Great design isn’t just something you see—it’s something you feel. From wild eco-resorts to refined city escapes, each project in this issue reveals a story of creativity without compromise.
IMMERSIVE LUXURY, INSPIRED ENCOUNTERS
Every so often, design rises beyond expectation and becomes something unforgettable—an experience, a memory, a feeling. In this issue, we explore spaces that awaken the senses and remind us of the sheer wonder of thoughtful, purposeful design.
It’s a true pleasure to feature BENSLEY in this issue—a studio whose influence in luxury hospitality and design spans the globe. With over 200 visionary projects in 30+ countries, BENSLEY continues to set new standards through its bold, imaginative approach to design.
Among the highlights, we journey into the heart of Cambodia’s South Cardamom Rainforest at Shinta Mani Wild—an extraordinary 865-acre luxury tented eco-resort. Bold, immersive, and deeply respectful of nature, the experience begins with a 400-metre zip line into the wilderness, setting the tone for an unforgettable escape.
Equally inspiring is the Shinta Mani Mustang in Nepal’s Lower Mustang region. Here, Bill Bensley’s interior vision harmonises local aesthetics with modern luxury, framed by the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Himalayas. In Bangkok, The Siam stands apart—steeped in Thai history and culture while radiating a serene sophistication rarely found in the city’s bustling luxury scene.
This issue also celebrates innovative expressions in lighting and furniture. Preciosa Lighting’s Crystal Links captures movement, space, and architectural rhythm in a dazzling symphony of glass and light. Meanwhile, the 2025 expansion of Antonio Citterio’s Erica Collection introduces a fresh chapter in timeless comfort, with elegant new silhouettes including curved sofas, modular seating, and high-back daybeds.

HOTEL DE LA COUPOLE
by BENSLEY

TUFT LOVE
Patricia Urquiola revisits her iconic 2005 design with Tufty-Time 20, reimagining its modular spirit for contemporary living. Enhanced volumes, refined padding, and a new curved module offer fluid, convivial layouts ideal for both private and contract spaces. Prioritising circularity, the fully disassemblable structure allows every component a second life, reaffirming a commitment to sustainable design without sacrificing the enveloping comfort and compositional freedom that define the original masterpiece.

INTIMATE INDULGENCE STRONG IMPRESSIONS
Orbis by Emmanuel Gallina crafts a refined sanctuary of intimacy within the home. Its flowing silhouette, soft cushioning, and elegantly curved backrest radiate understated luxury. Anchored by a sleek, swivelling metal base reminiscent of classic reading chairs, the design seamlessly merges tradition with contemporary allure. Orbis embodies a timeless balance between aesthetic grace and everyday comfort, offering an inviting retreat for moments of reflection and repose.
With its bold three-legged form, Selettiva Cantù by Giulio Cappellini captures sculptural minimalism while channelling a Brutalist aesthetic. The contrast between its solid frame and the supple upholstery brings a sophisticated contrast to refined interiors. With a wealth of customisation options—from natural woods to vivid lacquers and luxurious fabrics—it stands as a versatile icon, perfect for elevating contemporary residential and high-end contract spaces alike with poise and personality.

SIMPLE PLEASURES
Understated elegance, pure inspiration – Cassina’s reinterpretation of Vico Magistretti’s Fiandra is defined by the absence of a moulded structure: the padded parts, designed with varying density levels, are simply placed on what is now a metal frame, and firmly wrapped in a recycled polyester fibre interior lining, ensuring maximum stability of the piece. Thoughtful engineering and discreet sustainable choices ensure the design remains as timeless in ethos as it is in form.

LOUNGE IN STYLE
Loungescape redefines domestic environments with its sculptural, landform-inspired presence. A seamless assembly of soft, organically shaped cushions offers both visual and tactile comfort, designed with meticulous attention to balance and inclination. Resting lightly on a raked base, the structure feels effortlessly elegant despite its monolithic form. Highly modular and endlessly customisable in luxurious textiles and leathers, Loungescape invites personalised compositions for modern living with serene sophistication.
EMBRACING THE PAST
Kettal pays homage to Dino Gavina’s vision with the revival of the Loden collection, originally conceived by Vico Magistretti in 1961. Defined by its lacquered wood frame, cylindrical legs, and gently curved armrests echoing the famed Carimate chairs, Loden captures an era of timeless design. Upholstered seats and backrests lend softness to the structured silhouette, reviving mid-century elegance with a contemporary sensibility that honours its iconic heritage.

