COMMUNITY BUILDERS

Dear guests,
Welcome to our annual Cork & Barrel wine event series!

This year, we’re going back to our roots—featuring wineries from Walla Walla Valley. This up-and-coming wine region was also the focus of our very first Cork & Barrel in 2012. If you’re a long-time fan of Cork & Barrel, you’ll see old friends and new faces in the 14 wineries joining us this year. We are exceedingly grateful to these wineries—and the owners and winemakers who’ve traveled down to Bend—for participating in this year’s event.
Cork & Barrel was voted “Best Central Oregon Fundraiser” by readers of The Source Weekly just last year. Our event’s popularity is due in large part to the incredible wineries, chefs, restaurants, donors, and hundreds of volunteers who make Cork & Barrel fun and memorable. We are also deeply grateful to Riverhouse on the Deschutes for hosting us again this year.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, every dollar you donate or spend at Cork & Barrel goes directly toward child abuse evaluations, family support and advocacy, therapy, and education to prevent abuse. You and hundreds of your fellow community members help raise approximately 20 percent of KIDS Center’s $3.3 million annual operating budget. By joining us today, you’re making it possible for Central Oregon children and families to receive free, life-changing services, helping them to overcome the devastating effects of abuse.
Please join us in raising a glass—and your bid number—to give hope and healing to children when they need it most. Thank you for joining us at Cork & Barrel. Have a wonderful time!
Cheers!
Sandy Cummings Executive Director Chair, Board of Directors Gil Levyyou
How help.
You’re here at Cork & Barrel, and
you’re making a difference.
Over the last ten years, Cork & Barrel attendees have netted $4.8 million to help Central Oregon children overcome the devastating effects of abuse.

Every ticket sold, every auction item purchased, every donation made at Cork & Barrel powers community child abuse prevention programs and funds critical services for children impacted by abuse. Thanks to you and the 6,350 people who have attended Cork & Barrel these past ten years, local families can receive child abuse evaluations, family advocacy, and healing therapy at no cost.
You are helping break the cycle of abuse and giving hundreds of children the chance to heal and experience a brighter future.
Thank you! Tonight, the legacy continues!
Cork & Barrel’s impact on the community.
This annual fundraiser supports child abuse services for families in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties. Cork & Barrel enables KIDS Center to extend free therapy to siblings and non-offending caregivers— so the whole family can heal. Over the years, Cork & Barrel attendees like you have helped thousands of local families find hope and healing.
Cork & Barrel’s 10-Year Impact: 2013-2022
4,106 Children received child abuse evaluation services
2,631 Children and family members received therapy
3,278 Families received advocacy services

What it costs to help families heal.
Child abuse evaluations typically include a forensic interview, medical exam, and a meeting with a family advocate. These services require coordination beforehand with families and community partners, and also require extensive documentation and reporting. After the evaluation, children, siblings and non-offending caregivers can take advantage of healing therapy at no cost for as long as they need it.

