this work at a professional level. Most importantly, I hope we can keep striving to make our work fun.”

RICE

PROTECT WHAT MATTERS

STEVE RICE, COLORADO SALES

REPRESENTATIVE FOR

HOME WARRANTY, INC.

SM KNOWS THAT GREAT SERVICE SETS THEM APART FROM THE REST.

When you ask Steve Rice what he’s most proud of in his business affairs, he holds an honest, ready reply that supports the faith you’ll soon have in him.

“What I take the most pride in, is answering my phone when it rings or placing that quick return call if it happens to ring during the rare moment I’m unable to answer,” he firmly states. “Time is of the essence and sales are on the line. My customers, especially realtors, are busy people who often need fast answers to immediate questions, and I have a strong commitment to being there for them in the moment they need me.”

Known as the “ice cream guy” because of the traveling freezer he keeps stocked with a variety of frozen treats to offer his realtor friends, Steve will be the first to say that

keeping his word is important to him. Upfront and honest, he recommends that all potential clients know the terms and conditions of a service product before they buy it.

Tucked away in historic Parker, Colorado for 26 years, Steve lives a quiet life with his family and the proverbial dog. Hooked on a love of international travel and Denver sports teams, he has experienced over 30 cruises and is an avid fan of the Colorado Avalanche. His wife, Stephenie, works as a caregiver for elderly and stroke patients, allowing their families to continue working while keeping their loved ones at home. His daughter, Madalyn, is a new graduate of cosmetology school with a plan to specialize in curly hair, and his son, Landon, about to graduate high school, is a cybersecurity whiz who has spoken at conferences since the age of 16.

Devoted to a life of serving others, Steve has racked up an impressive 30 years in the sales and customer service industries. He’s also well acquainted with the ins and outs of the real estate industry, having been a Realtor himself in the early 80s when mortgage rates topped 18% and selling a home wasn’t an easy endeavor by any stretch of the imagination. Two years ago, Steve found himself scanning the landscape for a new enterprise and was attracted to the home warranty industry. Knowing his business efforts are only as good as the company he represents, he searched for a stellar company that stood tall against its competitors. After careful consideration of each company’s features and benefits, the answer was obvious. Home Warranty, Inc. SM was the company he would represent

ALMOST UNHEARD OF IN THIS BUSINESS.

so that he could feel good about offering the best possible services to his customers. A stout believer in the integrity of his company, Steve is the District Sales Representative for Colorado, Southern Wyoming, and Northern New Mexico.

The Home Warranty, Inc. SM Difference Let’s face it – many agents are burned out on the empty promises from some of the home warranty companies. Home Warranty, Inc. knows that realtors, sellers, buyers, and homeowners need a company they can depend on to hold up their end of the bargain. What makes them stand apart from the others is the real value and exclusive benefits they offer in their Core Home Protection Plan and Executive Home Protection Plan. The icing on the cake is that these plans allow you to choose your own contractor, which provides faster

turnaround time and is an absolute advantage in the face of an emergency. This type of feature is a rarity among home warranty companies.

“Allowing a policyholder to use their contractor of choice is almost unheard of in this business,” Steve says. “But when an emergency hits and your heating unit goes out during an ice storm, waiting days or weeks with other home warranty companies for an approved contractor who may be in high demand during that time isn’t an option.”

Based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Home Warranty, Inc. strives to be the best possible choice for your client’s home warranty. Founded 24 years ago by retired military man, home technician Doug Vant Hof, the company has built a strong reputation as a solid service provider that keeps its

commitments and doesn’t gloss over the fine print. With a dependable presence in 45 states, they’ve also earned an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Good things happen when a company keeps its word and has a reputation for honesty and value. In 2020, Home Warranty, Inc. was acquired by NextEra Energy, which was recently named to Fortune magazine’s list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” for 2024 as #1 in their industry for the 17th time. NextEra Energy was also named to Newsweek’s “America’s Most Responsible Companies” list this year for the fourth time in a row. These are only a few of the many prestigious awards and honors the company has received in recent years. And the recognition keeps rolling in.

