This year’s event takes place in Maribor, Slovenia and will feature 3,600 competitors from 48 countries across Europe. Lynch will compete in the 800 metres, while his teammate is the in the medley relay.
“It is a great honour for the boys and their coaching team of Tomás Griffin, Con Lynch and Alan Delaney,” said Jeremiah Griffin of Killarney Valley AC.
“Also for all of their training partners, who work extremely hard with these brilliant athletes, and for the club committee who also work very hard on and off the track.
“These young elite athletes have performed with great commitment and success over the last period.”
Organised every two years by the European Olympic Committees, the EYOF is a key stepping-stone for young European athletes wanting to achieve Olympic glory. It gives them a first taste of what it means to compete at an Olympic style event, and encourages them to go on and compete at the Youth Olympic Games, then the European Games, and finally the Olympic Games.
