DMDL Construction Services, the preliminaries for on-the-job training (OJT) are paramount as they establish the foundation for a successful training program. Architect Michael De Leon, CEO of the DMDL Construction Services, along with his team and Project Supervisor Fervy San Deigo, served as the trainee's supervisor. In line with their position in the team, they ensure that both the trainees and the organization are well-prepared and aligned for a productive and meaningful learning experience. Each supervisor prepared lectures based on their lines of work, such as producing some drawings using Autocad and Revit, estimating project supplies/materials, Project Schedule, and Project site inspection. This goal-setting process ensures that the OJT program aligns with the company's strategic objectives and provides trainees with a purposeful learning experience. By setting clear goals, conducting comprehensive orientations, assigning mentors, establishing effective communication channels, and allocating the necessary resources, the company ensures that trainees have a solid foundation for their learning journey.

01.PRELIMINARIES

Mr. Fervy San Diego is the Project Supervisor of DMDL Construction Services, he plays a vital role in ensuring that the project is executed effectively, efficiently, and within the specified constraints, such as budget, timeline, and scope. Project Supervisor Fervy San Diego is typically an experienced professional who possesses strong leadership and management skills. He works closely with Engineer Erick Ramirez and AR. Michael De Leon, the CEO of DMDL Construction Services, defines project goals, develops a detailed project plan, and establishes the necessary resources and timelines.

02.TRAININGPLAN

Developing a well-thoughtout training plan is of paramount importance when it comes to implementing successful on-the-job training (OJT) programs. A training plan serves as a blueprint for the training process, providing structure, direction, and clarity for trainers and trainees. Supervisor San Diego creates a training plan, which includes a summary of the trainee's work throughout the internship period.

The whole training includes tasks related to civil engineering, such as (1) in response to an engineer or architect's request, the intern will produce some drawings, (2) the intern will estimate project supplies/materials, (3) the intern should help ensure that the project is completed on schedule, (4) the intern will occasionally review the project's site to check on its development.

In creating the training strategy, Supervisor San Diego consulted with the trainee first to understand his expectations for the internship. By doing this, it helps the trainers identify and allocate the necessary resources required for the OJT program. This includes materials, equipment, facilities, and personnel. By having a clear understanding of the required resources, trainers can ensure that they are readily available when needed, preventing delays and interruptions in the training process. Efficient resource allocation enhances the overall training experience, enabling trainees to fully engage in the learning activities. Also, compliance with regulations ensures that trainees receive the necessary instruction and guidance to work safely and responsibly within their respective fields.

This is to ensure Supervisor San Diego helps the evaluation process in identifying areas of improvement, adjust the training plan as needed, and ensure that the training program remains relevant and effective.

The first day in on-the-job training (OJT) marks the beginning of a transformative journey for trainees. It is a day filled with anticipation, excitement, and a sense of stepping into the unknown.

Supervisor San Diego and Ar. De Leon lays the groundwork for a successful training program. It is during this crucial period that trainees are introduced to the organization's culture, values, and work environment. They learn about the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, gaining an understanding of its overall purpose. This foundational knowledge provides context and meaning to their work, instilling a sense of purpose and connection from the very beginning. A strong foundation sets the stage for trainees to grow and excel in their roles.

They receive information about administrative processes, such as timekeeping, reporting lines, and employee benefits. Familiarization with the work environment, including facilities, equipment, and resources, ensures that trainees feel comfortable and confident in their surroundings. They receive on-the-job instruction, shadowing experienced colleagues and observing how tasks are performed. Trainees may have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities under the guidance of their trainers, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical situations. This hands-on experience on the first day builds confidence, accelerates learning, and bridges the gap between theory and practice. Through orientation, trainees gain the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed. The first day also serves as an opportunity for supervisors to set expectations and goals, providing trainees with a clear roadmap for their training journey. By making the first day in OJT meaningful and impactful, organizations can set trainees on a path towards growth, development, and future success in their chosen fields.

In response to an engineer or architect's request, the intern will produce some drawings.

