Many college students enter the workforce with a passion for volunteering. They may need to complete a certain number of hours to graduate high school, or they may want to add community service to their resume for college applications. When college students start their first year, however, many of them forget about their volunteer hours. Instead, they may participate in extracurricular activities and academic programs. These aren’t bad things, but it’s important to consider the benefits of continued volunteering in college. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that higher education levels are associated with higher levels of volunteering. In 2015, over 38% of college graduates participated in volunteering. Here are some reasons why you should too.
