Google Account Settings Setting up a new Google account is the same on your phone or laptop, but the desktop feels easier as you have to go through fewer screens. Go to the Google registration page in your preferred web browser. Enter the name, username and password that you would like to use for your account. Keep in mind that your username will become your Gmail address, so choose something that is prepared for a lot of typing or spelling. Retype your password in the password confirmation field. This helps ensure that you do not misspell your password and are not locked out of your new account. Click Next. Enter your information If you choose your first username, the username box will turn red. Enter a different username in the text box or select one of the suggestions below the username box. Click Next. Choose again, slow Enter your date of birth and gender. Google requires that all account users be at least 13 years old and some countries have an even higher age requirement, and to have an account that can use Google Pay or a credit card to pay for anything, the account holder must be 18 years old. If desired, enter a backup phone number and / or email. These can be used to help verify your identity or log into the account if you forget your password, but they are not required. Click Next. Enter the backup information Google will present the terms, conditions and privacy policies of your Google account. Once you have read everything, click I agree. Tap I agree That's it! Your new Google account is ready, which means you can start emailing, composing documents, and more.