SCULPTURAL BEAUTY
Upholstered in fabric, Patricia Urquiola’s Ruuna collection invites dynamic compositions—whether standing alone or arranged together. This collection embodies a harmony of expressive design and versatile functionality. With its rounded poufs and elegantly proportioned bench, each piece is defined by a fluid, sculptural form supported by a minimalist leg structure. Ideal for any space, from entryways to living rooms, it transforms interiors with an inherent sense of comfort and visual impact.
PEACE & CALM
Inspired by the serene beauty of a seashell found along an untouched shoreline, Jean-Marie Massaud’s Seashell Grand collection evokes feelings of security and tranquillity. This luxurious series embraces the protective qualities of a seashell while offering unparalleled comfort. Crafted from eco-conscious materials, the collection radiates barefoot luxury and timeless elegance, seamlessly integrating into both relaxed outdoor settings and refined indoor environments, embodying a sense of peaceful refuge.

PLUS FACTOR
Evolving from its iconic predecessor, Werner Aisslinger’s Juli Soft Plus armchair exudes a softer, more sophisticated comfort for modern lifestyles. Its sculptural curves, now enhanced with even more inviting upholstery, are dressed in luxurious fabrics from the Cappellini collection. Available with three base options—column, wooden legs, or metal spokes—Juli Soft Plus offers a tailored aesthetic that fits perfectly in both modern living rooms and stylish home offices.

CRAFTED FOR ELEGANCE
With a design that appears to hover effortlessly above the floor, Rolf Benz TAYA reinterprets minimalist elegance. Designer Henrik Pedersen is delighted by the “unique way in which the sharp and clearly defined outsides, blend with the supersoft insides, creating a mix of different textiles and materials that both visually contrast with and complement each other.” The combination of up to three distinct materials offers the flexibility to personalise the sofa’s appearance.
CONICAL WONDER
Kagu, designed by Jehs + Laub, stands as a sculptural marvel, where ingenious angles and fluid lines create a chair that is both delicate and enduring. The conical legs rise from a solid wood frame, supporting a suspended, wave-sprung seat that invites comfort. Its flexible backrest and freely suspended armrests offer complete freedom of movement, making Kagu a stunning blend of form and function for any contemporary space.
LUSH EFFECT
Compact yet bold, the ultra-cosy Ozzy armchair showcases a uniquely designed form and meticulous craftsmanship. Its cowhide-clad outer backrest provides an elegant contrast to the soft leather or fabric seat, while the metal swivel base allows for dynamic movement. Designed with stylish in mind, its soft goose-down cushions deliver both luxurious relaxation and striking visual appeal, making Ozzy a versatile, nomadic piece that fits seamlessly into any room.

NUO AGE DESIGN
Handcrafted by DEDON’s master weavers, the SEASHELL NUO reflects the balance of tradition and modernity, with natural hues reminiscent of oceanic treasures, bringing a sense of peace into any space. This collection by Jean-Marie Massaud revisits the iconic SEASHELL series, designed to cradle the body with soothing comfort. Inspired by the organic form of a seashell, each piece gently envelops its occupant, offering a sense of security and calm.

LEAP OF LUXURY
A dynamic interpretation of seating pieces, the Kwado armchair by Sebastian Herkner creates a striking visual impact with its clever interplay of solids and voids. The design, inspired by the Hausa word for “frog,” presents a perfectly interlocking shell and base, offering both visual drama and functionality. Available in fixed, swivel, and swivelwith-return versions, Kwado pairs seamlessly with its complementary pouf, making it a versatile and playful addition to any modern interior.
FOLLOW THE FLOW
With the Owen collection, Jean-Marie Massaud draws on Mid-Century modernism to create a design that is both architectural and cocooning. The sofa and armchair feature fluid, organic curves that flow into a sculptural Möbius strip-inspired backrest, blending form and function in perfect harmony. Supported by a wooden base, these pieces combine plush couture-inspired upholstery with a timeless aesthetic, offering a serene and sophisticated addition to any living space.

