North Arlington couple has been arrested in connection with the murder of their 2-month-old baby girl — and the baby’s father has been charged with first-degree murder — Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced Jan. 12. According to Musella, Aaron Medrano, 27, of Schuyler Avenue, North Arlington, the father of the baby, whose name was Giovanna, was hauled into custody (twice),

first on Dec. 30, 2021, when he was charged with second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. On Jan. 11, 2022, a week after the baby died, he was taken into custody again, this time additionally charged with first-degree murder. When he was arrested Dec. 30, Medrano was released from custody, but after he was re-arrested earlier this month, he’s been on remand (no bail) at the Bergen See BABY, Page 19

The Hope to Courage initiative was born out of De Peña’s vision to lend support to those friends, family members, township residents, fellow

parents and anyone else trying to deal with the crushing weight of stress. Hope to Courage is a holistic, interfaith, interdisciplinary program that began Sunday, Jan. 9 and runs through the end of the month. It can be accessed at no cost via Facebook, YouTube or Instagram through this website: http://qrco.de/bcfvqS.
