Beforeyoustart,protectyourworkingareatopreventanydamage andplaceyourpieceoffurnitureinthemiddle.Then,unscrewor coveranyhandles,knobsandhinges.
Ifyou’reworkingonalargepieceoffurniturewithflatsurfaces,it mightbequickertouseanelectricsanderforthisstep.Youwillstill needsomesandpapertohand,foranyareasthataredifficultto reach.
Ifyou’reonlypaintingthelegsofapieceoffurniture,itmaybe easiertoplaceitupsidedown.Ifyou’reusingabrandnewroller,use aspraybottletolightlycoatyourrollerwithwatertohelptheroller toabsorbmorepaint.
Toavoidstreaks,usebrushesandrollersthataresuitablefor paintingwood.
Steps to follow
Forfurniturethatisalreadypaintedorvarnished,createasmooth absorbentsurfacebygivingitagentlesandwithmediumgrain sandpaper.Thenwipeitdownwithadampclothandwaituntilthe furnitureisdry.Ifyourfurnitureisuncoated,youcanjumptostep 4. Wipethefurnituredownwithdegreaserandallowittodry.
Giveitasecondsandwithfinegrainsandpaperandremoveany dustwithadrycloth,wipeitdownagainwithdegreaserandallow ittodry.
Applyacoatofwoodprimer,usingasmallbrushforthecorners andasmallrollerforthelargersurfaces.Don’tforgettogiveyour primeragoodstirbeforeusingit!
Forthetopcolor,apply2coatsofsatinfinishpaintevenlytoavoid runsandsags.Foraprofessionalresult,checkthepainttinfor dryingtimesbetweencoatsandsanddownlightlyinbetween eachlayer.