Auction Guidelines
Payment
1. All payments shall be by cash, credit card, certified check, or personal check made payable to KIDS Center. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards.
2. Full payment must be made for all purchases at the conclusion of the Auction, unless payment arrangements have been made, such as payment to be coming from a stock or fund.
3. Cashiers, located in the check-in area, will accept payment after the auction, unless Purchaser has previously opted to use the Quick Check-Out method (below).
Quick Check-In and Check-Out
Quick Check-In saves time by eliminating the need to stop and pay at the Check-Out area at the end of the Auction.
1. At registration, swipe your MasterCard, VISA or American Express card, or give your credit card information to the cashier. NO CHARGES will be issued to your card unless you make purchases or donations. If you opted to keep a credit card on file from your ticket purchase, that credit card will be verified at check-in for easy checkout and payment.
2. Maximize the impact of your gift by covering your 3% credit card processing fee. Just let us know at check-in! (Cork & Barrel credit card fees cost KIDS Center almost $15,000 each year!)
3. Please verify your cell phone number to receive your unique bidding link. This will ensure only you and your authorized bidders are accessing your account for the Online Auction.
4. At the end of the evening, simply proceed to Check Out in the lobby (the same area where you checked in) to verify and claim your purchases. If no purchases are made, your card will not be charged, and any voided blank checks will be returned to you by mail.
Conditions of Purchase
1. KIDS Center and the Cork & Barrel Wine Event (the “Seller”) reserves the right to refuse admission to, or attendance by, any person at the Auction or related events.
2. The auctioneer is the agent for the Seller.
3. All wine and other items are sold “as is.” Purchasers must rely only on their own inspection and/or opinion; Seller makes no warranties, expressed or implied.
4. Seller does not warrant or represent, and expressly denies responsibility for, and in no event shall be responsible for, the accuracy or description of wines offered, or the correctness of the catalog, including, but not limited to the origin, rarity, age, genuineness, quality, quantity, or condition.
5. Unless specifically set forth, all auction items expire on July 22, 2024.
Bidding
1. All bids are per item as set forth in the catalog, unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer.
2. Seller may combine or divide any item(s) at their sole discretion.
3. Auctioneer and Seller have the right to reject any bid at any time prior to the fall of the hammer without liability. If the Auctioneer decides that any opening does not correspond with the value of the article offered, the Auctioneer may reject the bid and withdraw the item from sale; and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, the Auctioneer decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, the auctioneer may reject the advance.
4. No live auction bid shall be valid unless expressly acknowledged by the Auctioneer.
5. The highest Bidder acknowledged during the live, silent, or online auction shall be the Purchaser and therein assumes full risk and responsibility.
6. By raising a bidder paddle, making a proxy bid, or making a silent or online auction bid, the Bidder warrants that s/he will pay the full purchase price if successful.
7. The Auctioneer shall have the absolute right to resolve any dispute, reoffer, resell, or withdraw the lot in question. If any dispute arises after the sale, the Seller’s sale records shall be conclusive in all respects.
8. All items offered for sale may be subject to a minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. That minimum price may be publicly stated or confidential.
9. Silent and online auction bid closing times will be posted. At close, the highest acknowledged Bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the item.
Item Pick Up and Shipping
1. Purchases must be picked up by the purchaser prior to leaving the venue at the conclusion of the Auction. Buyers will receive a receipt listing their purchases and after reviewing and approving the receipt, they will pick up their items.
2. If buyers are not present at the conclusion, buyers may pick up items on Friday, July 28 at KIDS Center from 9 am–6 pm. Or call 541-383-5958 to make special arrangements.
3. Any item(s) not removed from the venue by the above time will be held for three (3) weeks at KIDS Center, 1375 NW Kingston Ave, Bend, OR 97703. KIDS Center will make an attempt to contact the winning bidder. If the Bidder fails to retrieve the item(s) in question by the end of the three-week period, KIDS Center will assume the Bidder has abandoned the property and relinquished it to KIDS Center, treat the Bidder’s payment as a straight donation to KIDS Center, and seek to make other use of the item(s) that the Bidder has abandoned.
4. Purchaser shall incur all shipping and insurance costs for items not picked up at the conclusion of the Auction. Shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
5. Out-of-state Bidders shall be familiar with the laws of their locality since shipping regulations, especially those pertaining to beverages of alcoholic content, vary from state to state.
6. In the event of loss or damage to any item incurred in the course of its handling or storage during the auction event and before possession is taken by the Buyer, the Buyer will be compensated as follows: 1) if the item has not been paid for, the exact amount of the bid placed will be subtracted from the Buyer’s purchases; or 2) if the item has been paid for, the Buyer will receive a refund of that bid amount.

Welcome Back!
Amavi Cellars

Amavi Cellars participated in our very first Cork & Barrel event (11 years ago!). Amavi’s name is distilled from three special words: amor, vita and vinum. Amavi signifies love, life and wine! Amavi wines are 100% estate grown. Amavi’s vineyards produce some of the most sought-after grapes in the state. Amavi is a dedicated steward of the land, and a leader in sustainable agriculture. Amavi’s meticulous Swiss winemaker, Jean-François Pellet, characterizes his time at Amavi as “a great adventure.” The estate’s Syrah and Sémillon reflect Pellet’s passion for a wine region unlike anywhere else in the world.

