2022 Report to the Community
After three decades under the name “Eastside Baby Corner” (“EBC”), we’ve expanded our reach and grown our impact While our mission remains the same, (helping kids reach their full potential tomorrow by meeting their basic needs today), our geography extends far beyond the eastside, and we’re serving kids as well as expectant or postpartum mothers, not just babies Our late founder, Karen Ridlon, last year said “If I had known 32 years ago how we were going to grow, I would have never named it Eastside Baby Corner.” With years of careful consideration, community input, and research, we have evolved our message to help us better communicate our true values to a larger audience of partners, donors, volunteers, and families throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Our new logo features the hopeful “K” figure reaching for the stars, and bright and vibrant colors that represent our joyful personality We are caring and compassionate, giving and grassroots, fun and family-focused We are KidVantage
New Name, Same Mission
KidVantage provides critical care goods for children birth through age 12. These essentials give kids the advantages of warmth, health, and safety. Kids are better prepared to fulfill their own potential because of KidVantage. We supply customized orders of clothing, diapers, shoes, minds behind our colors, logo, and new look. After years of collaboration, we finally did it! We can't thank these talented individuals enough for their hard work!

school supplies, and more to counselors, nurses, case managers, and teachers for the children and families in their programs We also provide food banks and other community resource partners with cases of diapers, wipes and more Expectant and postpartum mothers receive maternity wear, personal care goods, and mother-infant support items As a result, our service partners have the advantage of concentrating their
on supporting families not collecting goods. This is all made possible by our community, the backbone of our organization, donating time, goods, and funding. KidVantage has been and will continue to be, a place that not only helps kids, but where YOU can help kids.

KidsVantage helps kids reach their full potential tomorrow by meeting basic needs today.
From the Executive Director
Jack F. Edgerton, Executive Director
As I reflect back on 2022, I truly see that it was a year of hope and opportunity At KidVantage, where we are always hopeful, 2022 allowed us the opportunity to position ourselves to be able to serve the community’s needs in a post-pandemic world.
The pandemic was still a major factor throughout 2022 As the world began to open up to a post-COVID emergency world, other factors began to surface. One that affected the families we serve, was the growth of inflation on basic goods – food, housing and transportation. These added costs put new burdens on already strained budgets, and for those families who were
struggling before the pandemic, it presented even greater challenges KidVantage met the burgeoning need in the community With a 35% increase year over year in children served and a corresponding increase of 38% in goods distributed, KidVantage broke all of its distribution records
Part of the service philosophy at KidVantage is to make sure that we have the infrastructure to support the volunteers, partners, and goods we distribute. To that end, we moved our Northshore hub from a 1,200 sq. ft. storefront in Kenmore to Shoreline. Our new 8,000 sq. ft. Hub in Shoreline is set up to meet the increasing needs we see in north King County and Snohomish County We have already added a major child serving agency in Snohomish County, ChildStrive, as well as Everett School District, and other King County partners
Last summer, we also opened our new Kent “Mini-Hub” We knew about south county need because we had been operating our Opportunity Gateway program since 2020 in south county, and we had seen the growth in need throughout the pandemic. As we were exiting the pandemic world, its aftereffects were severely limiting families in south county to make ends meet With the addition of the Mini-Hub, KidVantage was able to support this vibrant and diverse community through existing and new partners
Page 3
2022– A Year of Hope & Opportunity
Of course, let’s not forget the baby formula shortage Stores limited buying of formula (when they even had any to put on the shelves) Prices went up Families struggled more than ever before to make sure that their children had the appropriate nutrition. Our volunteers and staff were up for the challenge! Throngs of KidVantage volunteers and staff combed every store, helping us to purchase vital formula. Grateful is too small of a word for what we felt for this outpouring of love and support With all the challenges we faced sourcing formula, thanks to our volunteers there were only three orders we were not able to fill out of the hundreds of orders for baby formula
As we closed out 2022, we truly had to step up to meet the increased need in the community We began to deliver some of our biggest distributions in the history of KidVantage Volunteers and staff scrambled to keep up with the orders for toys, clothing, diapers, and other essential items We made it through with the dedication of our amazing volunteers, donors, and staff. 2022 was truly a year for the record books!
Thank you,
A KidVantage Snapshot: Your Impact
Volunteers (pictured left) from Kenworth Trucking visited one of our Hubs for a corporate volunteering event during which they prepared Halloween costumes for kids. Providing costumes is one of the ways KidVantage helps kids enjoy being kids. They can join in the festivities with their peers, strengthening their sense of belonging to the community. The children (pictured right) are recipients of costumes from KidVantage, ready to head out and Trick-or-Treat with friends and families.

