Rev Keith Shepherd was 1icensed as priest in charge of the Langtons and Stonton Wyville on Sunday {7 0ctober.。 After his ordination in 1991 as priest, Keith continued in the employ of British Telecomn exercising a ministry within both his secular work place and at St Luke「s,Stocking Farm. During“the course of 1last summer,Keith realised that along with many others,his time wyith British Telecom was soon 1ikely to come to an end and requested that he be allowed to minister as a full-~time non~stipendiary Ccurate. It was within the St Luke「s community that Keith met Brenda who had come to Stocking Farm as a domiciliary midwife. Keith and Brenda were married at_ Brenda「s home parish church in Essex,and the then vicar of St Lake「s, Fr.、Henry Evans also tbok _part in the ceremony. Eventually their children,Peter and Elizabeth,arrived and were baptised at St. ILuke「s. We welcome them to this area. Many priestly duties during the interregnum have been performed by Canon Michael Spencer~Ellis of Kibworth and parishioners in the Langtons and Stonton are grateful to Michae1 and Ursula for their interest.
玖 ELLO 2 … Unless someone someWhere Ccomes up With _an _offer to be. leader of “the Kibworth Welcome Club,forty years of fellowship_Will1 certainl1y end this December.、 It is a great shame that the _Chronicle might be carrying the obituary of such a well 15bved club in our New Year issue,but that Wil1 be the result should nobody volunteer to succeed _Mrs Joan Spain as leader after 11 December.。 Joan _has been associated With the Club throughout its as treasurer and then as leader.。 She Wishes to _remain of the Club, helping her successom to .get to knoWw the ropes, but should there be no one coming forward there Wil1 be no Welcome Club for her or any of the other members to belong to、 Week1y meetings _are _on _Fridays “in the Village Hall1. These might move to Mondays, but that has not yet been decided. What is certain is that the secretary Would 1ike to 《inish soon as would the present treasurer but there is a large band of 1ladies who Wi11 continue to brew up _and arrange refreshments ˇbut _With _no “1leader, there _Will _be _no _Club. Please, someone, somewhere, offer. A 1ady has offered her time as leader after her retirement in 1995 but its this December that the decision is to be taken.。 Why should it be Close Down? Its up to you.
The Police Consultative Committee normally meets in 1arger places such as Market Harborough and Lutterworth or ˇ“Hinckliey. However its _next gathering will be in Kibworth on 16 Ilston On The Hill W1I November 7.30pm _at “the Community Centre. This arrangement _has “been ,“ requested by Ken 0sWin,Who regular1y attends these meetings . They “are open to the public and he urges any one With policing concerns to attend . We are sure many Will1 be glad to take up this opportunity, especiall1y “as there appears to be groWing concern among “villagers “that the present community poliicing is not community based. Whilst appreciating that there have“been arrests concerning local “_crime “_during late summer , policing appears to have lost the identity of a locally based officer.
