50 years Servite It is fifty years since Canon E11is was ordained at St、Asaph「s Cathedral in _North Wales, where his father was Dean,and his talents and experience are still1 being used in the service of the Church. Canon ELl1is came to Kibworth 7 years ago after serving for 33 years as Vicar of Keswick in the Lake District.。 He confesses to missing the beauty of the views from his Vicarage over Derwent-water but fe1t it wise to make a complete break、 Kibworth seemed to be a suitable place from which he and his wife could maintain contact with their four sons and they have been happy 1iving here. The 7 years have been active ones for Canon Ellis looking after several parishes in the area when help was needed and regularly assisting at 5t.Mary de Castro、 His fifty years of ordination were celebrated at St、Mary de Castro by a special service followed by a reception.。 Canon and Mrs. E11is gave a luncheon party for sixty people which included many old friends and parishioners,some coming from as far afield as Keswick.
RAF Graduate James Garratt graduated in May this year from RAF Halton as a Junior Technician with a B.、Tech. National Diploma in Aerospace Studies.、 James was educated at Kibworth Primary School,Kibworth High School1 and at Robert Smythe School in Market Harborough.。 From an early age his ambition was to join the Royal Air Force and in 1984 he became a member of the 1084 Squadron Air Training Corps at the age of thirteen and threequarters. In 1987 he joined the RAF as an Apprentice Engineering Technician at RAF Halton,the no、1 School of Technical Apart from his studies , James carried out ceremonial duties and also represented the RAF in canoeJames took up his ‖ ing first posting in May and is now working on Tornadoes 、 Pictured left are members of Kibworth Harcourt Conservation Society busily planting out two new tubs which are situated near the telephone box and post box on Main Street.
Pupils aid Romania Children of Kibworth High School have been helping the children of a school in Satchinez,Romania by col1ecting shoes,soaps, shampoos , toothbrushes,books and comics. All1 of these items wil11 be taken to Romania in a lorry by Mr.Clive Langley in July. He wil1 be accompanied by a nurse from LRI and his mother-in1aW. Mr. Langley has already been to Romania and visited the High Schoo1 on 24th May,when _he introduced to pupils 5 people from Romania who were founder members of the Peoples Revolution for He has presented the High School with a Romanian Flag and Sarah Newton,who has collected the most for the Lorry, was given a Romanian doll in National Costume .
