mech[animal] sitelessness

Spring 2019

New York, NY

Mech[Animal] Sitelessness narrates the story of an animated city block that plugs into multiple/different urban ducts to activate an urban program, event or mechanical infrastructure. Animated stories (short movies) are used as a medium to depict two main concepts:

I. A proposal for a moving architecture, as a part of an urban puzzle II. A consistent atmosphere/ambiance/theme to support the story

The Purifier desalinates seawater for human consuption in a post-global warming New York City. A satire that delves into the notion of a "playful" take on the"serious" effects of global warming. to "mock" the vast population that is remitting the concern for climate change.

suffolk county MUSEUM OF ART

Prof. Robert/Nick Safley Spring 2020

Boston, MA

Located in the hearth of the Boston Harbor, the SCMA champions an innnovative approach to the world of art. It rigorously explores the relationship between museum and warehouse. It embraces the infrastructure and unseen moments in a building. Explicitness becomes a common theme as occupants travel throughout the museum and see exposed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems. .The 'thin bar' mediates the entry from the park allowing for a backdrop of East Boston Piers Park, providing sun exposure and rich views. The 'box' serves as the gallery, diffuser, or merely as the 'warehouse' as it attempts to change the conservative view of what a museum truly is.

Water has the ability to destroy and create.

adaptive reuse

Cuyahoga Falls, OH

The City of Cuyahoga Falls has been a staple in the Northeast Ohio area. An adaptive reuse design proposition arose to redevelop a parking deck for residential, shopping, recreational, and leisure purposes. Its dynamic counterparts and architectural elements will provide something fun, fresh, and inviting in the city for years to come.

DETROIT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Prof. Ian Donaldson

Fall 2021

Detroit, MI

The City of Detroit is currently facing many problems that are associated with an increase in privitization. The Detroit Public LIbrary is reimagined to address layer/stack concerns, contexts, histories, and space. The building examines and dissects the City of Detroit through the exploration of the past, present, and future. The first floor (present) addresses the current needs for the community. The second floor (past) confronts the former leadership and histories of the city. Finally, the third floor (future) allows occupants to speculate on the future of Detroit, while providing access to technologies to promote equity.

Prof. Bill Lucak

Spring 2019

CAED Digital Fabrication Lab

A programmed geometry which is created by flip-milling, a procedure aimed at combining both geometry and CNC tool path coordination. In return, this produces a two sided surface with differing undulations. Digitally fabricated with RhinoCAM and engulfed by a hands on experience with programming and running a Laguana CNC.

PETERBORO CORRIDOR

Prof. Lisa Sauve & John Wagner Fall

2022

Detroit, MI

The social agenda for the project is to "promote, uplift, and stengthen social agency in Midtown. Creating affordable housing and helm business development for the community to encourage underrepresented agency, entrepreneurship, and ownership. It's goal is to create a safe and healthy neighborhood with access to communal, domestic, and economic agency. Communal spaces which support business leadership, ownership, and financial intelligence are incorporated throughout the project. Affording the agency of residents in Midtown is key, and the project accomplishes this through a rigorous exploration of optimizing programming and site for district-wide nodes of attraction.

clarksdale vocational grounds

Prof. Cory Henry Spring 2022

Clarksdale, MS

One of the driving forces on 401 Pecan Street is to helm economic development and intellectual prosperity for the community of Clarksdale, MS. Economic development and education for the underserved community is critical. Economic and educational opportunity has a history of not being granted to these populations in the United States of America. Economic and educational opportunities will be presented through a 'Center of Entrepreneurship & Innovation' where business practices can be learned. There is also a facility that blends agriculture and technology to celebrate a disruptive breakthrough known as "AgriTech". A food hall is established where communities can enjoy meals over conversation, embracing the idea of community and hospitality.

from akron with love

Spring 2023

Akron, OH

Workers were exposed to carbon black, benzene, toluene, asbestos, and soapstone while also being laid off as Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plants began to close. From Akron with Love takes place in the summer of 1982 and tells a story of how workers and their families were affected by environmental and social enormities. Their daily life is explored and investigated through forensics, didacticism, and improvisation to educate Akronites on the history of Goodyear and its impact on workers in Goodyear Heights and the greater Akron area.