Welcome Back!
Bledsoe Family Winery
During his 14-year football career, Drew Bledsoe had a post-game plan. Upon his retirement in 2007, he returned to his hometown, Walla Walla, to plant his original estate vineyard, McQueen, on the southern end of the Walla Walla Valley AVA. In 2008, Drew and his wife, Maura, set out to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Their very first vintage was named a Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine of the World. Josh McDaniels, also born and raised in Walla Walla, serves as the CEO & Director of Winemaking and was named a “Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of America” from Wine Enthusiast magazine. Bledsoe opened a Wine Lounge in Bend in 2019.

Caprio Cellars
For owner and winemaker Dennis Murphy, Caprio Cellars continues his family’s passion for wine. “My ancestors viewed wine as an essential part of daily life. Sanitella, my great grandmother, knew each family in her small Italian neighborhood by their homemade wine. For her, a person’s very character was built on the quality of their craft.”
Caprio Cellars makes Bordeaux varietal blends using moderate French oak, and produces 2,000 cases per year.

Delmas Wines

Founders Mary and Steve Robertson, along with daughter (and Director of Winegrowing) Brooke
Delmas Robertson, live life close to the land. The family controls the entire process, from growing the grapes to selling the wine. Their world-class wine comes from estate vineyards—meticulously and sustainably farmed for plant balance and longevity. Delmas produces small lots of estate wines from a single vineyard. Their wines showcase distinctive qualities of that place and nowhere else.
THE WINERIESNew to Cork & Barrel!
House of Smith

Charles Smith is the visionary winemaker behind iconic brands like K Vintners and Substance. Charles has received nearly 300 scores of 95 points and above and over 1,300 scores of 90 points and above from leading wine publications. Today, House of Smith is the largest independent and winemakerowned winery in Washington State. Along the way, Smith has earned accolades such as Winery of the Year (2008) by Wine & Spirits Magazine, Winemaker of the Year (2009) by Food & Wine, and Winemaker of the Year (2014) by Wine Enthusiast.

Isenhower Cellars
Isenhower Cellars was founded in 1999 by Denise and Brett Isenhower and was the 18th winery in Walla Walla. Denise is the General Manager and Brett is the Winemaker. Brett researched every state in the West and chose Washington because of the wideopen, entrepreneurial nature of the wine business. Isenhower Cellars embraces Minimalist Winemaking, a philosophy of only light intervention in the natural process of winemaking. Grapes are primarily picked by hand and fermented at lower temperatures. This style of winemaking produces wines with a lightness of touch and a depth of character.
New to Cork & Barrel!
Lagana Cellars

A boutique winery, Lagana creates personalized wines that showcase the terroir of the Walla Walla Valley and greater Washington region. Each step of the winemaking process is purposeful and well thought out. Friends and co-owners Todd Bernave and Jason Fox create limited production, awardwinning wines that run the gamut from Cab to Pinot to Malbec and Carménère. But Todd notes, “We’re not trying to be precious—just delicious!”
THE WINERIES

New to Cork & Barrel!
Maison Bleue Winery
Founded in 2007, Maison Bleue produces terroirdriven wines using fruit from its estate vineyard at the entrance to the The Rocks District of MiltonFreewater AVA (where the Walla Walla River once flowed). Maison Bleue focuses primarily on Rhône varietals such as Syrah, Grenache and Viognier. Their winemaking is an uncompromised style of traditional techniques, gentle handling and a modest use of French oak.

