KROC Greetings, Kroc Friends and Family, It has been a very long and

cold winter, and we are so glad spring is finally her e. about the warmer temper atures, but about all tha t will be taking place around The Salvation Army this spring and summer. As you look through this progra m guide, you will find the re are numerous activities in which you might want to get involved. There are all sorts of fitness classes, spo leagues, spiritual activit rts ies, family nights, and eve n fellowship groups for you to jump right into. Oh, and we can’t forget about all fun to be had at the poo l! So, take a moment to cruise through this guide and see which ones might be right for you and your family— there is literally someth ing here for everyone, and you belong HERE. We are excited not only

We are almost halfway thr ough the year already, and that has been just about long enough for us to alm ost forget about those res olutions we made at the beginning of the year, but even if we have strayed from the path, or if our dedication is starting to wane, it is not too late to get back on track. When we said before there is something for everyone, it is true, and one of our goals is to hel you (our family) to get on p and stay on the road to good health—physically and spiritually. Perhaps you could use an accountab ility partner, or would like to join a new class as a way to cha nge up your routine, or maybe you find your we akness is in your spiritual walk and you need somewhere to belong. We want to stand alongside you and help you in your steps to bec oming the best you. It is not too late to make a change, and now is the time to get it right. In 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “For he says, ‘In the it time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salv ation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvatio Sometimes we put off for n.” tomorrow the things we really should be doing tod We think, “Oh, I will eat bet ay. ter tomorrow, I will read God’s word tomorrow, I’ll work out tomorrow…” But the truth is, TODAY is the day , and NOW is the time to get it right. We just have to be obedient and act on it. We don’t know what thin g you are putting off or what element in your life is under construction, but we do promise to help in any way that we can. So come on, family, let’s work on this together.

Exercise Compassion - The Kroc Center Story When you join the Kerrville Kroc Center, you’re not only exercising your body, you’re exercising compassion by helping The Salvation Army meet the needs of young people and families right here in the Hill Country. In 1998, Mrs. Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, donated $90 million to The Salvation Army to build a comprehensive community center in San Diego, California. Her goal was to create a center, supported in part by the community, where children and families would be exposed to different people, activities and arts. When Mrs. Kroc passed away in October 2003, she left $1.5 billion to The Salvation Army. This marked the largest single gift given to any single charity at one time. The gift was specifically designated to build a series of state-of-the-art Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Centers nationwide, patterned after the San Diego center. No other U.S. charity – faith-based or otherwise – has ever undertaken such a sweeping construction effort with the potential to impact millions of people. Kerrville’s Kroc Center opened its doors in November of 2010, and is the only center in Texas. Operating costs for the center are funded by sales of memberships, rentals, and events. Donations made to The Salvation Army continue to solely fund Social Service programs and outreach. In keeping with Joan Kroc’s vision, the Center is a place where all members of our community – young and old – can come together like never before, transforming countless lives in the process.

Church & Worship This Kroc center is more than just a fitness facility, pool, gym, and a community center, it is a place of worship. It’s a place where you can come just as you are and join with fellow believers to worship. There are a lot of programs going on so we think you will find a little something for everyone. Amongst our congregation you will find folks from all walks of life, lots of different cultures, different denominational backgrounds, all united together with a common desire, to love God and love people. Our goal is to love inclusively, and we can’t wait for you to join us.

CHURCH

Come as you are.

Everyone is welcome here, no matter your background, age, race, gender, church history or anything else that might differentiate us. Come and join us—just as you are! On Sunday mornings it can be so hard to get out of bed and get going, so we start at 9 a.m. with breakfast and coffee. Our rockin’ Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m., and we have classes for everyone. Following Sunday School is our Worship service, hosted in the chapel, where we join together to worship and praise God together. We invite you to come and hear the good word God has for you. Breakfast: 9 a.m. Sunday school: 9:45 a.m. Worship: 11 a.m.

The Joan B. Kroc Children’s Theater The Salvation Army Joan B. Kroc Children’s Theater provides a safe environment where talents, dreams and aspirations of children can flourish. The program reaches out to those children who would benefit most by introducing them to the world of the performing arts. With the addition our first two-act production and this past fall’s production of Hamlet, we are growing our program to continue offering the Hill Country children a positive, first-class education and introduction to the arts. For more information on our programs please contact our Performing Arts Department at (830) 315-5770 or at david_mcguff@uss.salvationarmy.org
