The Kipbworth CRromicie invited the JRC to update readers on plans to combat the litter problem featured on our front and back pages last month. In response the Chairman has provided the following ITeport. The contract for installation of new and/or replacement litter-bins,mentioned last month, has now been awarded. Bins in the play areas at Smeeton Road and Warwick Road are to be replaced by larger, canopied, bins. This design has also been chosen to replace the vandalised container at the School Road entrance to Warwick Road Playing Fields。Smaller bins are to be located adjacent to the seats at Smeeton Road and Warwick Road, utilising displaced bins where possible, and an additional small bin installed at Rookery Close. It is hoped that this work will be completed by the end of May.、Readers will be interested to learn that the cost of these improvements exceeds f#2000. The JRC is satisfied that the money is wellspent and would like to urge members of the public to make proper use of the new facilities. Members “_will “continue to monitor the situation. On “other _matters - “parents and youngsters will be pleased to hear that the Warwick Road swings will be restored shortly following repair. The pot-holes in Warwick Road car-park are to filled in, and low-hanging branches at this same location are to be lopped. The nearby changing ltiut is currently a Cause of great concern. Its condition certainIy Trenders it unsuitable for its intended purpose, and the matter is due to be discussed at the JRC meeting to be held just after the CRromicle goes to Press. In the meantime children should be warned to keep clear of the hut because of its hazardous condition.

Exhibition of work by Sarah Wollerton on completion of an Arts Foundation Course at Loughborough College of Art & Design. The work gained Sarah a distinction in three dimensional design. Her work makes extensive use of recycled materials - from Kibworth Tip, Gildings Skip and notably from father David「s litter pick in Foxton (especially chrome wheel trims) .
Dear Fdiltor 余 What an interesting April! CRromicle.A good spread of topics and its usual error free and pristine lay up. I was particularly struck by the clever use of the front and back pages to carry a message. As a frequent user of the footpath starting at the local Scout hut and going to Smeeton Westerby (among other destinations) I Was Prompted to write by observing mindless vandalism to the well nfanufactured notice riveted to the gate post of the first field on the Path stating“Children「s Play Area. No Dog Fouling“or words to that effect. T say words to that effect because each time the sign was placed it was, almost immediately, defaced. Actually destroyed would be more accurate. Now who did this? Adult dog owners? Children with nothing better to do7 Remember that each time the notice was replaced, (three times by my reckoning) YOU,THE KIBWORTH COUNCIL TAX PAYERS were paying to replace it. The other information contained in the article which caught my attention was this“The members of this group are from well established families - their NAMES (my capitals) have been forwarded to the CAhronicile“MNo full stop (mid sentence) undquote. Now you must read the original article to understand the implication of this but, if these young people were to be prosecuted and found guilty and, let me remind you that offensive language, underage drinking and smoking and damaging public property are all .illegal, their names would still not be published because, I suspect, that they would all be under the age when it is legal to publish their names, addresses etc,However I can think of no reason why the CRronicle should not write privately to the parents of these young People and tell them. 3 Kibworth Resident MORE LETTERS ON THE BACK PAGE