CLASSIC REPERTOIRE
Inspired by 1950s and 1960s outdoor seating, the Tilos collection by Antonio Citterio merges classic design with contemporary materials. The sculptural shell, made of metal and woven acrylic rope, cradles plush cushions, offering both comfort and durability. With interchangeable wood or metal base frames, Tilos adapts effortlessly to different settings, ensuring a versatile, refined solution for outdoor living and dining spaces, ideal for both casual and luxurious environments.
ART OF GEOMETRY
The TL59 table by Afra and Tobia Scarpa merges architectural precision with textural richness, where the weight of aluminium meets the purity of glass in a sculptural design. Featuring a geometric form, the table’s cast aluminium base creates a striking interplay of positive and negative spaces. Its central triangular structure, formed by vertical elements connecting the two discs, elevates the table from functional piece to architectural art, making it an enduring design statement.
LIGHT AND EASY
The new Lamorisse outdoor lounge seating, offering relaxed sophistication for waterfront or poolside retreats. The lightweight aluminium frame supports large, enveloping cushions that ensure comfort and durability. With removable, water-repellent covers and flexible elastic belts, this lounge armchair is designed for easy maintenance and exceptional weather resistance. Its disassemblable components also reflect the brand’s sustainability, offering longlasting luxury with minimal environmental impact.

SIREN SONG
Evoking the mythical allure of the siren, the Lorelei armchair by Giorgetti embodies seductive design and exceptional comfort. Its soft, fluid lines flow like waves, while the bold frame, composed of two sculptural shells, provides both visual intrigue and support. The armchair can be entirely upholstered in leather, with a leather perimeter insert that emphasises its sinuous lines, or with a flexible wooden insert, creating a refined interplay of material contrasts.

BENSLEY –ARCHITECTURE, INTERIORS, LANDSCAPE
VISIONARY ARCHITECT AND DESIGNER BILL BENSLEY CREATES WHIMSICAL, SUSTAINABLE RESORTS AND LANDSCAPES, BLENDING STORYTELLING WITH BOLD AESTHETICS TO REDEFINE LUXURY HOSPITALITY ACROSS ASIA AND BEYOND.
BENSLEY is a world-renowned design studio specializing in luxury hospitality, landscape, interiors, and architectural design. Founded by Bill Bensley in 1989, the studio operates from Bangkok and Bali, creating some of the most imaginative and environmentally conscious hotels, resorts, and private residences worldwide. Known for its theatrical, narrative-driven approach, BENSLEY blends bold aesthetics, deep cultural research, and sustainability to craft unforgettable spaces that captivate and inspire.
At the heart of BENSLEY’s philosophy is storytelling—every design element serves a purpose. Unlike conventional luxury hospitality design, which often prioritizes aesthetics alone, BENSLEY engages guests on a deeper level. Each space tells a story, weaving together history, culture, and nature to create environments that feel alive. Maximalist yet harmonious, BENSLEY’s projects feature vibrant palettes, unexpected juxtapositions, and locally inspired motifs, ensuring no two are alike. More than visual spectacle, these designs are deeply rooted in culture and a respect for nature.
One of BENSLEY’s defining principles is “luxury through conservation.” Bill is an outspoken advocate for sustainable tourism, promoting designs that not only minimize environmental impact but actively support conservation. This is evident in projects such as Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia, where hospitality seamlessly integrates with wildlife protection and
community engagement. Instead of clearing land for development, the resort was built within its natural surroundings, preserving the pristine rainforest. Revenue supports anti-poaching efforts and local conservation initiatives, setting a new benchmark for responsible tourism.
Beyond aesthetics, BENSLEY prioritizes functionality and immersive guest experiences. Each project is designed with meticulous detail, to surprise and delight, from hidden doors to elaborate, themed interiors that transport guests into another world. Comfort and practicality are seamlessly integrated, ensuring that a stay in a BENSLEY-designed hotel is as memorable as it is luxurious. Guests encounter spaces that continually reveal new details—secret gardens, concealed lounges, or art installations hidden in plain sight—creating a sense of discovery.
BENSLEY has long been a champion of sustainable design, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the luxury hospitality industry. In 2020, Bill Bensley published Sensible Sustainable Solutions, an opensource white paper offering practical guidance for hotel developers on building and operating more responsibly. This document serves as a call to action for the hospitality industry, urging developers to move beyond marketing-driven sustainability toward real, measurable impact. Bensley has also publicly spoken against “greenwashing,” advocating for genuine environmental responsibility.
Many recent BENSLEY projects incorporate
regenerative design principles, ensuring development actively benefits the environment rather than merely minimizing harm. This includes using locally sourced materials, reducing waste, and designing hotels that generate their own clean energy. The goal is to leave a positive, lasting impact on ecosystems and communities. BENSLEY continues to challenge the status quo in luxury design.
What sets BENSLEY apart is its ability to create immersive worlds within each project. From jungle camps inspired by Victorian explorers to colonial-era universities transformed into beachfront resorts, each space is a masterclass in storytelling. Guests are not just staying at a hotel—they are stepping into a living narrative, filled with surprises and intricate details that make every corner worth exploring and transport guests into an entirely new reality.
With over 200 projects in more than 30 countries, BENSLEY continues to redefine luxury hospitality design. The studio proves that sustainability and opulence can coexist, crafting spaces that are visually stunning while leaving a lasting positive impact. Through its core values of storytelling, sustainability, and innovation, BENSLEY has cemented its reputation as one of the most visionary design firms in the industry and remains committed to pushing the boundaries of luxury hospitality, demonstrating that great design is not just about aesthetics—but creating experiences that resonate, inspire, and endure.