Pambrun Wines

Pambrun makes elegant, terroir-driven wines from their estate and neighboring SeVein vineyards. Located on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley, SeVein is a collection of some of the highest quality vineyard land in the world, anchored by the renowned Seven Hills Vineyard. The unique microclimate of SeVein, with its rugged terroir, high elevation and both loess and fracture basalt soils, produces some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varieties in the world.
Welcome Back!
Pepper Bridge Winery
Named a Top Family Winery by Wine & Spirits, Pepper Bridge built the first state-of-the-art, gravity-flow facility in Washington state, complete with subterranean caves. Grape pulp and juice are moved from the sorting table to the tanks to the barrels via gravity, rather than by pumps. This gentle treatment of the grapes prevents the shearing of seeds and the introduction of bitter tannins. As a result, the wines have elegant textures and exquisite flavor profiles. Pepper Bridge’s Swiss Winemaker, Jean-François Pellet, is the winery’s creative force and innovator.
Three Rivers Winery

Since 1999, Three Rivers has been producing handmade wines from the remote and arid Columbia Valley AVA in Eastern Washington. The fruit comes from some of the region’s most prestigious vineyards. Their wines are defined by moderate alcohols, firm structures, and varietal accuracy… concentrated, ripe and juicy without being overblown or heavy-handed.
THE WINERIES
New to Cork & Barrel!
Truth Teller Winery

“Blended in truth. Refined in humor. Poured for play.” When Chris and Dawn Loeliger learned their Swiss name meant “jester,” they embraced humor and wit as the perfect vehicles for truth and wisdom. Truth Teller takes a light-hearted approach to winemaking, with witty blends of Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and other regional varietals.

Va Piano Vineyards
Founded by a fourth generation Walla Wallan, in 2003, Va Piano started with a 20-acre estate on the valley floor of the Walla Walla Valley. Today, Va Piano harvests grapes from four different vineyards that range from the prized SeVein slopes to hilltops on the valley’s north edge.
Every bottle of Va Piano captures the best characteristics of the region; owner/winemaker Justin Wylie focuses on small lot Cabernet Sauvignons, Syrahs and red blends. Va Piano opened a tasting room in Bend’s Old Mill District in 2016.

New to Cork & Barrel!
Valdemar Estates

Valdemar’s vineyard is located within the portion of The Rocks District in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The Rocks is well known for its deep soils of weathered cobble stones in the ancient riverbed of the Walla Walla River. Here, the growing season is compressed and intense, with added heat radiating from the stones in the summer. These unique conditions give Valdemar’s wines a distinct aromatic profile.

Tête de Cuvée Champagne–4 Bottles of the Best of the Best!!
Cue the applause! This auction lot is about to POP off the charts! One exceptionally lucky bidder will win 4 bottles of the best of the best Champagne, including two bottles from 2008, the most important vintage in the history of Champagne! These bottles will be hallmark wine additions. Our “best of the best” features 2 bottles of Dom Pérignon, a luxury brand that needs no introduction, and 2 bottles of Cristal, the icon of bubbles and bling. As if it couldn’t get any better, two of the bottles are of the 2008 vintage, widely considered to be the very best vintage of the century—thanks to that year’s ideal grape growing conditions which resulted in a superior wine. The 2008 “Chef de Cave’’ Dom Pérignon celebrates the passing of the torch from Moet and Chandon’s esteemed cellar master (Chef de Cave) Richard Geoffroy to his successor, Vincent Chaperon, who both share a vision of excellence for Dom Pérignon. The 2008 Cristal is an exquisite wine that received two 100-point scores.
This lot was procured by a generous friend of KIDS Center and longtime wine collector who guarantees the provenance of these very special bottles.
This exquisite lot is something to celebrate!

2023 Visionary Leadership Award

Our community is safer because of Jeff’s dedication to children and families in Central Oregon. As a KIDS Center supporter for more than 20 years, he served on the Board of Directors for over 10 years with half of those as the Board Chair. Always wanting to make sure every child who needed services would receive them, Jeff helped develop one of KIDS Center’s first major fundraisers, Holiday Wonder. He then worked on the Healing Hearts Luncheon and helped plan the first Cork & Barrel. Jeff’s family was involved in these efforts every step of the way, reflecting how central his family is to his life. Even today, years removed from his lengthy board tenure, Jeff remains very involved as a sponsor of Healing Hearts and Cork & Barrel. It’s a lifestyle for Jeff to share the mission and impact of KIDS Center with those he meets, hoping they too will want to join the effort to end child abuse.
Thank you, Jeff, for giving the gift of your service to our community. Thousands of lives have been made better because of you!