Drawings were produced in accordance with the guidelines of the company and used a template that the company presented. Supervisor San Diego and Ar. De Leon Develop the visual analysis and represent the drawings in a thorough and eyecatching way. Get expertise and familiarity with drawing via practical experience. Additionally, create precise technical drawings. AutoCAD software has revolutionized the field of computer-aided design (CAD), enabling architects, engineers, and designers to create precise and detailed drawings with efficiency and accuracy. AutoCAD software has become an integral part of modern design and drafting processes, providing trainees with a transformative experience and invaluable learning opportunities.

Trainees embarking on their AutoCAD journey are immersed in a dynamic and comprehensive design environment. They encounter a multitude of tools, commands, and features that enable the creation of intricate and precise drawings. The initial stages may involve learning the interface and basic functionalities, gradually progressing to more complex tasks. As trainees navigate through the software, they gain firsthand experience in utilizing various tools, commands, and shortcuts, ultimately leading to enhanced efficiency and productivity. They explore concepts such as dimensioning, hatching, and creating detailed layouts.

One of the key strengths of AutoCAD is its extensive drafting capabilities. It offers precise control over individual elements and allows users to create highly detailed and customized drawings. AutoCAD provides a wide range of tools for creating and modifying geometric shapes, dimensions, and annotations. It also supports the creation of complex 3D models and the generation of realistic renderings. AutoCAD and Revit are both powerful design and drafting tools used in the AEC industry. AutoCAD is renowned for its versatility and precise drafting capabilities, while Revit focuses on collaborative BIM workflows and intelligent parametric modeling. The choice between the two depends on the specific project requirements, team collaboration needs, and personal preferences of the users.

Through iterative practice and exploration, trainees develop proficiency in interpreting and working with different file formats, collaborating with team members, and implementing revisions effectively. Attention to detail and precision become second nature as they strive for accuracy in their drawings. Problem-solving skills are honed as trainees navigate challenges, find innovative solutions, and optimize their workflows. Time management skills are refined as they learn to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.

Proficiency in AutoCAD is highly valued across various industries, making it a critical skill for trainees seeking career advancement in design, architecture, engineering, and manufacturing. Demonstrating proficiency in AutoCAD opens doors to a wide range of professional opportunities. Make precise estimates and a complete data point compilation (materials). The intern will estimate project supplies/materials. A comprehensive analysis of the training requirements and duration is conducted. This analysis helps determine the specific resources and their related costs to complete the project. Factors such as the number of trainees, the complexity of the skills taught, and the training environment are considered. These may include expenses related to employee downtime, productivity losses, and any potential disruptions to regular operations during the project period. A comprehensive budget plan is also developed based on the estimated costs.

Some standard techniques used by the DMDL Construction Servies for constructing cost estimation effectively include (1) Factors Affecting Cost Estimation, several factors influence cost estimation. These include the scope and complexity of the project, the availability and cost of resources, market conditions, inflation rates, technological requirements, and potential risks and uncertainties.

(2) Methods and Techniques can be done using various methods and techniques. Some common approaches include three-point estimation (considering best-case, worst-case, and most likely scenarios).

(3) Accuracy and Precision: Accurate cost estimation is challenging as it involves forecasting future expenses. Estimators must balance accuracy with practicality, considering the level of detail and information available,

(5) Contingency Planning: Cost estimation should include provisions for contingencies and unexpected events. A contingency buffer helps mitigate risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs. Contingencies are typically based on historical data or expert judgment. They can be adjusted as the project progresses, and (6) Continuous Improvement: Cost estimation is a skill that improves with experience and feedback. Organizations should encourage learning from past projects, capturing lessons, and refining estimation techniques to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Supervisor San Deigo also involves careful analysis, consideration of various factors, and the use of appropriate estimation methods. Accurate cost estimation contributes to successful project planning, budget management, and overall project success. Creating reliable cost estimates is a complex and multifaceted task that requires a thorough understanding of the project's scope, market conditions, materials, labor, and other critical factors.

