Scjlerosis Ssociefy gains from Marjorie「s faljlents

SHOW ATHLETIC Members of the Centre raised approx 8300 by their efforts for twelve hours on Sunday 16th April for the Special 01ympics to be held in Leicester in August.。 This is in addition to the f160.00,raised at a disco in March。 The activites were: football,hockey, badminton,volleyball,poo1l, table-tennis,netball,darts,board games,computer games,tug-o-war and Founders. Durinq the day,heavy metal band “Destroyer“ , which has two members from Kibworth,played and eventually put on a performance towards the end of the twelve hours 。 The Bump Starts Scooter Club provided rides to raise money from unsuspectinq participants (1) durindq the afternoon,and we also had a 1onq visit from Terry Harrison,the Special 01ympics Games Director ,who made a special point of talkinq to

as many of the participants as possible before leavinq. We called at a house in Kibworth Harcourt and were greeted by Marjorie Bell. Marjorie is a well-known Kibworth person,having 1ived in the same house in the yillage for the past 47 years.、。 We were ushered into her lounge where we saw her beautiful Amary11is-Nirierva, a deep salmon colour 1ily. Through tender care and attention Marjorie was now reaping the rewards of no less than eight flower heads. This Christmas present of one bulb is certainly a Marjorie has been a widow for twelve years and because her husband was a multiple scLlerosis sufferer,she has devoted those years to raising money for the Market Harborough Branch of M.5. Society. Her talent for pro. ducing handicrafts such as sewing bags,pot pourri crafts and knitted toys including gnomes,mermaids and .mice has meant that many ,many pounds have been donated to this charity . Marjorie sells the majority of her work from home to friends and relations 、 Marjorie has two . Jane married and living in South Africa and Howard married and 1iving in Inverness。 ..cnd 3 more fofojs 修 At the「“Spot,fashion show held on 19th April in aid of Cancer Research, a grand total of f245 was raised. 禽 The R.N.L.I. collection for this year_produced a record total of 8615. 10 (Kibworth 5549.44 and Smeeton 865. 66). 禽 Inner Whee1l raised f300 at the jumble sale on Saturday 22nd April.
