45 Ardshanavooly, Killarney 13th August 2022. R.I.P.
When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that once we shared Miss me, but let me go.
1ST ANNIVERSARY BURNS (NEE KELLIHER)
In loving memory of Miriam Burns (nee Kelliher) Ardshanavooly, and formerly Upper Park Road, Killarney.

They say there is a reason
They say that time will heal
But neither time nor reason
Will change the way we feel.
For no one knows the heartache
That lies beyond our smiles
No one knows how many times
We’ve broken down and cried.
We want to tell you something
So there won’t be any doubt
You’re so wonderful to think of
But so hard to do without.
Loved with a love beyond all telling
Missed with a grief beyond all tears.
Sadly missed by your heartbroken sisters Helen, Triona and Regina, brother Seán, and their families.
Anniversary Mass is on Saturday 12th August at 6.15pm in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney.
JESUS
For this journey we all must take And each must go alone
It’s all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know Laugh at all the things we used to do Miss me, but let me go. Loved and sadly missed by your friends and neighbours, Kaye and Jimmy.
4TH ANNIVERSARY O’LEARY
In loving memory of Brendan Joy Killarney 16th August 2022. As we lovingly remember our father Brendan on this his first anniversary, Breda, Liam, Michael, Brendan, Martin, Pat & Andrew together with Lily and the extended family wish to express our sincere thanks and gratitude.
To our friends, neighbours, family and all who called to our home, his removal, mass and burial, those far away who joined online and through your prayers. For the expressions of sympathy in person, by telephone, cards, letters, flowers and online. For the enormous support which we received of food and refreshments and journeying with us through those days. It was our father’s wish to leave this world from his own home. To achieve this we are deeply indebted to many. The ambulance personnel who brought him home, whom he regaled with his stories all the way from Tralee. The palliative care team who supported us in each step. Both Fiona and Helena who gave their time and talents unselfishly. His lifetime doctor, Dr Donal Kavanagh and in the later years Dr Ken Keoghane.
Fr. Kieran O’Brien together with the clergy and staff of the parish, for guiding and leading us with prayerful and comforting liturgies to celebrate our fathers life. To the O’Shea family and associates for the ease, dignity and care given to our father and us. The Holy Sacrifice of Mass will be offered in gratitude and thanks.
Memorare
O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
1st anniversary Mass is on Saturday 19th August at 6.15pm in St Mary’s Cathedral.

Coracow, Headford, Killarney whose 80th birthday occurs on 16th August.
Today would have been such a special day
But now it brings sadness and sorrow, If we could share just one more day If there was one tomorrow.
But birthdays are a time for reflection
To look over a year that’s past, And I can’t believe another year has gone by The time, it goes so fast.
But memories of more happier times
In my heart will stay.
I’ll treasure each and every one
Till we meet again some day.
So I will say Goodbye for now
And blow a kiss in heaven above.
To wish you a ‘Happy 80th Birthday Mom’ And send you all my love.

Always loved and remembered by your loving son Kenneth.

ALL-IRELAND FOOTBALL FINAL

to the final before succumbing to the Meath machine. Cynics might have wondered if that run was a flash in the pan, but it was only the beginning. Buoyed by their achievements in 2022, Kerry came out swinging in 2023 and powered their way to the Division 1 title in the spring.
| By Adam Moynihan
The last time Kerry won the All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship - in 1993 - they were way out on their own on the all-time leaderboard with 11 titles to their name. Cork had zero, as did Dublin.
Now, Kerry and Cork are joint-top on 11 each. Dublin are on five, edging ever closer to the traditional kingpins since their maiden victory in 2010. The Kingdom will be keen to arrest that particular trend on Sunday, while also re-establishing themselves as the game’s true superpower.
Thirty years is a long time for a Kerry team to go without an All-Ireland. Now is as good a time as any to end the drought.
Focus

Naturally, this talented group of players will only be focused on one thing: getting over the line on Sunday and securing their first All-Ireland as individuals and as a team. They came close last year when they unexpectedly made it all the way
The Munster Championship evaded them thanks to old foes Cork but their form in the All-Ireland series has been impressive. Group stage victories over Dublin and Cavan secured a home quarter-final against Meath, and a dogged performance in terrible conditions in Tralee saw them down the two-time champs and book a date with Mayo in the last four.
Kerry were dealt a massive blow when team captain Síofra O’Shea sustained an ACL injury in training the week before the semi-final but her colleagues stepped up big time in her absence. Fellow forward Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh was especially stupendous in Semple Stadium; she kicked 1-10 as Kerry ran out 1-16 to 1-11 winners.
Dominance
Dublin, meanwhile, are back on the biggest stage following a short absence. Their last final appearance came against Meath in 2021 when their quest for fivein-a-row crumbled. Remarkably, that decider in ’21 was their eighth consecutive final. They lost three-in-a-row to Cork from 2014 to 2016 before their period of dominance began in 2017.
A number of players from the four-in-arow team are still active, such as Carla Rowe, Jennifer Dunne, Lauren Magee and Sinéad Aherne.
This year the Dubs came into the group phase as top seeds after defeating Meath in the Leinster final but they were unable to get the measure of Kerry in Parnell Park. Despite losing Emma Costello and Kayleigh Cronin to yellow cards in the second half, the away side held on for a memorable win in the capital (2-8 to 1-9).

After Dublin won their semi-final against Cork, their manager Mick Bohan suggested that Kerry were “the most physical female team” he had seen and that they “bullied” Dublin during the game in Parnell Park. It will be interesting to see if referee Shane Curley buys into those attempted mind games. Surely he won’t. Kerry also defeated Dublin when the teams met in the league in February. Goals by Síofra O’Shea, Hannah O’Donoghue and Ciara Murphy propelled them to an 11-point win in Tralee, although it’s doubtful that result will have any bearing on this weekend’s showpiece finale.
Form

More significant is Dublin’s recent form and they looked really good in their knockout wins against Donegal (3-12 to
0-6) and Cork (2-19 to 0-13).

Cork are the one team who really troubled Kerry in 2023 so the fact that Dublin fairly dismantled them in their last outing should give the girls in blue real confidence.
As for Kerry, losing O’Shea is a major blow to their chances and Declan Quill and Darragh Long are also sweating on the availability of starting corner forward Hannah O’Donoghue.
That being said, there should also be plenty of confidence in their dressing room following a really positive campaign that has seen them go from strength to strength.
Dublin have been installed as favourites with the bookmakers, perhaps with that last outing against Cork in mind, and also O’Shea’s enforced absence.
There shouldn’t be a whole pile in it, though, and if Kerry put forward their best version of themselves they’ll have a great chance.
VERDICT: Kerry by a point.
Tickets for the final are available on Ticketmaster (€30 for adults and €15 for students, OAPs and U18s).
The intermediate and junior finals will also take place at Croke Park on Sunday. Clare play Kildare in the former with Down and Limerick meeting in the latter. All three matches will be shown live on TG4.