The trainees delve into the significance of construction cost estimates, key components involved in estimating costs, and best practices to enhance accuracy. This involves identifying and quantifying all the materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for the construction project based on the project's plans and specifications. The trainees analyze the project requirements and market conditions to determine the cost of various construction materials, including concrete, steel, lumber, electrical components, plumbing fixtures, and finishing materials. Include expenses not directly tied to specific construction activities, such as permits, insurance, taxes, temporary utilities, site security, and project management overheads. By considering all relevant factors and employing best practices, trainees can develop reliable estimates that serve as a solid foundation for decision-making, budget control, and risk management. Embracing technology, collaboration, and a data-driven approach can further enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of construction cost estimates, ultimately leading to the successful completion of construction projects.

The intern should help ensure that the project is completed on schedule.

According to our Supervisor San Diego, creating a project schedule is a crucial aspect of project management. A well-defined and realistic schedule sets the foundation for successful project execution, ensuring tasks are completed within the allocated time frame. As a part of the internship program, the trainee must examine whether the construction complies with the work orders and site regulations. This involves understanding the desired outcomes, deliverables, and the specific requirements and constraints of the project. Engr. San Diego specified that a comprehensive understanding of these factors would help structure the project schedule effectively.

The trainees must estimate the time required to complete each activity. Engage subject matter experts and experienced team members to input task durations. Consider historical data, best practices, and any external factors impacting activity durations. Use techniques such as three-point estimation (optimistic, pessimistic, and most likely) to improve accuracy, such as identifying the resources needed to complete each activity. This includes human resources, equipment, materials, and other necessary inputs. Determine the availability and allocation of resources, considering factors like resource skill sets, availability calendars, and any potential resource constraints. Develop the project schedule using the activity sequence, durations, and resource allocations. This can be done using scheduling tools or software that provide visual representations, such as Gantt charts or project management software. Calculate each activity's start and end dates, considering the estimated durations and resource constraints.

As Supervisor San Diego stated that by following the key steps and best practices outlined above, project managers can develop a comprehensive and realistic schedule that serves as a roadmap for successful project execution. A well-crafted project schedule ensures that activities are completed on time, promotes resource efficiency, and contributes to overall project success.

During the trainees On-the-Job Training (OJT), trainees gain practical experience and develop essential skills in their chosen field of study. To ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of the OJT program, a Daily Time Record (DTR) is commonly used. This document serves as a record of the student's attendance, work hours, tasks performed, and overall progress. This enables supervisor to track the tasks assigned to the trainees and monitor their progress in acquiring new skills and knowledge. Each entry in the DTR includes the date and time of the trainee's arrival and departure from the workplace. It records the tasks and activities they engaged in during their time on-site, providing a clear overview of their responsibilities and learning experiences. It ensures compliance with program requirements, facilitates monitoring and evaluation, and enhances the learning experience. By accurately documenting attendance, tasks, and achievements, the DTR supports the trainee’s professional growth, provides valuable feedback, and establishes a solid foundation for future career endeavors.

TASK INVOLVED INTHE TRAINING PLAN projectsiteinspection

The intern will occasionally review the project's site to check on its development. Gives a daily or weekly status report, and they are required to cooperate with the site engineer on all activities that take place there.

Before any job is carried out on site, the intern can make sure that the quality control and safety procedures are followed appropriately and may convey the plans and expectations to everyone in the project teams. One of the essential activities in this regard is project site inspection. Site inspections involve visiting the construction site to assess its progress, compliance with safety regulations, adherence to design plans, and overall quality of work. This is to ensure the quality control throughout the construction process. In here trainees can evaluate the quality of materials, workmanship, and adherence to design specifications. By detecting and addressing deviations or deficiencies early on, they can help prevent rework, delays, and cost overruns. Daily inspections provide an opportunity to make necessary adjustments and ensure that the project aligns with the expected standards of excellence.

The trainee also will use the method of charting like Gantt Chart in which they verify that the work is being executed in the right sequence and identify any potential bottlenecks or delays. Timely detection of issues allows for prompt corrective measures, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its deadlines.

Project site inspections foster effective communication and collaboration among various stakeholders. Trainees act as intermediaries between the project team, contractors, and clients. They provide detailed reports, highlight areas of concern, and suggest improvements. This transparent exchange of information promotes better understanding and cooperation, leading to improved decision-making and overall project efficiency.