Maintaining the smaller company mentality while being strengthened by a Fortune 500 parent company has prompted exponential growth for Home Warranty, Inc., bolstering an already exceptional service product that you can continue to feel great about recommending or providing as a gift to your clients. In addition, they offer a $25 discount for active military personnel and veterans, and the claims process is surprisingly simple.

Why Choose Home Warranty, Inc?

Catering to real estate professionals and their clients, Home Warranty, Inc, strives to serve you with around-the-clock claim support, FAST post-repair payment, your contractor of choice, and the ability to cash out for a repair. And when you call them during core hours, you reach a LIVE person who answers your call in under a minute, 95% of the time – another example of how they care for their customers. In addition to the Homeowner Hub and the Agent Toolbox on HomeWarrantyInc.com, these are only some of the ways Home Warranty strives to make your busy life easier.

Register for $100 Off the Home Protection Plans

There are several ways to register, and it takes only minutes to complete. You can register your buyer or seller on the Home Warranty, Inc. website, register on the CTM transaction management system when your property goes live, call their toll-free number, or simply shoot Steve a quick call or email and he’ll promptly do it for you. He will always go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction.

Not only do the Executive and Core Home Protection Plans come with an initial 14-month coverage term, a cash-out option on claims, and the ability to choose your own contractor, every agent who orders their buyer’s warranty has the option to reduce the price by $100. This results in the extremely competitive price points of $495 for the Core Plan and $795 for the Executive Plan. A $1,200 value, the Executive Plan is a great deal, including SurgeShield® and SurgeShield Plus®, a Buyer Premium Upgrade, Enhanced HVAC Plus (doubling the HVAC limits) and so much more.

Not only does Home Warranty, Inc. hold up its end of the bargain, it goes above and beyond to offer a benefit no one else does: FREE, NO-STRINGS-ATTACHED listing coverage for your sellers. Sounds too good to be true? It’s not only a good thing, it’s also absolutely true.

Your FREE Sellers Listing Coverage

Eyes widen in surprise when Steve reveals this special advantage at his Home Warranty, Inc. 101 lunch-and-learn events, and mouths fly open when he confirms it. It is indeed a bona fide benefit that they are pleased to offer completely free and with no strings attached, and it’s available in all 45 states they service, except for Florida.

Home Warranty, Inc, offers your sellers up to six months of free coverage while their home is actively listed on the market. This covers 14 items in their home, including interior plumbing, interior electrical wiring, kitchen refrigerator, clothes washer and dryer, and much more. Even better, the $75 fee for the optional coverage of five types of HVAC systems is waived upon a satisfactory HVAC inspection. In turn, the buyers of your seller’s listed home enjoy peace of mind and a guarantee that claims will not be denied due to pre-existing conditions, which is always a plus. The buyers can then purchase a new Home Protection Plan, upon closing, if they so wish.

Protect Yourself with Agent Protect

Because legal action concerning a property is often initiated out of the blue, protecting yourself against

a possible post-closing legal dispute is essential. In cases involving an errors and omissions claim, Home Warranty, Inc. will reimburse your deductible up to $2,500 if certain conditions are met. These include having a Home Warranty Protection Plan on the property involved; having a current Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance policy at the time the warranty was sold for that property; and notifying Steve within 15 calendar days of being served. Steve will then assist you with submitting the claim.

Do It for Your Clients and Yourself

You’re a discerning real estate professional, and you want what’s best for your clients. Taking a moment to consider service products that can protect both you and your clients is highly worth it, and it’s something your clients will always remember. Simply put, Home Warranty, Inc. prides itself on doing what it says it will, with the terms and conditions posted in English and Spanish in legible print on its website. Also a proud corporate member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), marketing materials are also offered in Spanish.

Steve is ready and available to help you with a home warranty, so check out the sidebar and contact him for more information.

The Flower Sanctuary

As you approach this lush, storybook setting surrounded by God’s country, you feel the calming powers of nature pull you in, asking you to stay. Embraced by the comfort of the colossal cottonwood trees and the pristine grounds that are surely from another time, you’re drawn to a glorious home that crowns a floral wonderland and radiates a rustic opulence you’ve never encountered before. Welcome. You have arrived at 4114 Oxford Road, selected as Best in Show for the esteemed Hearth & Stone Luxury Home Tour.

