THE KNOWLEDGE

A Message from the Executive Principal

Welcome to a slightly shorter version of our newsletter this week as we prepare for the long weekend. Our full length newsletter will return next week as school returns to normal hours from Tuesday 25 April. It has been a pleasure to welcome your children back to school this week after our Spring Break, and although this has been a slightly shorter week due to the announcement of the Eid holiday starting tomorrow, it has been a true highlight of the academic year so far! This week, we have shown our Universal Islamic Values of benevolence and gratitude in action as students, teachers and parents worked together in the true spirit of Ramadan to give to members of the local community who are less fortunate than ourselves.

This week we were proud to welcome workers from the local community to three evenings of Iftar at KGIS led by our Student Council The students served an amazing range of food to the workers generously donated by parents and teachers. Thank you to everybody who contributed and to Sheikh Ibrahim for leading prayers each evening. The workers were truly appreciative and we look forward to making the events even bigger and better next year!

Students and teachers have also been busy distributing food and gift boxes to local families in need across the community. This was a fantastic example of active citizenship by our students! Thank you once again to everyone who donated items and to Sheikh Ibrahim for his organisation of this project.

I feel very proud to lead such an amazing and benevolent group of students and teachers. It just remains for me to wish you and your family Eid Mubarak! May Allah shower you with good health, prosperity and happiness this Eid and always.

Ramadan at KGIS

KGIS Iftar for Workers

Our Student Council welcomed over 200 workers from the local community for Iftar on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday this week. The school partnered with Al Mouj Community to welcome construction workers who are based there. Many of our parents and teachers generously donated a range of delicious appetisers, main courses, desserts and drinks for the workers to enjoy, and Azima Catering also contributed some excellent dishes.

Our guests were able to pray together with prayers led by Sheikh Ibrahim and the Arabic Department, and could then relax and enjoy being served their meal by our students. We look forward to making this an annual event at KGIS!

Thank you to Sheikh Ibrahim and the Islamic Studies Department for their leadership of this fantastic initiative and well done to all the students who contributed items for the boxes!