Safety is paramount in any construction project. Project site inspections help identify potential safety hazards and mitigate risks for workers and visitors. Trainees assess the implementation of safety protocols, such as proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), site cleanliness, and adherence to occupational health and safety regulations. By proactively addressing safety concerns, inspections contribute to a safer work environment, reducing accidents and injuries. This project site inspection serves as a valuable reference for project managers, stakeholders, and legal authorities. Proper documentation ensures transparency, assists in resolving disputes, and provides a historical record of the project's progress. Trainees role in quality control and risk management cannot be overstated, as they help identify deviations and rectify them in a timely manner. Overall, project site inspections serve as a valuable tool in promoting efficiency, collaboration, and the delivery of exceptional construction projects.

03.STUDENT LEARNINGS

One of the most memorable experiences in my internship at DMDL Construction Services as a CE student in Mapua is that my experience can provide me with valuable learning opportunities and insights into the practical aspects of your chosen field with valuable learning opportunities and insights into the practical aspects of my chosen field. It allows me to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in my academic studies to real-world situations. It bridges the gap between theory and practice, helping me understand how concepts and principles are implemented in the workplace. By immersing myself in a professional environment, I gain valuable insights into the industry where am training. I learned about industry trends, best practices, current challenges, and the overall dynamics of the field.

This knowledge gives me a broader perspective and helps me align my skills and aspirations with industry requirements. Working alongside professionals during OJT enhances my communication and interpersonal skills. I've learned how to effectively interact with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.

My OJT experiences provide me with opportunities to practice active listening, clear articulation of ideas, and collaboration within a team communication, and interpersonal skills. It also encourages me to think critically, analyze situations, and develop problem-solving skills. By working through these challenges under the guidance of experienced professionals, I enhance my ability to find practical solutions and think strategically. I learned to balance multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently. This skill is invaluable in any professional setting and helps improve my overall productivity.

My overall experience was a blast. It emphasizes the importance of professionalism and a strong work ethic. I've learned about punctuality, meeting expectations, taking responsibility for my task, and maintaining a positive attitude. These qualities contributed to me. As a student for growth and enhance my reputation in the near future. Throughout my OJT experience, I also have the opportunity to reflect on my progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. I gained a better understanding of my own capabilities and identified areas where I need further development. This opportunity and experience for me encourages a mindset of continuous learning and self-improvement. I believe that seeking feedback and reflecting on my progress will maximize my learning and set a solid foundation for my future care.

I learned that toolbox meeting is the first thing to do before going to your assigned work for the team know what the cause of delays and what are the potentially error that could result in the project progress. Because in the construction industry, maintaining a safe and productive work environment is of utmost importance. Toolbox meetings, also known as safety meetings or pre-start meetings, bring together workers and supervisors to discuss safety measures, address concerns, and promote effective communication. Employees can share near misses, incidents, or potential hazards they have encountered. By actively involving workers in the discussion, toolbox meetings enable the identification of safety issues that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. This open dialogue allows supervisors to address concerns promptly, implement corrective actions, and prevent accidents or injuries. Supervisors can review the correct techniques, tools, and equipment to be used for each task, emphasizing efficiency, quality, and safety. Consistent reinforcement of SOPs during toolbox meetings helps to reduce errors, minimize rework, and enhance overall project efficiency. I learned that this provide an opportunity to discuss project updates, address concerns, and align goals and expectations. Improved communication fosters teamwork, encourages collaboration, and helps build a positive work environment where everyone feels heard and valued. By actively involving workers in discussions and decision-making, they feel more invested in the project's success. Workers are more likely to take responsibility for their tasks, identify potential issues, and contribute to finding solutions. This sense of ownership enhances productivity, reduces errors, and boosts overall project outcomes. These regular meetings facilitate knowledge exchange, teamwork, and employee engagement, resulting in improved project outcomes and the well-being of the construction workforce.

03.STUDENT LEARNINGS

Like every other organizational structure, DMDL has a structure that combines elements of both functional and divisional structures. Employees are assigned to both functional departments and cross-functional project teams. Construction projects need a large number of resources. However, it is not only materials and equipment that are required for a successful construction project completion. The construction staff is frequently what makes or destroys a project. diverse positions need diverse skills, expertise, and experience, yet they are all necessary in the construction industry.

