Virtual Law Fair User Guide 2020
Welcome! Thank you for signing up to Kent Student Law Society’s Virtual Law Fair 2020 taking place on Wednesday 4th November 2020 from 13:00-17:00. In preparation for the virtual fair we have created this user guide outlining all the important information you will need to navigate through the platform and make the most out of this special event.
Accessing the platform The KSLS’ Law Fair 2020 will take place on the virtual events platform Hopin. Here is the link to register: https://hopin.to/events/kentstudent-law-society-virtual-law-fair-2020 (Note: You will be sent two e-mails by Hopin to access the fair, one 24 hours before and another one 1 hour before the event). Important: Please access the fair through Google Chrome as other browsers don’t offer full support for video conferencing. Stay Ahead! After you register your account with Hopin, fill in your profile so that it’s visible who you are and what your current career stage is. (Note: Please register with your Kent e-mail address otherwise you will not be permitted to join the event!) A quick look at Hopin Once you have logged into our virtual event you will notice the left sidebar panel. This panel allows you to navigate between ‘Reception’, ‘Stage’, ‘Sessions’ and ‘Expo’.
The right sidebar allows you to navigate between ‘Chat’, ‘Polls’ and ‘People’. Chat: a live chat space used to ask questions. General announcements may also be made on this function. Polls: there will be various polls for students to answer throughout the duration of the fair. People: you can look at all the attendees on the live event. This function also allows you to message and network with fellow students.
*When you receive a message a red dot will appear next to ‘People’
Stage The stage will be active only from 13:00 to 13:10, during which there will be a welcome talk from KSLS. During the welcome talk you can type in questions and comments on the live chat in the sidebar. After 13:10, the fair will officially begin and you can start interacting with firms and organisations in their expo booths, but also attend the workshops that will be held. Remember: All attendees can see what has been posted on the chat. Make sure your comments are sensible!
Expo Booths In ‘Expo’ attendees can network with speakers by entering the booth and clicking ‘Share Audio and Video’ to ask questions directly to the speakers. Only 10 people can go live ‘on stage’ at the same time, therefore only open your camera and audio if you have a question. Alternatively, you can type your questions in the live chat box or listen to the conversation being held. This is a great opportunity for you to get your questions and queries answered! Note: Don’t worry about muting your mic or having your camera off upon logging in the fair. These will be done automatically.
We recommend that you wear whatever you feel comfortable in. However, please bear in mind that there are many opportunities for you to video chat with speakers. Make a good impression!
Sessions In ‘Sessions’ attendees have the opportunity to attend workshops held by a range of organisations and professionals. The workshops will cover a variety of topics and each last 30 minutes. Note that the sessions will not be recorded. Unlike ‘expo booths’, attendees cannot share their Audio and Video while in a workshop. However, attendees can type in questions in the live chat box just like in ’expo booths’. Attending workshops is a great opportunity for you to learn more about a specific topic or a specific organisation and get your questions and queries answered. Make sure you utilize these opportunities!
