ARCHITECTURAL SCIENCE

As a third-year architecture student, I have grown a passion to form spaces that not only meet functional needs but also inspire and connect people. I believe architecture should prioritize the integration of sustainable practices, cultural narratives, and community-focused solutions to shape a future that is inclusive, resilient, and environmentally conscious. Through my designs, I strive to research deeply and go beyond conventional intentions, ensuring every project expressively contributes to its unique site context.

Friday Harbour, Innisfil, ON
Located in Friday Harbour, Innisfil, ON, the Solid Wave includes an opening, allowing further flexibility for visitors to experience entertainment from their boats. As this location provides a marina with complete mobility with boats throughout the resort, the amphitheater is designed to prioritize that factor, expanding visitors’ abilities with their boats during their stay. The amphitheater opens out towards the lake on an incline, elevating part of the surrounding seats above the water to provide more space for the audience on boats. The overlapping membranes of steel boarding and mesh surrounding the venue structurally holds the seats. This allows the enclosed area to feel more open for the entire audience and maintain a stronger connection with the water of Lake Simcoe.

218 Dundas St. E, Toronto, ON
The Green Rise includes a grand opening with elevated shared green terraces. Residences on each floor gain direct access to outdoor spaces that are each accessed through different types of amenity spaces. Further enhancing social interactions, the terreces gradually expand throughout the upper floors to function as a shared garden for all residences, encouraging outdoor gathering spaces and a sense of cohousing. Apart from the open green spaces expanding through the floors, the spaces also extends below, creating a sunken courtyard that leads to row-housing that faces the north greenery space. The building further features a cafe and a daycare centre, responding to the commercial characteristics of the site.

Harvie Passage, Calgary, AB
Situated at the end of the Harvie Passage of the Bow River, the Harvie Horizon spans around the island that distincts the North and South channels with different functions for visitors. The bride includes two majoy curves that are designed to face a theatre-style seating for each channel. Despite the safe circultion that the bridge provides, it also serves functions, such as, a resting area after a swim and a space for an audience viewing occurring water sports. Including an access to the island at the midpoint of the bridge, further encourages the site to grow gathering spaces on the island that currently has no function. The Harvie Horizon ultimately allows the passage to emerge as an elegant landscape, redefining the relationship between the rapids and the steady flow of the Bow River.

201 Winchester St. Toronto, ON [Riverdale Farm]
The Flight is not only a pavilion for the visitors, it emphasizes the true intention of this known landmark of the Riverdale Farm. This continuous event attracts and encourages visitors to become consumers of local produce, improving sustainability and the well-being of the city. This pavilion reflects its purpose as its form replicates surrounding characteristics of the Cabbagetown neighborhood, along with using local materials.

In celebration of the Riverdale Farmer’s Market’s revival in 2016, the pavilion further ensures community participation in supporting the market’s tradition of local produce

“Local”— a broad term, yet often used to convey a narrow perspective of neighborhood characteristics. A pavilion inspired by local materials and the architectural expression of Cabbagetown.
