Two Li le Wise Birds

Chirpy and Mirky were two li le birds. One fine day they were si ng on the branch of a tree talking with each other. Just then, Chirpy said to Mirky, "Come on Mirky, let's go and make some noise in the windows of that house. Any human being there will at least give us something to eat." Chirpy and Mirky flew down in the window of a house. Everyone in the house was doing some work. The kids were also helping in cleaning the house. Chirpy asked Mirky in surprise, "Mirky, what's happening? Everyone is at home and doing some work." Mirky said, "Don't you know Chirpy, there is a spread of some Corona virus everywhere. People are told to sit at home. No school, no work." Chirpy said, "Oh really? Is that so? Now, we will not get to hear the loud horns every day, we will not get to see the rush they make everyday. Then there will be no air, water and noise pollu on." Just then, the kid in the house switched on the tv. The tv was showing news of how people must stand at a distance from each other and stay at home. Mirky said, "Look now, these human beings need to stand at a distance from each other if they go out." Chirpy said, "If human beings have to do this, we should also try to follow this." Mirky said,"But this is for human beings only." Chirpy said, "Yes, but can we not follow it so that human beings look at us and follow the same? Just give it a try." Mirky said, "Alright Chirpy, let's inspire the human beings." Mirky then flew and sat on another window. Both the birds then chirped together from a distance. Writer-Priyanka Godse

Book Review

Junior Kumbhkarna All kids have a favourite storybook. Kukku's favourite book was about the giant Kumbhkarana who slept non stop six months and one day Kukku fell asleep just as the Kumbhkarana did! . Arundhati Venkatesh has written this cute little story. Kids will definitely love this book. The illustrations by shreyasensagoli are on point to make kids roll into laughter. . This is an amazing book for read aloud and you can do voice modulation while narrating the story to your little one. . We had very interesting conversations after we read the book. . T said that if he slept like Kukku, what he would do to wake up the big giant Kumbhkarana. . He said that he would jump on his stomach and sing ," if you are happy and you know it tap your feet" . If Kumbhkarana doesn't wake after he taps the feet then he would give him a consequence . He said that once he know that he has a consequence, Kumbhkarana would definitely wake up . . We even talked about ladoos and how much we love eating ladoos! . This book is suitable for kids 2.5 years - 5 years of age. I bought this book at an exhibition from @tulikabooks stall. It is Also available on amazon . Story

Catch The Criminal

A

mischievous thief had been roaming around the city creating chaos everywhere he went. He started with petty thefts but in the recent days, he burgled the houses of some rich and well known people which set the police on his track. The police with the help of CCTV footage had spotted him entering an old and abandoned factory in outskirts of the town. An inspector along with four constables had gone to the factory. The factory was a very large one with a huge entrance like that of a warehouse and with empty crates and boxes kept everywhere. There were no lights which made it all the more worse. On entering the factory, one constable asked the inspector, “What are we going to do sir? He could be anywhere, there are a lot of hiding places.” “We are going to catch the criminal.” The constables found this reply ridiculous but said nothing as he was their senior. Suddenly one of the constables pointed to a narrow pathway 10 feet above from the ground and said, “Look sir, there he is.” The thief had seen them and was running the other way. The constable asked, “What do we do, sir?” And the inspector said again, “We catch the criminal.” All of them started running towards the thief with their revolvers in their hand. The inspector shouted, “I will climb the stairs and go after him, you all follow him and don't let him come down.” The instructions were followed. The constables noticed that the thief was running towards a truck which they had been unable to see before because of the huge piles of boxes. The thief jumped on the truck, got inside it and accelerated the truck at full speed towards the exit. The constables all jumped towards either side to avoid the truck. One constable shot a bullet at him but the bullet missed the thief and hit the railing right where the inspector was standing. The inspector jumped in confusion and lost his balance and fell off the pathway onto the back of the truck. The thief didn't realize this due to the sound of the crates falling here and there.

12

He drove away from the place and stopped the truck on the edge of the highway to catch his breath. The inspector had held tightly to the top of the truck all the time and when he saw the thief coming out of the truck, he jumped on him and pinned him down with his pistol pointed at him. The thief was cunning and he knew the inspector was dumb so he said, “Why are you chasing me?” “I wanted to catch the criminal.” “So, you think that I am the criminal?” “Yes and I have caught the criminal.” “Do you have any proof that I am the criminal?” “I have your photo, coming out after the robbery, which was captured by the CCTV.” He showed him the picture in his mobile, it was really blur and it was difficult to make out that the person in the picture was the one that was with the inspector. The thief said, “A judge won't accept that I am the person in the picture but if you want I can bring you a picture of me very clearly committing a crime.” “Where is the picture?” “I left it at the factory, may I go and bring it to you so that you can catch the criminal that too with solid proof?” The inspector thought for a while and then said, “I want to catch the criminal so I will let you go but come back here as soon as you can.” The thief sat in the truck and drove away laughing all the while. The inspector had been waiting for him for an hour now when the constable called him, he said, “Where are you, sir?” The inspector told him all then the constable said, “So, what do we do now?” “We will go to the factory again.”“But why, sir?”“To catch the criminal.”