4141 Oxford Road, Longmont

It’s not often that a truly golden opportunity comes around, but that’s exactly what happened when Chet and Kristy Anderson made the decision to step into the next chapter of their lives by placing their extraordinary home and Colorado’s largest flower farm on the market. After nurturing this Longmont farm for 40 years, this utterly magical 9.75-acre property with a historical feature and multiple built-in revenue streams has been recently reduced and is now available for the next owner at $8,494,000.

The Hearth & Stone Luxury Home Tour

The innovative idea of co-founders Jill Forman and Christy Watson, this tour showcases luxury homes with architectural significance in the Front Range and Boulder areas of Colorado, allowing feedback and networking opportunities for real estate brokers with luxury listings. Among other prerequisites, homes with the essential

features of gourmet appliances, luxury flooring, high-end fixtures, custom cabinetry and superior quality finishes are considered for tour placement. Because of these special and stringent requirements of every home on the tour, a “best in show” titleholder is truly a property of excellence that exceeds the bounds of exception.

The Jewel of the Estate

Upon stepping into this welcoming abode, you’re overcome by the sheer craftsmanship and sense of warmth, your eyes darting from glorious feature to feature. You take a breath and walk forward into a true home that magnifies relaxed, top-tier living, welcoming you to the modern country life you deserve.

Lovingly constructed in 2004, this two-level, four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home has 3,245 square feet of rustic contemporary style, featuring handsome ash hardwood and advanced radiant

flooring throughout. The expansive living room showcases a wood-burning fireplace, exquisite built-in cabinets, an intimate window niche, and two of the seven stunning French doors that open onto a south-facing, flagstone terrace, bathing the interior in an easy light that invites you to explore further.

Awestruck by the gourmet kitchen that is beyond compare, you’re inspired to craft delicious dinners from the abundance of herbs and vegetables growing in the property’s loamy soil. Graced by gentle earthen hues and contemporary granite, it’s a place you feel no hurry to take leave of, genuinely relaxing while cooking for family and friends. Compounded by the glory of high-end appliances, generous storage and an elevated lunching counter, this kitchen is a true marvel to behold.

Nothing short of an enticing, personal retreat that is always available, the lower level master bedroom holds a substantial walk-in-closet that opens to a five-piece ensuite bathroom getaway that causes you to draw that quick breath. Flanked by a delightful vine-covered balcony, refined granite and restful, contemporary fixtures, your very own personal spa houses an extra-deep soaking tub and a separate two-head steam shower that restores your vitality for every day ahead.

With three lofty bedrooms upstairs and the option to make one of them an office, you feel every comfort, including the full, impressive bathroom. A solid, broad stairway and a large laundry room round out this meticulously crafted home sanctuary. In addition, Boulder County will permit the buyer to add an extra 1,816 square feet to the main home, should you so desire.

The Historic Bader School House

A glory to witness is connected to the main home, with the graceful renovation of the historic Bader School House, built in 1887 for the school children in the Altona district. Keeping its historical significance in mind, it has been exquisitely fashioned into a light-filled, chef’s gourmet kitchen graced with luxury appliances, vaulted ceilings, comfortable dining and seating areas, radiant-heat flooring and four glass doors opening onto a flagstone terrace. Constructed of rugged stone and blessed with a centuries-old history of hard-won country education and diligence, this distinctive structure has an unforgettable presence you appreciate on every level.

is also a working farm and home to The Fresh Herb Company and The Boulder Flower Company, which grow and sell culinary herbs and flowers to Whole Foods and other vendors. Both of these long-established businesses come with the property, as well as a 15,660-sq-ft greenhouse and a 2,700sq-ft processing and packing barn with a 500-sq-ft walk-in cooler and a 200-sq-ft office. An even sweeter deal is that the property owns valuable water rights to the Left Hand Ditch stream and the irrigation well.

Kristy cheerfully states, “It’s a wideopen opportunity, with the complete farm platform already in place. A new owner can choose to stay with our proven methods, or they can use their own vision. They have the benefit of years of records, our connections and the community support we’ve enjoyed.”

