THE KNOWLEDGE PARENT NEWSLETTER 12 OCTOBER 2023
A Message from the Executive Principal This week we celebrated World Mental Health Day at KGIS as part of our continued work surrounding young people’s mental health, wellbeing and the promotion of children’s rights. Students took part in special assemblies and discussions to expand their knowledge and understanding of what wellbeing is, to raise awareness of the importance of mental as well as physical health, and to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Most importantly the aim is to demonstrate to all young people with mental health issues that they are not alone, and that help and support is readily available in school. Our School Counsellor Ms. Atheer is available to all students and parents to offer support, guidance and a friendly ear. Parents can contact Ms. Atheer by emailing her: counsellor@kgis-edu.com. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable at times, and that anyone may need additional emotional support. At KGIS we take the view that positive wellbeing is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play. Through our PSHE and Homeroom curriculum we: Help young people to understand their emotions and feelings better Help young people feel comfortable to share their concerns and worries Help young people develop socially and maintain positive relationships Promote self-esteem and help young people know that their voice is important Encourage young people to be confident, to celebrate their differences and uniqueness Help young people to develop resilience and to manage setbacks Thank you to our parent community for your support in ensuring the wellbeing of our young people. Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend together!
