What’s Happening SUMMERNATS SACRED GROUND IN JEOPARDY?

The rumours have been circling and even made it into the local Canberra media that the traditional home of the Summernats, EPIC, could be rezoned for housing to make the most of the new late rail line that runs right past EPIC’s front door and into the city. Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez has told the media (and Summernats fans) that it is far from a done deal and in fact, there could be alternative plans in place that could see the venue upgraded substantially. Andy hopes that he can be involved in future planning sessions with the Government so he can keep an eye on how this pans out. I for one, can’t think of an alternative event to stage an event of that size, unless of course the Government plan to construct a whole new venue with the Summernats in mind. As they say, time will tell…

WADE WAGSTAFF MAKES QUICKEST RADIAL PASS BY AN AUSSIE

At the South Georgia Motorsport Park during the Lights Out 10 event, the Aussie put his ’57 Chev down the track in qualifying tripping the beams with a 3.791@196.47 mph. That pass put him in 21st position in the 32 car field. Although outraced in Round 1, the Aussie team was more than happy with how the event panned out for them! Stay tuned for big things from this team as they live out their dream of racing in the USA.

Raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Australia, the members of the Ratpac Inc Club have been working tirelessly on the full-tilt custom Morris dubbed “Morringe Crush” that they are raffling off for just $10 per ticket. Alternatively, you can email Deb@inkandironsydney.com With the opening of the “The Bend” facility in South Australia comes the news that Powercruise is headed to the venue over the Easter weekend! With just two months before the date to get things organised, Powercruise Promoter Michael ‘Gup’ Gilbert asked the car fraternity to enter the event before March 5th to make the 2019 inaugural event viable. “I need 600 cars to be entered by the 5th of March so I know we can put on a big show, leaving me to worry about sorting out everything else in time,” Gup said. “If we can’t get the necessary numbers, we’ll can it and concentrate on the 2020 event.” So guys, its entirely up to you. It’s all going to happen inside the Illawarra Indoor Hockey Centre in Unanderra, just south of Wollongong over the weekend of July 13/14.