A Divine Event Venue

“When people think ‘farm to table,’ that’s not always what they’re getting,” claims Kristy. “Here, we offer an authentic farm-to-table experience. People love it.”

The Boulder Flower Company also encompasses a venue to rent for events like weddings, corporate gatherings and celebrations, with a permit allowing up to 12 events per year. And if the enchanted grounds with a pond and the 50-yr-old, vine-covered arbor weren’t enough to entice those seeking celebration, the farm-to-table food and abundant flowers seal the deal.

The Boulder Farmers Market

In addition to he and Kristy beginning their farm journey from scratch four decades ago, Chet Anderson is one of the original co-founders of the esteemed Boulder Farmers Market, which features only local, producer-only vendors. The Fresh Herb Company contributes their fresh culinary herbs, flowers and succulents, and the buyer of this property will also have that right, if desired. “It’s a turnkey opportunity, everything is in place. It’s sad to let go, but we’re moving to the next chapter,” Kristy says thoughtfully. “It’s bittersweet for sure.”

The home of 4114 speaks for itself, offering a contemporary country prosperity that is so inviting, the sparkling jewel of a floral empire. Whether your client is looking to add an investment, make a career change or just enjoy high-end living with built-in income streams, a chance to obtain a property like this is a oncein-a-lifetime opportunity. GARTHWAITE GROUP

A Family Legacy in Boulder Real Estate

IN THE VIBRANT TAPESTRY OF BOULDER’S REAL ESTATE LANDSCAPE, THE GARTHWAITE GROUP EMERGES AS A BEACON OF FAMILIAL WARMTH AND UNPARALLELED DEDICATION. THIS UNIQUE VENTURE IS MORE THAN JUST A REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE; IT’S A TESTAMENT TO THE ENDURING POWER OF FAMILY BONDS.

city’s transformation over the years which has been an incredible journey for Peter and solidifies his identity as a proud Coloradoan. Initially delving into the construction business and acquiring real estate investments, Peter’s path eventually converged into a full-fledged career in real estate, spanning over three decades.

The team comprises Peter, his daughter Kayla, and his son Colman. Adding a touch of indispensable expertise is the matriarch, Heidi, the driving force behind Property Staging and Design. Playing pivotal roles are Peter’s youngest daughter, Kiki, who spearheads marketing initiatives and oversees transaction management,

and his son, Kain, contributing his expertise across various facets of the staging business.

Peter Garthwaite made the move to Boulder at the young age of 4 when his father secured a job with IBM. Growing up in Boulder has allowed him to witness the

Before affiliating with the Goodacre Group, Peter honed his construction skills, gaining a comprehensive understanding of every facet of the industry. While his tenure with Goodacre felt like family, the opportunity arose for the owners to merge with milehimodern. With Goodcare and Co. embracing a new chapter, Peter seized the chance to establish the Garthwaite Group alongside his children, Kayla and Colman, in May 2022.

Kayla Garthwaite, the managing broker of the group, brings a decade of experience to the table. She too was with

Goodacre where she worked in a team alongside Peter and eventually Colman. She says, “We had no intention of ever leaving Goodacre, but the change gave us the opportunity to create our own family dynamic for which we are grateful.” A graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder, Kayla’s commitment to her clients is unparalleled. Alongside her husband and their young son Oliver, Kayla embodies the spirit of family both in her personal and professional life.

Colman Garthwaite, also a graduate of CU Boulder, brings a distinctive touch to the team. After completing his studies, he took a hiatus and fully embraced his adventurous side, living the life of a “ski bum” for a year. Colman’s transition into the real estate realm seamlessly blends his love for the outdoors with his unwavering commitment to ensuring client satisfaction.

Heidi Garthwaite oversees the staging aspect of the business. What began as a serendipitous opportunity over 18 years ago has blossomed into a

thriving staging enterprise, enhancing the appeal of countless homes in the Boulder area. They stage over 300 homes annually, encompassing both their own listings and those of other realtors. As a distinguishing feature, they provide complimentary staging services to all their clients. Heidi says none of it would be possible without her sons, Colman and Kain, who play a vital role in making sure the staging business operates smoothly.

