The initial build of the car didn’t include the blower or twin carbs for the induction. It was a simple small block Chev combo that made the Monaro a nice, tough cruiser. But like most hardcore car guys, Greg wanted more power. He blames it on his bi-polar, but we all know it’s built into our DNA to crave for more horsepower on a regular basis.

Greg did consider fitting some 8-stack injection, but ultimately, the rush of the blower set up won out.

The second incarnation of the engine saw it stretched out to 383-cubes thanks to the Scat crank, Eagle rods and SRP pistons combo. The tough bottom was the perfect platform for the modified RHS heads to be bolted to before fitting what most consider the ultimate tough-street induction system, the polished Weiand 6/71 blower and twin 600dp Holley carbs. The sight of the induction hang through the Monaro’s bonnet makes quite a statement. Greg did consider fitting some 8-stack injection, but ultimately, the rush of the blower set up won out. After breaking an engine, Greg had good friends Alex and Kris piece together the new blown combo that makes a reliable 600hp. Just the thing to get to any number of tough car events on the crowded Melbourne scene.

A stage 3, Turbo 350 auto is bolted to the pumped 383 and is fronted with a 3500-stall converter from Hugo’s and passes the power through to the narrowed nine-inch diff housing 4.11-gears, mini-spool and 31-spline axles. That’s one tough driveline.
