Harrison Police Department In Mourning Police Officer Elizabeth Delacruz, mom & Marine, dies at the age of 30 By Kevin Canessa kc@theobserver.com

H

arrison Police Officer Elizabeth Y. Delacruz of Jersey City died Tuesday, June 22, 2021, while at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. The mother of one daughter was just 30. Her funeral will be conducted from Holy Cross Church, 16 Church Square, Harrison, on Thursday, July 1, 2021. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The visitation will take place at Holy Cross Church on Wednesday, June 30, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning after 9 a.m. Her burial will

follow at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Sparta. Funeral services are under the direction of Mulligan Funeral Home, 331 Cleveland Ave., Harrison. She eventually settled in Jersey City prior to briefly living in New York. She lived a life of service and always embodied integrity, perseverance and an authentic commitment to the Harrison community in all she did. ight months after the body of a baby was found in a rubbish bin at a home in Kearny, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office still has

no answers as to the manner of death, a community remains up in arms about the delays in getting answers and very few details are known about the case. The baby’s body — he was later named Matthew by his family — has since been released by the northeast