LUXURY JUNGLE ESCAPE WITH PURPOSE
AN EXTRAORDINARY ALL-INCLUSIVE LUXURY TENTED ECO-RESORT THAT SEAMLESSLY FUSES HIGH-END DESIGN WITH DEEP RESPECT FOR NATURE. THE ADVENTURE BEGINS UPON ARRIVAL WITH A THRILLING 400-METER ZIP LINE RIDE INTO THE HEART OF THE WILDERNESS.

SHINTA MANI WILD

Nestled deep within Cambodia’s South Cardamom Rainforest, Shinta Mani Wild stands as one of Bensley’s most ambitious and visionary projects. This extraordinary 865-acre property, home to 875,000 trees, a pristine wild river and breathtaking waterfalls, was acquired with a singular purpose: to prevent deforestation caused by mining and logging. By securing this vital stretch of land, Bensley ensured the protection of one of Southeast Asia’s last remaining rainforest corridors. His solution was to design a high-yield, low-impact luxury camp dedicated to conservation, offering an experience where opulence and environmental responsibility coexist in perfect harmony.
Shinta Mani Wild is a masterclass in immersive storytelling. Bensley envisioned the property as an adventure through time, transporting guests to a glamorous 1960s-era safari expedition. This concept is woven into every facet of the experience, from its bold design choices to the adrenaline-inducing arrival. The dramatic optional zip line arrival immediately sets the tone for an experience that is equal parts adventure, luxury, and environmental stewardship.

