Due to the extreme cost of asbestos abatement and renovation Brazos House was slated for demolition. In it’s honor, campus administration saught to create a new space that would cultivate community and togetherness. I worked with an Alumnus donor to develop the opverall scheme but my first self-appointed responsibility was to preserve as much of the original masonry details which include the three main entrances with their patterned brick, and beautifully carved limestone blocks and pilasters as I could. The pilasters are marked with student graffiti spanning the decades of this buildings use. Located at the epicenter of campus, the stage has hosted weekly concerts, movies, political rallies, department meetings, classes, and private events.

Social Work and Smart Hospital Building Research Building • • • •

Budget: $76 million SF: 150,000 Architect: Smith Group Opened: 2023

A medical training and research lab facility that includes 20 classrooms, 350 offices and cubicles, indoor and outdoor engagement spaces, mock patient rooms and virtual reality labs with medical robots.

This building is the new home of the School of Social Work and the College of Nursing and Health Innovations Renderings by project architect. My responsibilities for these projects included: • •

Oversaw and had final approval of contractors selections to ensure adherence to campus standards and guidelines for furniture, flooring, and classroom technology.

Science, Engineering, Innovation and Research Building Research Building • • • •

Budget: $125 million SF: 220,000 Architect: Page Opened: 2018 This building is comprised of a fourstory research laboratory wing and a two-story instructional classroom wing.

Research side features a “Science-ondisplay” concept allowing everyone passing through the building to see what is happening. My responsibilities for these projects included:

University Hall Academic Building • • •

Budget: $1.1 million SF: 10,000 Completed: 2019

This project renovated two floors which included nine standard classrooms, five fixed seating classrooms, and the first floor lobby student engagement space with seating for 70 people. I also developed a design for the grand stairway but it was never funded. My responsibilities for these projects included: • • • • •

Pickard Hall Academic Building • • •

Budget: $1.7 million SF: 24,000 Work completed in phases between 2019 and 2023

Complete renovation of the three academic floors of the building which include 12 standard classrooms, and 12 fixed seating classrooms. The first and second floor lobby was used to create a student engagement space with seating for 150 people. We also renovated six public restrooms and created five new uni-sex, sinlge occupant, and accessible restrooms. My responsibilities for these projects included: • • • • •

Lockheed Martin Career Development Center • • •

Budget: $6 million 8,000sf Completed: Fall 2016

This project enclosed the old Bowling & Billiards area and added on to the University Center. This space is used by students to network with job opportunities in North Texas and includes two large office suites, multiple conference rooms, and a large student organizations hub. My responsibilities for these projects included: •

UTA Radio Station • • •

Budget: $300,000 3,000sf Opened: 2021

In order to give the voice of the university a face lift this renovation updated the original UTA Radio Station facilities including the DJ booth, a learning lab, and multiple other supporting rooms none of which had been touched since they were built in the early 80’s. Our goal was to elevate the space with new finishes, more branding, and 21st century technology to allow for 24/7 broadcasting and live streaming. My responsibilities for these projects included: • • • • •

Life Science Academic Building • • •

Renovation that included four lecture halls, and a large student engagement area with seating and available power for 45 people.

Preston Hall Academic Building • • •

Budget: $125,000 SF: 600 Opened: Fall 2018

For this project we tore out two unused offices and renovated the space to create an inviting social and work space for students. We added various height and communal touch down spots and added convenience poweras well as updating the ceiling and lighting. My responsibilities for this projects included: • • • • •

Sephora Design Competition Sephora design competition entry.

The prompt was to re-design their display case, and make up application area. I drew inspriation from Sephora’s stripes and leaned in to the glam aspect of their glossy, pop, chic aesthetic.

Art Gallery Project The prompt for this art gallery called for us to draw inspiration from photographs from artists on a list, I selected ‘fire escape, new york’ (1949) by Andre Kertesz as seen below.

I used the sharp angles to generate the overall layout and drew inspriation from the contrasting light and shadow for the glass wall, sky light, and clerestory placement.

New Social Work Building This model shows what a 150,000sf building could look like on this major intersection.

Campus administration was interested in constructing a showcase buiding on an empty lot at the entrance to campus, they had a list of requirements which included a rotunda at the vertex of two wings, and use of materials already present on campus (brick, glass, limestone).

In this exercise I also explored the concept of a bris-soleil that had linticular images where when headed northbound at the red light you would see a herd of horses grazing, however when you are headed southbound existing the intersection you would be running with the horses.

New Performance Hall This massing model was used to show different ways a new building could interact with this major intersection and how the building could fit on the land. I worked with campus administration who had a list of needs for me to incorporate in to my concepts that included a rotunda at the vertices of two wings, a total of 75,000sf on up to 3 floors, and green space.