Integral to the team is the youngest member, Kiki, orchestrating marketing efforts and handling transaction management while currently maintaining a full-time job. Her behind-the-scenes contributions ensure the group’s continued success in a digital age. Kayla says, “She keeps us all organized, and we couldn’t do it without her.”

When asked about what roles they each play, Peter chimes in with, “We don’t adhere strictly to designated roles. Instead, we collaborate on every transaction, ensuring thorough oversight and

smooth progress for our clients. Typically, we designate a point person for each deal, often based on prior relationships with the parties involved. During busier periods, one individual may take the lead, but everyone remains involved and checks each other’s work. All three of us are engaged in every deal, although the level of involvement may vary based on the client’s relationship with each of us. As for listing appointments, the attendance of all three of us depends on various factors, including the client’s preferences and our existing relationships.”

The team believes the family aspect of their business is a rare and significant factor. Spending ample time together both professionally and personally underscores their unique family dynamic. Kayla and Colman attribute this cohesion to their parents, who cultivated an environment where familial bonds are strong and enjoyable. This tight-knit relationship offers numerous advantages, and the inherent trust among family members allows for open communication and mutual reliance on one another.

They are also committed to extending the family dynamic to their clients, making a concerted effort to ensure that clients feel like part of their family throughout the transaction process. This sentiment often materializes, as evidenced by numerous younger clients affectionately referring to Peter as their “Colorado dad.” Such client relationships underscore the team’s dedication to fostering a sense of belonging and connection beyond mere business transactions.

Embodying the essence of both work and play, this close-knit family seamlessly blends business and pleasure. Kiki spent a semester studying in Australia, which gave the family an opportunity of a lifetime to meet her in Bali. Colman states, “Our time together spanned three weeks, taking us through Bali, Thailand, and even a brief stopover in Hong Kong. Exploring the local markets of Bali and savoring traditional Thai cuisine allowed us to truly connect with the soul of these

countries. Our days were filled with shared outdoor experiences—surfing against the backdrop of breathtaking vistas, hiking to the top of volcanoes, and communing with nature in the monkey forest. The highlight of our trip was experiencing the Thai Lantern Festival together on New Year’s Eve— we joined the locals in releasing lanterns that ascended into the dark sky, carrying our wishes and reflections for the year. It was a surreal experience.”

Apart from their family travels, the family shares a love for skiing. Heidi and Peter made it a mission to introduce their kids to the sport almost as soon as they took their first steps. They all remain dedicated to the sport, making it a priority to hit the slopes together all winter long.

In true Colorado fashion, they all enjoy spending time outdoors. On a sunny day, you can find them powering up the steep side of Sanitas, checking another 14er off their list, or camping in the

Colman and Kayla are involved in the local community as members of the Young Professionals Network of Boulder. Kayla is involved with the National Brain Tumor Society. Her father-in-law’s passing from glioblastoma motivates her to participate in the annual walk and fundraising efforts. Following the devastating Marshall Fire, Colman assisted affected residents, particularly with donated furniture. Peter expresses a willingness to assist anyone in need, regardless of

organizational affiliations. He highlights a proactive attitude toward lending a hand whenever possible, reflecting a commitment to community service.

Kayla says, “Our values reflect our upbringing and the strong family values instilled by our parents. Despite their busy schedules, they always prioritized us kids and were willing to drop everything to support us. Growing up, we witnessed their hard work alongside their commitment to providing us with a childhood filled with joy and adventure. We strive to emulate this in our business by extending the same level of unconditional support and dedication to our clients. Whether it’s assisting them with decluttering, cleaning, or any other tasks above and beyond the norm of the real estate transaction, we’re always there for them.”

Peter underlines the profound reward he finds in his profession, rooted in

his genuine affinity for people and the relationships forged through his work. He says, “I just think we’re a people family. We like people and like hanging out together. I love this profession because you get to know people so well and many of my clients have become good friends over the years.” Peter appreciates the unique nature of the real estate business, which enriches both his personal and professional life. Peter has long served as a mentor, particularly evident in guiding Colman and Kayla as they entered the real estate business.

