Homebuyer’s Experience
Buying a new home is very exciting. At K Hovnanian®, we make sure you are taken care of every step of the way. Here is a quick overview of what to expect.

Purchase Day

Your new home journey has begun! You have signed your purchase agreement, placed an earnest money deposit, and selected permit-required options.
At the start of construction, a K. Hovnanian Construction Expert will review the plot plan and outline the major stages of construction with you. Your design selections will also be reviewed and confirmed at this meeting.
1 HR TO DO Submit mortgage loan application within 5 days of purchase.

Gold Key Introduction
1-2 HRS TO DO Bring any questions you have about the building process. This is your opportunity to ask the expert that is building your home.
Pre-Construction Process
We begin preparing the plans for the home you have selected.

K. Hovnanian’s customer-centric building and closing practice which prioritizes regular communication with you, our homebuyer, and the construction team that is building your new home. It is designed to ensure your understanding and satisfaction during the building process.

Construction Begins

Gold Key Frame Orientation
Your home is really taking shape! At this meeting a K. Hovnanian Construction Expert will lead you through your framed home to review and affirm rough electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. The next steps of the construction process will be explained. If you’ve purchased a Quick Move-In Home, this process may have been taken care of already by one of our experts. 1 HR (2-4 months after construction starts)

Closing Date Update

You will receive an update on your estimated Closing Date approximately 45 days prior to closing.
Gold Key Delivery
A K. Hovnanian Construction Expert will present you with your new home (typically day of closing). 1 HR

Closing Scheduled
You will be contacted approximately 30 days prior to confirm the date and time for your Gold Key Orientation, Gold Key Delivery and Closing Appointment. Time to finalize your financing!

You’ll sign all closing documents for transfer of title. Once your home has closed all funds are received by the closing agent. 2 HRS TO DO Bring your ID and certified funds required for closing. You will be presented with the keys to your new home.
15 MIN TO DO Contact K. Hovnanian® American Mortgage, L.L.C. to make sure all documents needed for closing have been received and lock in your interest rate, if you haven’t done so already.

Important Reminders
Make sure you contact your utility providers to set up service, schedule appointments for cable and internet providers and change your address.
Gold Key Orientation
We will lead you through the operation of your new home, provide tips on homeowner maintenance and answer any questions you have.
Closing of Title

Move-In Day
Your beautiful new home is complete and ready for you to move in!
2–3 HRS TO DO Bring any questions you may have about your home warranty and prep your final wire for cash to close.

Expect the Survey
We strive to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. We look forward to your positive feedback on the survey received 45-60 days after your closing.