To start up from the top, (1) Architecture Michael De Leon, CEO of DMDL Construction Services. He oversees all business operations, and other C-level executives report to them. He is also responsible for the company’s success and reputation since he the public face of the company. (2) In collaboration with the company, Engineer Erick Ramirez is responsibility to guarantee that structures remain strong and safe. He is accountable for any structural failure; thus, he also must oversee the material selection, structural integrity, and the performance of field employees. (3) Project supervisor Fervy San Diego monitors the project to ensure that bills of quantities and labor requirements are handled correctly. (4) Along with Foreman Dave Sevilla and his crew oversees the day-to-day activities on the construction site. He is first and foremost, becoming a safety educator. His responsibility includes having safety conversations with workers, ensuring everyone has the necessary safety equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. He is in charge of interviewing and assessing possible new workers, as well as training them. (5) Lastly, the Safety Officer, Miss Daniella Jacobe, Miss Czerry Ann Pearl Mecayer, Sir Kevin Montilla, and Miss Princess Ann Filoteo are responsible and ensure that everyone on the working site is following safe work practices and doing their duties in a safe manner. The one that identifies and evaluates dangers, risks, and control methods for a particular operation or process. As well as conduct a continual examination of operations and processes to identify possible hazards, risks, and control measures that should be adopted to decrease these risks, including all costs associated with such implementation.

Accurate estimation of supplies and materials is a critical aspect of project planning in various industries, including construction, manufacturing, and engineering. The estimation process involves determining the quantities and costs of materials required to complete a project successfully. The estimation of supplies/materials involves accurately determining the quantities required for the project. We analyze project specifications, blueprints, and design plans to identify the specific materials needed for each stage of the project. By considering factors such as dimensions, specifications, and anticipated wastage, estimators ensure that sufficient materials are available to avoid delays and disruptions during the construction or manufacturing process.

Our supervisor also teaches us to conduct thorough research and analysis in order for us to provide accurate cost estimates, allowing project managers to allocate budgets effectively and make informed decisions. By carefully evaluating the project requirements and considering potential contingencies, we can provide a realistic cost projection that helps in budget planning and resource allocation. This prevents unnecessary financial strain and ensures that the project remains within the allocated budget throughout its execution. By determining material quantities, assessing cost factors, minimizing cost overruns, facilitating procurement and logistics, supporting time management, and enhancing project control, estimation ensures accuracy and cost efficiency. Thorough estimation enables project teams to allocate resources effectively, make informed decisions, and deliver projects on time and within budget. With accurate estimation, projects can be executed seamlessly, resulting in client satisfaction, successful outcomes, and a strong foundation for future endeavors.

Effective project scheduling is crucial for successful project execution, as it allows for optimal time management, resource allocation, and coordination of tasks. This essay explores the significance of project scheduling, emphasizing its role in optimizing time management and achieving project success. By breaking down the project into manageable tasks and assigning resources to each activity, project managers can ensure that resources are utilized effectively and are available when needed. Proper resource allocation minimizes downtime, prevents bottlenecks, and improves overall productivity, ultimately contributing to project success. They let us list the name of the manpower who are working in a daily day basis and identifying dependencies between activities, I learned that an establish a logical flow of work, ensuring that each task is completed in the appropriate order. This sequencing helps to avoid delays and rework, as well as optimize the use of resources. Effective time management through project scheduling ensures that project milestones and deadlines are met, increasing the chances of project success.

Project scheduling helps me promotes coordination and communication among the team members. By providing a visual representation of the project timeline and task assignments, scheduling facilitates a clear understanding of each team member's responsibilities. They let us inspect on a regular basis for project updates and progress reports that enable effective communication between team members, stakeholders, and clients. This promotes transparency, alignment of goals, and overall project success. By the used of Gantt Chart, we can optimize time management, facilitate resource allocation, promote coordination and communication, and enable effective monitoring and control, scheduled contributes to project success. Ensuring efficiency and maintaining quality are crucial elements that directly contribute to the successful completion of the project. One of the essential activities in this regard is project site inspection. Project Supervisor San Diego assigned us for a daily day by day inspection in the site. This involve visiting the construction site to assess its progress, compliance with safety regulations, adherence to design plans, and overall quality of work. By actively monitoring compliance, we help mitigate risks and prevent costly legal and safety issues. In here, observations and recommendations contribute to maintaining a safe and legally compliant working environment.

