CRUISE TIME

With the official duties of the event over for the day, many owners headed out on the streets between Albury and Wodonga for an impromptu cruise session. Many other vehicles ventured out fore the night too with spectators lining the footpaths to take in the great atmosphere created by the cars cruising responsibly. The only issues came from ‘wannabes” in their stock daily drivers carrying on like tools to gain attention – which usually came from some of the local kids yelling out to them to “chuck a skid!” Thankfully, these clowns were light on during the night. In one stretch of road there would have been 5000 people lining the footpath with their chairs, eskys and kids in tow. Parking was at a premium with every vantage point taken – including the two big service stations! It was like taking a trip back in time to when cruising Northbourne Ave in Canberra was a big part of the Summernats…

IN THE SPOT LIGHT

Each year the event puts the “spotlight” on a different model, and in 2019 it was to be the VE, VF and VG Valiant. As part of the spotlight deal, the owners of those models made their way to the Ettamogah Pub for a group photo 44 shoot. The sight of all of these cars grouped together was something to behold. Many other models also made the short cruise to the Pub to take in the group pic and maybe a Beveridge or two…
