This two year ag-mechanics program is designed to provide students with hands-on training and a paid internship at a John Deere dealership to learn how to troubleshoot, service, repair, and rebuild John Deere equipment. Upon completing this program, students will earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree and may have the opportunity for full-time employment with the dealership.
Included in this program is a hands-on internship experience with Kibble Equipment. During the internship, students will:
Work and train with experienced Service Technicians
Gain access to John Deere websites and resources
Have tremendous opportunities to learn real-world experiences
Students who would like to join the program must meet the following student qualifications:
Be at least 18 years old at the time of your first internship
Be a high school graduate or equivalent
Have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Secure internship at a local dealership before being accepted into the program
Continue employment at selected dealership for 3-5 years after graduation

Accommodations will be the responsibility of the student during their 2 years at LATC.
For students who successfully maintain the requirements listed below, TechKnowledge students will have the opportunity to obtain a housing allowance, post-graduation, during their 3-year full-time employment at Kibble Equipment.
Students will be eligible to receive $2,000 per year for 3 years. This amount will be paid out in monthly payments.
To be eligible, students must maintain:
• A GPA of 2.7 or better
• Have consistent attendance at academic classes and internships
• Demonstrate positive attitude and morale in both the classroom and dealership setting

Accommodations will be the responsibility of the student during their 2 years at NDSCS.
All first-year students, including students who have transferred in, who have completed fewer than 24 credits are REQUIRED to live on campus per the NDSCS On-Campus Living Policy.
The residence hall license agreement is in effect for the full academic year. Students that move into a residence hall are expected to remain on campus for the duration of the contract period. This includes students who are from the local area.

The Brandt Holdings TechKnowledge Diesel Technology program is a two-year Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) Degree offered to develop technically competent and professional John Deere trained Service Technicians.
TechKnowledge is a partnership between Brandt Holdings and Lake Area Technical College (LATC). Brandt Holdings sponsors the program, whereas LATC administers and operates the program to ensure the training is focused to ensure the training is focused on the most up-to-date technology, equipment, and tools. Brandt Holdings has a network of John Deere Ag and Turf Dealerships across the Midwest including Kibble Equipment, Platte Valley Equipment, and Valley Plains Equipment.
This program is exclusively for students who signed an agreement with one of these Brandt Holdings distributors before enrolling.
The program is completed in 4 semesters and 1 summer internship. Learning will take place in the classroom, lab, and at the sponsoring John Deere store in the form of an internship.
With current technological advances constantly increasing innovation, productivity, and competitiveness, the purpose of this program is to:
• Upgrade the technical professional of the incoming Service Technician
• Train students to systematically diagnose, service, and maintain John Deere products
• Provide a training experience to enable successful graduates to advance in positions after additional experience
• Provide specialized courses relevant to a Brandt Holdings John Deere Dealership
Brandt Holdings pledges to support students in their growth and education by providing technical instructional and skill development to enable students throughout their training.
The TechKnowledge program provides practical experience in the repair and maintenance of John Deere powered equipment. Students receive instruction in troubleshooting, engine analysis, disassembling engines, replacing defective parts, and reassembling machines, along with hydraulic systems, and electrical and electronic systems. In addition, courses in Communications, Social Science, Mathematics, and Behavioral Science will be required. The TechKnowledge instructors have successfully completed extensive coursework to be Certified Dealer Instructors (CDI).
The internships allow students to apply what they learned during their classroom and lab sessions. By doing so, students become familiar with the dealership environment, its organizational structure, and competencies that are expected of a professional service technician.
Prospective students must:
• Be at least 18 years old at the time of the first internship
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Meet LATC admission and academic requirements
• Obtain a sponsorship by Valley Plains Equipment, Kibble Equipment, or Platte Valley Equipment before being accepted into the program
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an employable driving record
• Take a drug test if requested at any time by the dealership
Dealership Responsibilities:
• Interview and select students for a sponsorship
• Provide 100% tuition, books, and fees
• Provide tool allowance (Contact your dealer for complete details)
• Provide paid internships for students
• Provide a laptop to use while in college and at internships
• Provide the student with John Deere computer programs
• Monitor and oversee all phases of the program to ensure success of the students
• Provide work uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) to students while working at the dealership
Student Responsibilities:
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Meet specified admission and academic criteria
• Obtain a sponsorship from a Brandt Holdings Dealership before enrolling into the program