Project Supervisor San Diego gain insights into understanding project requirements by reviewing project plans, specifications, and contracts. They teach us how to identify and interpret the scope of work, including the specific tasks, deliverables, and objectives of the project. They let us also know what the importance of regular inspection in the site is. Because a vital aspect of project site inspections is monitoring the progress of the construction project. In here, we know whether the project is advancing according to the planned timeline and milestones. We can also verify that the work is being executed in the right sequence and identify any potential bottlenecks or delays. Timely detection of issues allows for prompt corrective measures, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its deadlines.

I’m so thankful and grateful for Ar. Michael Angelo De Leon for accepting me and my friend to work as an OJT trainee in his company. As a college student who are far away from home who has no connection to some companies here in Manila is such a very hard for me. Experiencing field works and such is such a big opportunity for me to look up for in the near future as a civil engineer. As a OJT trainee in DMDL Construction Services, I gained so much and experience much field work that can benefit me in the near future. Spending my time there thought me a valuable work experience, enabling them to bridge the gap between theory and practice in their chosen fields. Working with Ar. De Leon and his team has provided me an opportunity to measure the professional growth of students. Their ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, and demonstrate a positive attitude towards work. By assessing professional growth, OJT programs can contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals who are ready to excel in their future careers. Assessment of these skills involves evaluating their ability to effectively interact with colleagues, superiors, and clients.

The experience in DMDL Construction Services, I have gained valuable lessons that have shaped my understanding of the industry and my professional growth. I learned that theoretical concepts must be adapted and implemented in practical scenarios. This experience enhanced my understanding of the construction process and strengthened the connection between theory and practice. They are the sweetest thing ever, as Miss Czerry Ann Pearl Mecayer, also on a look out for us. Through my OJT experience, she always reminding us to always wear our safety hats and be cautious enough.

I realized the criticality of following safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment. I learned to prioritize safety measures, such as wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety guidelines, and reporting potential hazards promptly. This lesson emphasized the significance of personal responsibility and the collective effort required to ensure a safe workplace.

During my OJT, I experienced the importance of effective collaboration and teamwork. I learned to communicate and coordinate with colleagues, supervisors, and subcontractors, understanding how teamwork contributes to the successful completion of projects. This lesson highlighted the value of clear communication, active listening, and the ability to work harmoniously as a team. The construction industry is dynamic, and projects often face unexpected changes or challenges. Project Supervisor San Deigo thought us the importance of adaptability and flexibility.

During my OJT, I discovered that the ability to adjust plans, troubleshoot problems, and embrace change is crucial for project success. This lesson taught me to be open-minded, proactive, and resilient when faced with unforeseen circumstances.

Having to wake up early in the morning just to get there in time is way too hard for me as a student residence 1hr away from the site project. But one thing that our supervisor thought us is that having a determined mind and prioritizing tasks, set realistic deadlines, and manage resources efficiently, emphasized the significance of being organized, proactive, and focused to meet project milestones and deliver quality work. The construction industry is ever evolving, with new technologies, techniques, and regulations emerging regularly. Through my OJT experience, I realized the importance of continuous learning and professional development. I embraced the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, attend training sessions, and stay updated on industry advancements. This lesson instilled in me a mindset of lifelong learning and the pursuit of excellence in my chosen field. Because having to face unexpected changes or challenges in life we should learned the importance of adaptability and flexibility.

Making connections with my supervisor and the team is one of the most valuable lessons I've learnt. I need to speak with them and feel like we're all part of the same large family. We eat lunch together, and they share stories/talk while we eat. Being with them, I feel valuable and thought me the most essential lessons in life is that skill alone is insufficient. Through practical application, I bridged the gap between theory and practice, gaining insights into safety procedures, collaboration, adaptability, time management, and the importance of continuous learning. These lessons will serve as a solid foundation as I embark on my future career in the construction industry, enabling me to contribute effectively and navigate the challenges that lie ahead.