Kayla shares “Peter always advised Colman and me to embrace the roller coaster of the business world, cautioning against letting emotions take control. He stressed the constant flux of ups and downs, especially for new agents transitioning from traditional jobs. His guidance emphasized staying humble, driven, and authentic, rather than conforming to perceived industry norms.”

Colman adds, “Kayla and I were fortunate to have our dad as a reliable mentor, and I would recommend finding a mentor to any new agent. Breaking into this industry isn’t simple, and progress can be slow in the first year or two. My advice is to persevere, seek guidance from someone experienced, and avoid comparing yourself to others. Focus on what works best for you. There will be challenges but this can be a very fun career!”

The Garthwaite Group’s approach to real estate transcends transactional boundaries; it’s about building lasting relationships. Their commitment to their clients goes beyond the confines of business, fostering a sense of community and belonging. From staging homes to guiding clients through life’s milestones, the Garthwaite family exemplifies the true essence of personalized service and familial warmth.

AS A BROKER WITH A BACKGROUND IN INTERIOR DESIGN, MAGGI KELLY COSTELLO IS THE PERFECT CHOICE TO LEAD A HOMEBUYING QUEST.

Warm and genuine, you don’t have to spend much time with Maggi Kelly Costello before her intelligence and personality shine through. “What you see is what you get,” she happily states. Dedicated to her Christian faith, her family, and her real estate career, she has been a broker for eight years, hanging her hat on a peg at LIV Sotheby’s International in both Boulder and Breckenridge, Colorado.

Holding a background in interior design and a keen eye for detail, Maggi ensures that each client finds not only a house but a home that perfectly complements their lifestyle. She strives to bring her personal touch and expertise to every transaction with a passion you’ll remember, keeping her in mind to refer to friends and family.

A LOVE STORY ROOTED IN FATE

Married to Michael Costello, a distinguished, luxury homebuilder in Breckenridge, Maggi’s personal story of how everything came together to result in her current life is nothing short of blessed happenstance. A homegrown Wisconsin girl, she and Michael grew up only 15 minutes apart from each other in Oshkosh and Neenah, making each other’s acquaintance

when she was 19. As college students, they even interacted with each other and had mutual friends in both Wisconsin and Colorado, but they didn’t date until a little later in life.

Flashing forward a few decades or so, Maggi had a full family life, married with four great kids. One day while in Breckenridge for her boys’ hockey tournament, she happened to notice a boy with the name “Costello” printed on the back of his shirt. Upon closer inspection, she noticed her old friend Michael Costello, also married, standing by the glass down by the rink, watching his son play hockey. They happily acknowledged each other, then went their separate ways. It wasn’t until they were both single a few years later that they got together to talk again.

Now married to Michael for one year after dating for three years, they love

to spend time together, whether it be biking, snowshoeing, lifting weights, pickleball or just sitting in peace with the glory of God. A favorite subject of Maggi’s, she makes no bones about the importance God has played and still plays in her life. Above all else, her faith in Jesus is the guiding force behind everything she does.

“God has answered so many prayers,” she says. “He has always provided, and he is the only reason I made it as a single mom of four kids.”

Maggi’s life events and job experiences have assisted in molding her into the strong, capable person she is today. From time spent working at Nordstrom to selling men’s custom clothing for J. Hilburn and running two coffee shops, selling real estate was a natural progression for her. It’s her unwavering faith, however, that fuels her

dedication to serving her clients with honesty, integrity, and compassion. Using the analogy of her time serving customers at Nordstrom to reference how she feels about her clients, Maggi firmly states, “Whether someone buys a $20 t-shirt or a $200 dress, you treat them the same way. They deserve a luxury experience regardless of the price point. Treat people as you would want to be treated.”

DREAMING TOGETHER:

BRECKENRIDGE & BOULDER

As a Realtor with an interior design background married to a luxury homebuilder, Maggi and Michael would like to join forces and work together on a home project someday, even if flipping it is part of the equation. Maggi’s journey in real estate is intertwined with her love for family and community. As a proud mother of four children (Isaac, Oliver, Margot,

Little did he know how his love for the outdoors and assisting his grandfather would later deliver him to his calling. Soaking up facts like a sponge, Alex found himself obsessed with becoming the most intelligent person he could be. Wanting to be prodded to new heights, a light bulb lit above his head when his friend mentioned a specific school he might consider – the St. Andrew’s boarding school in Middletown, Delaware. Alex jumped at the idea and approached his parents. Always supportive of his aspirations, they helped make his wish become a reality for his sophomore year of high school when he was accepted into the very school where the movie “Dead Poets Society” was filmed.

