I’m an Emirati multidisciplinary designer and researcher based in Dubai, engaged in unconventional visual aesthetics through experimentation. I apply a dynamic playfulness in finding the insights into the research of my designs and projects.

My work ranges from: UX design, design research & strategy, graphics and illustration, editorial design, and creative writing.

CAR B U R ETOR Poster 70 x 50cm

Exhibited at Tashkeel for the PLAY exhibition.

The aim of the poster was to find an association with the word “play”, and in attempts to relate it to the Emirati youth.

The illustration ended up reflecting on the notion that the automobile has become an individualistic reflection of the personality, quality of life, and a means of individual freedom. These characteristics helped play a part of a growing development of the region’s car culture since the nation’s foundation in 1971.

INCR ED I B LY T R U E STO RI E S Playlist Cover for Spotify 70 x 70cm

Part of -ING Creative Festival Workshop.

Created in the workshop “Branding with Spotify”, where the aim was to brainstorm and design an album cover for a potential spotify playlist, the artwork was inspired by the album “The Incredible True Story” by renowned artist “Logic” where astronauts, during a mission in space, listen to the music of the album throughout their journey.

The playlist aims to expand on the music selection by adding artists similiar to the same musical themes that Logic delivers, and the design of the cover reflects the dynamic ensemble fitting for a science fiction adventure.

Fairouz has long influenced the arabian world with the eccentric beauty that has defined her music, a beauty that has been appreciated by many generations over the course of her career. This illustration not only pays tribute to the iconic artist.

The poster aims to celebrate her empowering career, as well as the lyrics that has captivated those generations of enthusiasts, but with the aim to present it in a contemporary style.

T HE FIN E A RTS C L UB Branding through Graphical Representation

Made for the Fine Arts Club at the American University of Sharjah.

When approached by the president of the Fine Arts Club, Mohammad Samara, the intention was to enable the brand to be as loud and dynamic as the efforts of the club, and was therefore designed with a bold aesthetic in mind, utilised to ensure sharp visibility in any configuration.

Along with the brand design, the club requested for a redesign of the club’s logo, resulting in a unique design inspired by the Greek goddess of victory “Nike”.

For the Celebration of the Year of Zayed (2018)

Inspired by founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, the project takes his passion of preserving heritage and showcases how the traditions and philosophies of the Emirati people have continued to help in shaping the culture of the United Arab Emirates.

This was accomplished by developing five unique postcards with illustrations, each containing descriptions in both english and arabic, as they highlight the importance of each category at the back of each postcard.

To further an understanding of research in design, the task of this project was to help in understanding how to assess the qualities of an organisation not only through their own operations, but assessing the firm in terms of how conventions in design are applied to the company as well.

In this case, “Crate & Barrel” was the company assigned to analyse the very basis of the organistion; from the strength of their brand and design implementations, to the common perception of the customer towards the company, all factors were considered to build a case for the company to address or improve in the forseeable future.

2020 S I X D EG R EES E XI T S H O W Branding through Material Exploration

Supervised by Prof. Riem Ibrahim Partners: Jace Fernandes, Mariam Jacob.

The following project proposal presents the brand implementation for the senior design exhibition titled “Six Degrees,” held annually at the Dubai Design District.

The goal was to embrace the dynamic ideas and cross-pollination of the culture and work ethics that occurs in the College of Architecture, Arts and Design. By highlighting the student culture in CAAD through the dichotomy of stable and fluid counterparts, the end result, after exploring a par30

ticular material, was a brand language that provided a representation of a futurist reality that the graduating students have called their home, conveying that of a parallel universe.

A FLU I D Y ET STA B L E M AT E RI A L. The use of “Clear Slime” was interesting enough to create a practical effect that then plays along with graphical representation, giving an eclectic and Wispy impression that fell in line with the brand language.

ENABL I N G T H E ED G E Senior Design Thesis

Supervised by Prof. Anijo Matthew Partners: Jumanah. Moshkat

The following project was a research project looking into methods to help empower employees, currently working at the organisational edge of a financial technology corporation, in preparation for the upcoming wave of automated jobs set to replace their current occupation.

The end result was proposing an innovation training program that curates a small group of the employees at the edge to become potential innovators leading the company 36

forward, by having employees work with mentors and other experts over a year to develop their ideas into reality.

TAWIE YA: A P U B L I C H E A LT H S E RV I CE Service Design Proposal

Supervised by Prof. Kiran Sajwani

The project proposal centered around a non-profit public service designed to provide healthcare and diagnosis access to individuals and groups whom may not have the time, or opportunity, to consider it.

As part of an exercise in finding means to empower people to take better care of their physical health and well-being, the service allows for requests through an application to 38

call for a vehicle with specialised diagnosis and healthcare equipment, for the function of bringing routine diagnosis and treatment to members of communities whom would most benefit, such as senior citizens, people of determination, workers in enterprise or the labour industry, and underpriveleged communities.

CE LLE QU I P L EU R E Experimental Film 25fps . 1080p

Supervised by Zinka Bejtic Partner: Ines Haddad, Mariam El Nawawey

The following experimental film developed the narrative around the persistent effects associated with depressive episodes and the notion of toxicity, in that these episodes follow the individual wherever they may be. With the conceptual narrative developed by Ines Haddad, playing the protagonist, the film was composed to convey the emotions of the protagonist to the point that she commits to disposing of the toxic feeling, only to discover that she is not alone in her struggle.

Serving as producer and co-cinematographer in the project, the film was a great opportunity to channel a balance between the insights of project management and scheduling, along with applying creative input to ensure that the film adheres to the excellent quality expected of it.

By adapting the narrative of “Alice in Wonderland” into our first experimental film, the assignment was a successful attempt for Ines Haddad, Mariam Al Nawary, and myself in experimenting with film composition and narrative. With Ines playing a curious protagonist, the film follows her descent into a path of no return.
