Kibworth Primary School football team have triumphed by becoming League Champions and winners of the TebbutBrown Shield beating Little Bowden 7-0 and then clinching their success by pulling off the League Cup double and winning the Golden Nonder Trophy beat ing Nyc1iffe 3-2 in a surprising1y close match。 In the triumphant season Kibworth have won all their eight matches and have a goals aggregate of 46 - 2, which is certainl1y championship forms Against Wycliffe,the team played in difficult conditions on a bumpy pitch which made good football“「 tricky “but Kibworth went into the. lead :after five minutes. .At the end of the first half , it was_two all and Kibworth went into the 2nd half with the wind behind Lthem and netted immediatel1y through Sam Mettrick, onl1y to have Lt disallowed for off-~side.Kibworth attacked incessant1l1y and were. rewarded with an opportunist goal by Jim Anderson No more goals were scored even though NWy cliffe were penned in their own half and Kibworth ran out deserving winners to pull1 off a remarkable doub le

Plenty of trees and 1ess cars in Carlton Curl1ieu create the feeling that this yillage is not just in the countryside,but part of it、To begin the walk continue along the 1ane past the church to Burton 0very,some 1 miles away Those who prefer to walk the ields may take a shoft cut across the grassland、The bridge across the Burton Brook is under the overhead power 1ines 。 In Burton 0very,the Bell wil1 pProvide refreshment in preparation for the next stage, 3 miles to Kibworth Harcourt.、Few people walk this path because it is not signposted,and therefore,it is not clearl1y ever it starts up a 1ane called The Gravel,bears right through a gate and then _across a gravel yard into a gfass field、 The next 子 mile of path follows the same hedge 1ine through grazing land.、 For the natural historian,there is a pond which provides a habitat_ which has remained unchanged for many year 。 The rest_ of the path passes through inrensively farmed land、Here, the Burton Brook has been dredged to improywe the 1and drainage,but not without thought , A pond has been created which wil1 not on1y provide a watering

point for the cattle,but also a quiet backwater for the brook1「s wildl1ife on what is normally a fast flowing stream Except where it follows the farm track the path is muddy in the winter months and waist deep in grass during mid~Summer when the grass beside the hedge rows has gfrown to its full1 height .

Wellies or Fell1 Boots are Kecommended 。 The penultimate field is of special interest,as there is a strip of 1and under the trees and along the bottomt which has escaped modern farming methods Although some of the agficultural chemicals applied “_to the cult~ ivated area wil1 have drifted onto it, this area remains as“old undisturbed grassland“which is worth conserVing .

From the next field,the path joins the Carlton Road by a convenient1y placed seat ,just outside Kibworth Harcourt.Turning left along the roady away from Kibworth Harcourt ,and then taking the- first 1eft hand Eurn,wi11 complete the 6 mile circular walk.

The plantations. of trees beside che approach to Carlton Curlieu are always.full of aolour and worth noting .

KELVIN SEWELL SAlLBOARD ENTHUSIAST Sailboarding is one of the astest c 8growing sports in the worl1d、Known to many as windsurfing after the trade name of one particular make , it Is recognised by The Royal Yachting Assoc, ,and wil1 be an 01ympic Class in 1984.Kelvin Sewell1 of Nistow became interested after watching Sailboarding on Empingham Reservoir 18 months ago and was a founder member of the Leicester Sailboard Club。 Tuition is available at Empingham.。 Initially it is on a mock board fixed to the ground by a swivel. This enables a beginner to learn both balance (body weight against the pul1 of “the sail1) and steering (tilting the mast forward or back) 。 Kelvin reckons that after 5 hours of tuition and practice,a beginner wil11 learn to sail the board in 1ight conditions .