Structure was king to Alex, as he settled into rising early (very early) in the mornings to row with his mates in a lovely, wooded setting blessed by Mother Nature herself. It was here that he came to know the beauty of preservation, which led to a major in environmental studies when he enrolled at the University of Vermont – a definite shift left of gaining the degree in finance his father had hoped for him so that he could join him in his financial advisory business.

SERENDIPITY MEETS INSPIRATION

THE ONE TO WATCH THE ONE TO WATCH

Accomplished and excited about the future, Alex D’Allaird has found home at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in Boulder.

There’s something to be said for fresh air and sunshine allowing for clarity of thought and determination. Raised in Pennsylvania farm country with plenty of room to roam, Alex D’Allaird spent a lot of his youth outside in nature, climbing trees and even climbing the occasional barn. Visiting his grandfather’s workshop frequently, he was also drawn to construction at an early age. “I loved the country life, and I was always outside and just loving life,” he states.

Finding himself in Vermont, Alex resumed his love of climbing and dabbling in singer-songwriting activities. While there, a situation arose where his landlord fell into a coma after medical complications, resulting in a concern beyond the obvious due to the landlord’s wife having dementia and not being able to take on the duties of her husband. Having a background in construction from his farm days and genuinely desiring to help her, he stepped up to take on his newest role as property manager of three properties in exchange for free rent. He became curious about real estate when he found a broker to sell one of those properties.

After graduation, he moved back home to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, holding a detailed business plan for a rock climbing gym from a year-long college course. He shared the plan with his father, who saw such merit in it that he purchased a parcel of land to assist his son with his dream. The geotechnical survey stages then began, assessing the soil for such a large structure. Lo and behold, during this survey it was found that the original metes and bounds map made the property double the size of what they thought it would be. Recognizing a tremendous opportunity, his

father immediately subdivided the land and sold it, pocketing an instant $200k profit. The inspiration took hold and Alex was sold on real estate. He was gifted a cut from the sale by his father and soon he headed to Boulder, Colorado to begin a career in real estate.

WELCOMED INTO THE LIV SOTHEBY’S FAMILY

Alex can’t say enough good things about the Boulder agency that welcomed him with open arms. “It’s like working with friends and family,” he says. “They give me great advice and genuinely care about my success, and that doesn’t always happen,” adding, “We also have a marketing manager and a transaction coordina tor at LIV Sotheby’s, which allows me to concentrate on my job of meeting people and negotiating deals.”

What’s more, Alex discovered that he’s quite good at general contracting and flipping houses, and investors have also noticed. “I’m committed to Boulder, and I’m also committed to helping my friends build wealth and get out of renting,” he asserts.

BOULDER IS HOME

Alex has now lived in Boulder for almost four years. He has purchased a home, made many friends, loves to ski, play chess, and drive his 2023 silver Jeep Wrangler around with his Airedale Terrier, Billie. He’s also in the perfect place to be considering his interest in helping our environment.

“I love Boulder,” he emphatically states. “It feels like I’ll be here for the rest of my life. I am home.”

WHICH ORGAN OF THE BODY IS THE MVP?

ORGAN MVP?

Once upon a time the body got together and decided to have a board meeting. Here’s what went on behind closed doors. There was intense discussion to determine: “Who Is the Most Important Organ of the Body?”

The BRAIN was the first to speak. “Without me calling the shots, nothing would be accomplished.”

Then the HEART spoke up. “Without me pumping blood to your brain, you could not function.”

The ARMS laughed. “You’re both wrong; without me to put food in the mouth, nothing would work.”

The LEGS said, “I should be in charge because I carry the body wherever it needs to go.”

The STOMACH said, “I process food and give all of you energy.

Without me, your food would not digest.”

The LUNGS bellowed back, “Without me, distributing oxygen, you could not function.”

