Cattle will sell under the standard terms and conditions of the American Angus Association. Terms are CASH. All cattle are to be paid for sale day and will not be released until settlement has been made.

A supplement sheet will be available sale day with complete and up-to-date information. Announcements from the auction block take precedence over printed information.
EPD & GENOMIC TESTING
All cattle selling have been parent verified and are AM, CA & NH free by pedigree or through DNA testing. Cataloged EPDs are current as of 2-12-2025. All bulls selling have genomic enhanced EPDs with Angus GS.
DELIVERY
Free delivery will be offered within 150 miles of May-Way. We will work with you to make travel arrangements beyond 150 miles. Bulls can be kept at May-Way until April 1st at the risk of new owner.
RETAINED INTEREST
Seller retains one-third semen revenue sharing interest in every bull selling through the sale. Full possession and salvage value sells on all bulls unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to collect semen on any bull in the sale at our expense.

All bulls for a purchase price of $5,000 or higher are fully guaranteed for their first breeding season (defined as the 90 day period immediately following turn out). All bulls are guaranteed fertile and reproductively sound and have passed BSE requirements. This guarantee does NOT cover non breeding injuries resulting from accident or poor management and the buyer assumes all risk for injury due to running bulls together or management decisions outside genetic control. For the guarantee to apply, injuries must be made by a liscensed vet and we ask that you contact us as soon as the condition is observed and before the animal is sold. We will work with you to determine whether the animal is returned or sold for salvage. If a suitable replacement bull is available, he will be offered to buyer or if buyer prefers, credit will be provided for use in the following sale, less salvage value of injured bull.

We welcome you to the 14th Annual May-Way Farms Production Sale! We want to start off by thanking you for taking the time to look through our offering and for the interest in our program. There are a variety of pedigrees and genetics to choose from that will certainly work for an array of environments and programs depending on specific goals for your personal operation.
What an exciting time to be in the cattle industry! 2025 is looking to be a year with continued record prices and high quality beef in large demand. Even in the great times, raising your bottom line and continuing to improve your herd from both a genetic and management standpoint is as important as ever.
As always, the fall bulls were developed through the summer months on fescue with protein supplement. The spring bulls were weaned in September and kicked back out on grass to help preserve feed. Neither of these groups were fed creep and went through an very dry summer and have seen extreme temperature indexes both high and low. Both sets of bulls were put on a high roughage diet while on pasture after the first of December. The bulls still remain on pasture as we feel exercise is critically

Understanding EPDs
EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCE (EPD)
is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database, EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus.
CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED)
is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicatng greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Higher numbers correlate higher ease.
BIRTH WEIGHT (BW)
expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sires ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. (EX. +3.4 BW would be predicted higher than -1.2)
WEANING WEIGHT (WW)
expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
YEARLING WEIGHT (YW)
expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
MILK (MILK)
is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is part of that calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.

WEANED CALF VALUE ($W)
an index, expressed in dollars per head, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for postweaning feedlot merit compared to the progeny of other sires.
BEEF VALUE ($B)
a terminal index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for post weaning and carcass traits.
COMBINED VALUE ($C)
an index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifers and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers will retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality based carcass grid merit.

EXAMPLE: A bull who will add 30 lbs. to the weaning weight of each of his calves mated to 25 cows per year for 4 years and you sell the calves for $3.00 per pound
30 lbs per calf X 25 cows = 750 lbs X 4 years = 3000 lbs X $3/lb = $9,000
This bull is worth $9,000 more than the average bull who will keep your weaning weights the same. Take this formula, insert figures according to your operation to see what you can afford to pay. This equation does not consider the increase in value due to calving ease, higher quality replacement heifers, yearling growth, feedlot gain, carcass quality, etc.