This was the most significant issue I encountered throughout my OJT. I learnt that to be successful in the actual world of work, you must be a strong communicator and have self-confidence in yourself. Every day, I strive to be a better version of myself, and I'm now working on strengthening my poor talents like this. There's always space for improvement, and I know I can do it. I believe in myself, and I'm not doing this for anyone else except myself.

Being autonomous and finding things out on your own will be thrilling in the ‘real' world. This also involves dealing with new individuals more frequently, so knowing what you're doing and enjoying it is essential. All we can do as students is study as much as we can in school, be motivated, enjoy the route we choose, and eventually try our best in whatever we do while keeping a happy attitude. Throughout that experience with DMDL Construction Services I have grown both academically and personally. These lessons will serve as a strong foundation as I transition into my future career, enabling me to navigate challenges, embrace growth opportunities, and succeed in my chosen field.

Internships play a vital role in a civil engineering student's education and professional development. As an intern, civil engineering students have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios, gain practical experience, and build a foundation for their future careers. As a civil engineering student intern, I experienced the invaluable opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The internship provided me with hands-on experience in applying the principles and concepts learned in the classroom to realworld engineering projects. I learned how to analyze design plans, perform calculations, and contribute to the overall project execution. This practical experience enhanced my understanding and deepened my appreciation for the theoretical knowledge acquired during my studies. During my internship, I had the chance to work alongside experienced professionals in the field of civil engineering. This exposure allowed me to witness and participate in various engineering tasks, such as site inspections, surveying, drafting, and project documentation. The handson experience contributed to the development of my technical competence and expanded my skill set. I gained proficiency in using engineering software, improved my drafting skills, and honed my problem-solving abilities. These technical competencies are essential for success as a civil engineer.

As a trainee in DMDL Construction Services, I had the opportunity to observe and contribute to project management activities. I learned about project scheduling, and budgeting, and enhanced more my AutoCAD and Revit Skills and resource allocation. I gained insights into the coordination and collaboration required among different stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

This exposure provided me with a holistic understanding of project management principles and the significance of effective communication, teamwork, and attention to detail in ensuring project success. These internships serve as a stepping stone for students like me to understand and embrace workplace etiquette and professionalism. During my time as an On-the-Job Training (OJT) trainee, I encountered several challenges that tested my abilities and resilience. These challenges provided me with invaluable opportunities for growth and learning. One of the initial challenges I encountered was the steep learning curve associated with entering a new working environment. I sought guidance from experienced colleagues, asked questions, and took advantage of training opportunities provided by the organization. Gradually, I became more comfortable with the new work environment and gained confidence in my abilities. Balancing the demands of OJT with academic commitments proved to be a significant challenge. Managing project deadlines, attending training sessions, and completing assignments required effective time management skills. To overcome this challenge, I developed a structured schedule, prioritized tasks, and practiced effective communication with my supervisors and academic mentors. By staying organized and disciplined, I was able to meet both academic and OJT requirements successfully. One of my significant accomplishments was successfully completing assigned project deliverables. As an OJT trainee, I was entrusted with specific tasks and responsibilities within ongoing projects. Through diligent work and attention to detail, I was able to deliver high-quality outputs within the specified deadlines. Whether it was conducting research, preparing reports, or contributing to design plans, my contributions were recognized by supervisors and positively impacted the project outcomes.

Each organization has its unique work culture and dynamics. Adapting to a new work environment and integrating into an established team posed challenges. I had to navigate different personalities, communication styles, and work processes. To overcome this challenge, I observed and learned from my colleagues, actively sought feedback, and embraced open communication.

By demonstrating a willingness to collaborate and contribute, I was able to establish positive relationships with my team members and adapt to the workplace dynamics. OJT often exposed me to high-pressure situations that required quick thinking and decision-making. Being in a real-world working environment meant that mistakes had real consequences. I actively observed their work methods, sought their guidance, and asked questions to deepen my understanding. This interaction allowed me to learn from their experiences, gain insights into industry best practices, and develop a more comprehensive understanding of the field.

My OJT experience presented me with several challenges that tested my abilities and resilience. Through proactive learning, effective time management, adaptability, and open communication, I overcame these challenges and experienced significant personal and professional growth.
