The Exhibition
Chicago has the fortune of getting to premier Hamilton: The Exhibition, a new walk-through audio tour narrated by Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as Phillipa Soo and Christopher Jackson, who played Eliza Schuyler and George Washington in the original Broadway production of the revolutionary musical. Spearheaded by creative director David Korins, the exhibit gives fans a chance to “go deeper and wider” into the background of not only Hamilton’s life, but also America’s. The remote works to automatically play narration as you enter a room, and to hear specific narration that is associated with various historical artifacts scattered throughout the exhibit. Southeast Milwaukee has a strong claim as the “beer garden capital of the U.S.” Since 2012, when Estabrook Beer Garden became Milwaukee’s first beer garden since prohibition, dozens of beer gardens have sprung up in parks and open spaces in the region. The Milwaukee County Parks system now hosts five permanent beer gardens, as well as two Traveling Beer Gardens that travel to different parks in Milwaukee County every two or three weeks in the summer. The beer gardens serve beer from the iconic Sprecher Brewery fire trucks, with 12 craft beers on tap. Bring your own steins, pint or liter glasses to save a few bucks, or pick up a limited-edition souvenir glass at the beer garden. Beer-garden classics like pretzels and brats are available, as well as food from local food trucks — and visit on a Friday or Saturday night for live music. Maggie Daley Park Maggie Daley Park is an impressive green space, conveniently connected to Millennium Park by way of the BP Bridge, that has become a favorite spot to let the kids be kids since it opened in 2014.
The three-acre Play Garden features an assortment of customdesigned slides, climbing structures and sculptures (as well as an enchanted forest) that were created in the spirit of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland to capture the imagination of the young ones.