THE EYES blinked and said, “Since I must look out for all of you and tell you where the danger lurks, I am the most important body part.”

The KIDNEYS snorted, “Without me, you could not detoxify and eliminate.”

Then the COLON meekly spoke up. “I am most important because you need me to eliminate all of the garbage from your systems.”

Everyone laughed and made fun of him. “How can you be as important as we are? You’re just a smelly old sewer.” The poor colon, his feelings were hurt! He turned away and thought, “I’ll show them.” So, he just shut down! Then he sat back and waited.

The BRAIN was stupefied.

The HEART’S beat was weak and irregular.

The ARMS were weak and couldn’t lift anything.

The LEGS got wobbly.

The EYES got cloudy.

The LUNGS breathed shallowly.

The KIDNEYS quit eliminating.

The BLOOD became toxic.

The COLON looked around and decided it was time to call another meeting. It wasn’t too lively this time, but everyone was in total agreement: The COLON was unanimously voted the MVP award!

If your colon is not eliminating properly it can lead to something called autointoxication. This is when toxins that are not fully eliminated are re-absorbed back into the body, putting a huge stress on your other organs of detoxification e.g. the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin. This is why skin problems, for example, usually have their roots in colon health. On top of this, the increased toxic load puts a great strain on your immune system, which increases your susceptibility to illness and disease.

Detoxification is likely the oldest medical modality known to man. Ancient Greek, Sumerian/Babylonian, Roman, Jewish, Native American, Asian, and East Indian traditions all began the healing process with detoxification.

Toxic overload is the one thing that affects every area of your health, and most people totally ignore it. We focus on diet and supplements, but if your colon can’t absorb the

@realproducers

nutrients (because it’s toxic), then what good are they?

Think about it -- fish can’t live in toxic water, no matter how beneficial the food is that you’re feeding them. Neither can we thrive if our bodies are toxic.

And if your toilet is clogged, is the problem a broken toilet? -- Or do you need to clear the pipes?

“Constipation can undermine the whole body, including the immune system, and it is now known that irregular bowel movements can be directly related to serious health conditions as well as emotional issues such as depression.” Loretta Lanphier, NP, CN, HHP, CH

Remember: “If the sewer system in your home is backed up, your entire home is affected. Should it be any different with your body?” Norman Walker, DSc

The human body is a metabolic engine. Every system, every organ, and every cell takes in fuel to run and then eliminates waste material. Most of this waste is deposited into the colon. If this waste is not regularly eliminated, it will cause your body to be backed up with toxins, making it sluggish and unhealthy. Our bodies are integrated engineered machines. Everything has its place and there is no extra room. If one organ swells, another organ is compressed. Organs don’t work well when they are compressed, and

circulation gets interrupted. Every organ needs good circulation to bring nutrition in and eliminate waste, to be healthy.

Your body can accumulate toxins for many years without complaining, but eventually, when your organs and vital systems can no longer cope, the body starts to rebel. And it is at this point of OVERLOAD that you will experience disease.

There are many ways our bodies can become overloaded; toxins can accumulate through what we eat and drink, the air we breathe, what we put on our skin; and even by the way we think! Although the human body is designed to eliminate toxins, it can quickly become clogged, leading to toxins becoming stored in the cells and joints. This reduces the body’s ability to function properly and to heal itself. Our lack of attention on regular elimination and digestive health has made Americans high on the list of people with digestive disorders, bowel disease, and colon cancer.

Add this up, and you can see why we experience a very high incidence of constipation and have a high incidence of colon and rectal disease.

To prevent ill health, cleansing the internal systems of the body regularly is suggested. In my health care practice, I have experienced that the cleansing/detoxification process is the missing link in Western nutrition and one of the keys to well-being. Until we place as much emphasis on internal cleansing as we do on external hygiene, such as brushing our teeth, taking baths, or washing our hands and hair, we will experience health problems.

The process of detoxification or a cleansing program helps release and eliminate unwanted toxins safely. Detox supports and allows the body to heal itself; cleansing and repairing at a deep cellular level with the result that seemingly unrelated health problems often disappear permanently. No matter how far removed from the colon the problem appears, cleanse the bowel first and see what happens!