Your first eight weeks will take place at your school for classroomstyle learning from instructors as well as utilizing the school shops. Your next eight weeks will be at your Kibble store interning and getting hands-on training from real world situations and breakdowns. You will then return to your school for eight more weeks before heading back to your Kibble store for the final eight weeks.

Founded in 1903, NDSCS is one of the oldest two-year, comprehensive, residential colleges in the nation. The main campus is located in Wahpeton, N.D. A second location, NDSCS-Fargo, is located on 19th Avenue North in Fargo, N.D.

The John Deere Tech program is a two-year Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) Degree that is designed to develop technically competent, professional John Deere equipment service technicians.
Kibble Equipment sponsors the program, and NDSCS administers and operates the program to ensure the training is focused on the most up-to-date technology, equipment, and tools. Students receive state-of-the-art technical training on John Deere equipment and related products through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on lab instruction, and supervised occupational work experience at a Kibble Equipment dealership.
This program is exclusively for students who signed an agreement with one of these Kibble Equipment dealerships before enrolling.
The John Deere Tech program takes six semesters or approximately 24 months to complete. The six semesters are divided into 10 terms, each approximately eight weeks in length. Students complete seven terms on campus and three terms at the dealership.
With current technological advances constantly increasing innovation, productivity, and competitiveness, the purpose of this program is to:
• Upgrade the technical professional of the incoming Service Technician
• Train students to systematically diagnose, service, and maintain John Deere products
• Provide a training experience to enable successful graduates to advance in positions after additional experience

The John Deere Tech instructors have successfully completed extensive coursework to be Certified Dealer Instructors (CDI).
The internships allow students to apply what they learned during their classroom and lab sessions. By doing so, students become familiar with the dealership environment, its organizational structure, and competencies that are expected of a professional service technician.
Prospective students must:
• Be at least 18 years old at the time of the first internship
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Meet NICC admission and academic requirements
• Obtain a sponsorship by Kibble Equipment before being accepted into the program
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an employable driving record
• Take a drug test if requested at any time by the dealership
Dealership Responsibilities:
• Interview and select students for a sponsorship
• Provide 100% tuition, books, and fees
• Provide tool allowance (Contact your dealer for complete details)
• Provide paid internships for students
• Provide a laptop to use while in college and at internships
• Provide the student with John Deere computer programs
• Monitor and oversee all phases of the program to ensure success of the students
• Provide work uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) to students while working at the dealership
Student Responsibilities:
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent
• Meet specified admission and academic criteria
• Obtain a sponsorship from a Kibble Equipment Dealership before enrolling into the program
• Maintain program attendance standards
• Maintain at least a 2.7 GPA while attending NDSCS
• Follow safety rules when in required areas and wear PPE
College Responsibilities:
• Maintain all student records
• Maintain a current curriculum
• Provide qualified and dedicated faculty
• Award the A.A.S degree in Diesel Technology
• Keep dealerships informed on student progress

Apply for Financial Aid
Attend NICC’s Student Orientation
Contact sponsoring dealership to apply Complete sponsorship application
Submit copy of high school or GED transcripts to sponsoring dealership
Meet with dealership managers
Job shadow at sponsoring store
The student understands if they fail to meet and/or maintain eligibility of the program requirements, they will no longer be eligible to continue in the John Deere Tech program. The student agrees to be employed full-time for a minimum of 3 years with the sponsoring dealership upon graduation from the NDSCS John Deere Tech program.
If the student leaves the program before successfully graduating from NDSCS or doesn’t fulfill the 3-year full-time post-graduation commitment, the student will be responsible for any applicable repayments.
