ABOUT Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) is the client of this project. Their requirement was to construct a mixed-use building that will consist of shops on the ground and first floors, offices on the second and third floors, and residential apartments from the fourth to the eighth floor.

My task with this project was to propose the façade of the building along with the visualization work. The client had some interesting choices and preferences.

Primarily, double-skinned façade inspired designs were preferred, along with protruded balconies and façade elements, this evoked multiple proposals from our team.

PROPOSAL 1 The first proposal restricted the doubleskinned façade to the corner of the building, in order to compliment the building's triangular footprint. In addition, the commercial part of the building (offices and shops, ground to 3rd Floor) were treated with a glass façade, where as the apartment balconies incorporated wooden louvres and large, 3 foot tall concrete planters.

PROPOSAL 2 Evolution was the way to go in this project. After discussions and feedback from the client on the first proposal, I decided to propose another design. This time around, I decided to reduce the double-skinned façade in favor of protruded rectangular elements throughout the façade of the building.

These were done to reduce the open glass façade area on the building's surface to shield the building from excessive heat gain through direct sunlight. Furthermore, the wooden louvres have now been changed to a metal material, with a pattern design. This enables the design to have more protection from sunlight while also being aesthetically pleasing compared to the wooden louvres in proposal 1.

PROPOSAL 3 With the third proposal, I wanted to maximize the variety of my proposed designs of the façade. Hence, decided to incorporate the double skinned façade element evenly throughout the building..

Choice of colours is also different in this proposal, I decided to opt for brighter colours to contrast the darker elements in the building's façade.

This Proposal also minimizes the direct sun exposure on the glass elements, to ensure that excessive heat gain can be avoided.

ABOUT This project was situated in the suburbs of Peshawar. My task with this project was to design the façade and to visualize the proposal for the client.

Our client, Mr. Ahmed Butt, had expressed his desire of modern facades. It was his requirement that the façade must have a contemporary look and feel. Another desired element was the use of light bars and slits to ornament the façade of the house.

In my proposal, I gave special consideration to the materials used. Plain white painted walls as the base of the façade, contrasting black/grey concrete elements on planters and window borders, Rough textured stone tiles as the focal point around the entrance of the house, behind it grooved concrete surface to allow the stone element to be emphasized are all elements. Furthermore, large frosted glass windows are proposed, to further compliment the modern contemporary style of the house.

ABOUT Our company had acquired the tender for this project. IT Institute was Pakistan Air Force's project, and it included various aspects that we had to develop proposals for. The project was initially restricted to the refurbishment of an existing block, where the existing IT institute is located. However, as the project developed, it was decided that another block will be built from the ground up in order to facilitate additional programs like rental spaces, conference/meeting rooms and to also serve as an expansion of the existing institute.

Our team approached this project with a modern design. Use of inclined columns, glass façade and simple lines were prominent in the building's exterior.

The façade and planning was done by our team's senior Architects, my scope of work included visualization and animation of the project that were used in our proposal meetings with the Pakistan Air force.

INTERIOR DESIGN For the interior of this project it was important to take into consideration the demography of the project. The building will primarily cater to IT students and hence a youthful approach was the ideal way to go.

As a result, use of vibrant colours and an abstract, contemporary approach in design is evident in the interior spaces of the project.

INTERIOR DESIGN Use of lighting within the developed design for the spaces is also a constant in the interior theme. The idea was to accentuate Certain elements of the design.

ABOUT Nankana Sahib Police Station project was a renovation project. The client needed our services to refurbish the walls, floors and ceilings for the first floor of the police station. I worked primarily on the development of the ceiling design, Floor design along with the 3D modelling and the Visualization of the project. This project provided me with the opportunity to learn how an interior is designed in a professional capacity as prior to this project my experience was strictly academic.