TOP: Each tent features a private outdoor bathtub, offering complete seclusion and uninterrupted views of the lush, wild jungle beyond.
Shinta Mani Wild’s location, situated between three national parks, offers a rare level of seclusion and immersion in nature. The camp is designed to blend seamlessly into its lush surroundings. Elevated walkways replace traditional roads to minimize ecological disruption, ensuring that guests move through the landscape without disturbing the delicate ecosystem.
The 15 luxury tents, perched on stilts along the rushing river, are positioned with privacy and breathtaking views in mind. Each tent is a tribute to the spirit of exploration, modelled after vintage expedition camps yet infused with modern comforts. Durable materials like steel and heavy canvas ensure longevity while reinforcing the aesthetic of a bygone era of adventure. Expansive decks and open-air elements further enhance the connection to the wilderness, allowing guests to feel the pulse of the rainforest at all times.
Bensley’s signature maximalist approach is evident throughout the camp’s interiors. The design is a rich tapestry of bold patterns, striking textures, and intricate Cambodian craftsmanship. Locally sourced
materials and traditional techniques play a key role, celebrating the country’s artistic heritage. Every tent is adorned with hand-carved furnishings, vibrant textiles, and a curated selection of antiques. Vintage maps, leather-bound travel trunks, and other relics of exploration contribute to the narrative, making each space feel like the private retreat of an intrepid 20thcentury adventurer.
Despite the nostalgic aesthetic, no comfort has been sacrificed. Plush king-size beds, outdoor deep soaking tubs, and thoughtfully placed seating areas ensure that relaxation is never compromised.
Beyond the accommodations, the camp’s communal areas continue the story of adventure and indulgence. The Khmer Tonics Spa embraces a minimalist philosophy, allowing nature itself to take center stage.
Landscape design is another crucial element in Shinta Mani Wild’s success, both aesthetically and ecologically. Unlike traditional resorts that impose manicured gardens onto the land, Bensley chose to work with nature rather than against it. Native plants dominate the landscape, reinforcing the seamless transition between the camp and the jungle beyond. Winding pathways follow the land’s natural contours, ensuring that the forest remains largely undisturbed. Construction was carried out with painstaking attention to detail, minimizing disruption to the ecosystem and ensuring that the biodiversity of the area remains intact.

BENSLEY’S SIGNATURE MAXIMALIST APPROACH IS EVIDENT THROUGHOUT THE CAMP’S INTERIORS. THE DESIGN IS A RICH TAPESTRY OF BOLD PATTERNS, STRIKING TEXTURES, AND INTRICATE CAMBODIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP. LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS AND TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES PLAY A KEY ROLE, CELEBRATING THE COUNTRY’S ARTISTIC HERITAGE. EVERY TENT IS ADORNED WITH HAND-CARVED FURNISHINGS, VIBRANT TEXTILES, AND A CURATED SELECTION OF ANTIQUES.
THIS PHOTO: The Landing Zone Bar exudes charm and eclectic decor. The bar is seamlessly integrated into the rock on the right.

PHOTO: Each tent features an outdoor lounge and dining area with hand-painted sofas—this one in the First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s tent.

What sets Shinta Mani Wild apart is its ability to offer luxury without compromising on sustainability. Guests are not only treated to world-class accommodations but also invited to engage with the property’s conservation efforts. The camp works closely with Wildlife Alliance, an NGO dedicated to protecting Cambodia’s endangered species and combating illegal poaching and logging. Guests can join rangers on anti-poaching patrols, participate in wildlife monitoring, or simply learn about the ongoing efforts to preserve this remarkable region.
Ultimately, Shinta Mani Wild exemplifies how thoughtful, intentional design can create a truly transformative experience. Bensley has masterfully crafted a destination that is equal parts thrilling, indulgent, and environmentally responsible. Every element of the camp tells a story of adventure, heritage, and an unwavering commitment to conservation. Shinta Mani Wild is more than just a place to stay; it is a journey, an exploration, and a testament to the power of design in protecting our planet’s most precious landscapes.

SHINTA MANI MUSTANG SHOWCASES LOCALLY-INSPIRED ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIORS, FEATURING HANDCRAFTED FURNITURE, VIBRANT TEXTILES, TRADITIONAL MOTIFS, AND NATURAL MATERIALS. ITS DESIGN SEAMLESSLY BLENDS CULTURAL AUTHENTICITY WITH CONTEMPORARY LUXURY, EMPHASIZING HARMONY WITH THE STUNNING HIMALAYAN LANDSCAPE.

THIS PHOTO: Perched on the rugged mountainside, Shinta Mani Mustang is a masterpiece by visionary architect Prabal Thapa, seamlessly blending into its Himalayan surroundings.

