THE KNOWLEDGE PARENT NEWSLETTER 1 FEBRUARY 2024

A Message from the Executive Principal January has flown by and it is hard to believe that we are already into the second month of 2024! This month we are focusing on the value of 'Excellence'. We continue to set ambitious goals for excellence for all our students, providing the personalised support and help needed on their journey through school. We encourage students to always aim for excellence via our focus on continual progress in learning, and our growth mindset ethos. When we strive for excellence, we have high standards. Having high standards encourages us to make improvements, solve problems and produce quality work. It is important when encouraging excellence in our children that we don't confuse this with perfectionism. Perfectionism means setting an impossibly high standard, with no room for imperfections , and no compassion for mistakes. People who strive for excellence can accept that mistakes are part of the learning process. They don't let mistakes define them rather they use them to move their learning forward. When we expect perfection, we will inevitably be disappointed. Everyone makes mistakes no matter how smart they are or how hard they work. When we pursue excellence or high standards, we value the process, not just the outcome. When we value the process, we develop resilience and the ability to face challenges as well as successes. Please encourage your children to strive for excellence, to be adaptable, and to value the process of learning. It is important to aim for excellence, celebrate our successes and accomplishments but also to maintain balance in our lives through valuing self-care, the enjoyment of learning, the relationships built and memories made. Wishing you all a restful weekend!
