Ever since I was little, I always dreamed of being a designer of some sort and realized architecture was my passion in high school when I was able to take my first drafting course. Shortly after graduating, I began taking architecture classes at San Antonio College, which gave me the opportunity to save up money before transferring to the University of Houston and experience a separate group of professors who I can blame responsible for my passion for architecture.
Of all the courses I’ve taken, my favorites are the ones where I am able to challenge myself. This is how I knew architecture was perfect for me. Through the blood, sweat, and tears (quite literally), I have grown to love the profession as it has taught me many valuable skills. I am very self-disciplined and skilled at time management, gained proficiency in many programs I never thought I would learn, and finished projects that both impressed me and reassured me I was doing the right thing.
I am very much an aesthetician(or Romantic) and see beauty and art in everything. Additionally, I am minoring in anthropology which I believe will aid me in understanding human behaviors and how they influence architecture and the environment. As a young person who is concerned about the climate crisis, I see a lot of potential for change and growth between sustainability and the built environment and hope to be a part of it.
Overall, after four intensive but life-changing years of being an architecture student, one thing I can say for certain is that I learn to love architecture more every day.
