We at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, undertake Craft Based Design Project, a research-based module, which enables us to understand the traditional craft culture of India. These craft traditions, perfected through generations of practice are repositories of traditional wisdom- of shapes, form, technique, colors and in a larger context, a way of life. These traditions are omnipresent in India. One such craft, which overflows with its tradition, is Bamboo Craft. This craft is practiced across different states in India. Its simple intricacy is enchanting. This documentation details the Bamboo practiced in the Indian state of Goa. We visited many clusters in and around Panjim, Goa to experience, learn and explore this beautiful craft.
