SUMMER: THE DONNA SUMMER MUSICAL The toes will be tapping Feb. 12-23 for this exciting tribute to the icon of the disco era and hit-making voice of a generation The inspiration for music divas everywhere was a girl from Boston who had a voice from heaven. LaDonna Adrian Gaines — better known as Donna Summer — went from gospel choir member to the “Queen of Disco,” whose music gained a global following and was a hit on dance floors in the late 1970s and early ‘80s. This is the untold story of how Summer risked everything to break through barriers and become the icon of an era. An impressive score features more than 20 of Summer’s epic hits including “Love to Love You Baby,” “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff.”
This stirring tribute “delivers the seasonal sunshine with toe-tappingly familiar songs, stellar performances, shiny costumes and a reminder of the impact of its subject on the music industry at large,” according to Entertainment Weekly. The production has also been called “the new must-see Broadway musical of the moment” by Vogue. Summer: The Donna Summer Musical is playing the James M.