21,558 volunteer hours given
Core and Community Volunteers are vital to KidVantage. With their help, kids receive the things they need, when they need them most Our volunteers help accept donations from the community, assist with backstock and storage, repairs, and most importantly, help put together custom orders for kids. In 2022, 3,695 KidVantage volunteers prepared 176 587 orders for children in our communi
221,681 items donated through drives
Community drives are one of the most fun and engaging ways in which people get involved with KidVantage. All year, drives were hosted to collect needed items In the Spring we had our big diaper drive, Diaper Derby, where 43 businesses and organizations "raced" to collect diapers. Our Winter WishGiver drives were extremely successful, 101 drives were hosted between October and December. These drives brought in new toys for the holidays, and coats to keep kids warm all winter long.
$2,397,769 was raised for kids
Thank you to the generous gifts from people at our annual Helping Kids Thrive Benefit Luncheon, individual giving throughout the year, grants, and government funding that supports our work. As an organization we rely on this to carry out our mission, and to continue being a reliable resource for the kids and families in our community. This support means children are getting the essential goods they need for a healthy start in life

KidVantage reaches families through a network of Partners
Our Agency Partners have program sites that serve as access points for those seeking assistance from KidVantage Through this network, we are able to "help the helpers" and get families the things they need, when they need them Providers (representatives) from our partner agencies place custom orders of goods for each child they work with, and pick up the items from KidVantage every week to deliver to families.

National Diaper Drive with T-Mobile Digital
T-Mobile and KidVantage partnered on a national diaper drive benefitting Hope Supply Co. in Texas, Happy Bottoms in Kansas, WeeCycle in Colorado, The Greater DC Diaper Bank in Virginia, and us KidVantage. The drive was in celebration of a baby shower for one of T-Mobile Digital’s own. Offices across the country participated, raising $3,276, matched by T-Mobile. This support provided 13,000 diaper changes and 500+ days of nourishment!
Opened 2 New KidVantage Hubs
KidVantage is dedicated to getting essentials to children and families when they need it One way we made this happen was by moving our Northshore Hub to Shoreline Moving improved our proximity to partners in North King and Snohomish Counties, and the new Hub offers more space for goods and volunteers. Down south, we pioneered a “Mini-Hub” in Kent in response to community need from our Opportunity Gate Way program. For now, our Kent Hub is serving as a distribution center, but we
Opening at Shoreline Hub have hope to continue growing our capability in the south counties.
Amazon Smiles for Miles
Pearl Leung (Head of Community Affairs- Bellevue, Amazon) took a tour of the Issaquah Hub to learn more about KidVantage and to see first-hand how we are able to keep up with the need of essential goods for our growing reach in the community. After her visit, Pearl knew we needed to get more wheels on the ground Thanks to Amazon, we now have a 2 van that will help us transport and deliver essential goods between our 4 Hubs!

Sewald's Strikeouts 4 Kids
The Seattle Mariners season is an exciting time, but 2022 was even more exciting when Paul Sewald (relief pitcher, #37) and his wife Molly reached out to KidVantage They were looking for a way to help local families with young kids after experiencing the challenges of being first-time parents themselves Paul and Molly knew that not all families have the resources they need, and wanted to help change that through Sewald’s Strikeouts 4 Kids
For every strikeout that Paul threw during the 2022 season, they donated $200 to KidVantage and encouraged Mariners fans to donate alongside them At the end of the season, Sewald’s Strikeouts 4 Kids raised over $75,000 and more than 400 fans contributed!
Helping Kids Thrive Benefit Luncheon
This was our first luncheon back in-person since before the pandemic, and it did not disappoint Our annual Thrive Luncheon is the biggest event of the year, a time when we gather our generous and dedicated supporters to reflect on the work we've done for kids, and to jumpstart work that will be done in the future. In 2022 we had ~530 attendees, announced our new name, and raised over $390,000 Angela Poe Russell returned as emcee, and our guest speaker was award-winning youth author, Christine Day, who portrayed our theme of: Help Kids Write Their Stories. She shared, "you cannot write a book for kids that does not have hope in it."
2,300 Wishes Granted During the Holidays
With the help of 100+ toy drives and our partners, KidVantage distributed over 11,000 new toys, books, games, and stuffed animals to kids This is the biggest holiday gift distribution to date, a 61% increase over 2021. We couldn't have done it without all hands-on deck, volunteers and staff worked long hours to make it all happen. Thanks to this group effort, 2,300 kids across Central Puget Sound received toys!