The interior design at Shinta Mani Mustang, located in Nepal’s Lower Mustang region, is a testament to the visionary design of Bill Bensley. This luxurious 29-suite retreat harmoniously blends traditional local aesthetics with modern comfort, set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Himalayas. The original structure made of local stone seems to grow out of the landscape and was designed by Nepalese Architect Prabal Shumsher Thapa. Prior to opening as Shinta Mani Hotel in August 2023, BENSLEY managed the refurbishment of interiors and the landscape.
Bensley’s approach to the interior design of Shinta Mani Mustang is deeply rooted in the local culture. Each suite features stone walls and floor-toceiling windows that frame panoramic views of the Nilgiri Himal peaks. The interiors are adorned with Nepalese artisan-made pillows and furniture lined with locally sourced yak fur, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Sanskrit poems etched into the bedroom walls add a poetic touch, while playful elements including exquisite hand-woven bed runners decorated with black and white goats and handmade rugs featuring tiger motifs infuse character into the space. Warm coloured fabrics and materials were used throughout, to reflect the rich tones of the surrounding landscape.

BENSLEY’S DESIGN PHILOSOPHY FOR SHINTA MANI MUSTANG EMPHASIZES A DEEP RESPECT FOR THE LOCAL CULTURE. THE RESORT’S AESTHETIC IS INSPIRED BY TRADITIONAL LOCAL ARCHITECTURE, FEATURING ELEMENTS LIKE HANDCARVED WOODEN DOORS ADORNED WITH TIBETAN KNOT SYMBOLS REPRESENTING THE BUDDHA’S INFINITE WISDOM AND COMPASSION.

THE COMMUNAL AREAS ARE EQUALLY THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED. THE LIVING ROOM HAS A BRICK FEATURE WALL, LARGE WHITE SOFAS, AND A CAREFULLY STACKED PILE OF FIREWOOD THAT RUNS THE LENGTH OF THE ROOM, CREATING A COZY AND RUSTIC AMBIANCE. THE AARA BAR, WITH ITS BRIGHT ORANGE CHAIRS AND FLOOR-TO-CEILING WINDOWS, OFFERS STUNNING VIEWS OF THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAIN RANGE, MAKING IT AN IDEAL SPOT FOR RELAXATION.

PHOTO: A warm embrace of rustic charm in The Living Room with brick walls, plush white sofas, and a neatly stacked firewood set the perfect scene for cozy moments.

The landscape design of Shinta Mani Mustang is a seamless extension of its natural surroundings. Perched on a slope above the town of Jomsom, the property is backed by an orchard of 2,000 apple and apricot trees, adding a lush contrast to the rugged mountain terrain. The use of local timber and stone in the construction ensures that the resort blends harmoniously with the environment.
A notable aspect of the design is the incorporation of upcycled materials. Bensley repurposed wooden chairs and tables from the former hotel and sourced local furnishings, including hand-carved wooden minibars and copper boxes for plastic-free bathroom amenities. This sustainable approach not only reduces waste but also showcases and supports local craftsmanship.
Outdoor terraces with huge fire pits allow guests to admire the star-studded night sky in warmth, even as temperatures dip. The design encourages guests to engage with the landscape through various activities such as trekking, horse riding, archery, mountain biking, hiking, and yoga.
Bensley’s design philosophy for Shinta Mani Mustang emphasizes a deep respect for the local culture. The resort’s aesthetic is inspired by traditional local architecture, featuring elements like hand-carved wooden doors adorned with Tibetan knot symbols representing the Buddha’s infinite wisdom and compassion. The artwork of the late artist Robert Powell, known for his detailed studies of the region’s vernacular architecture, is displayed throughout the property, further connecting guests to the local heritage.

BOTTOM: The Living Room seamlessly mirrors the rich, earthy tones of the landscape, creating a warm and inviting ambience.

The integration of local materials and craftsmanship not only supports the community but also ensures that the design remains authentic to the region. By collaborating with local artisans and incorporating traditional design elements, Bensley has created a space that honors the cultural legacy of Mustang while providing guests with a luxurious and comfortable retreat.
Shinta Mani Mustang stands as a remarkable example of how thoughtful design can create a luxurious experience that is both environmentally sustainable and culturally respectful. Bill Bensley’s meticulous attention to detail in both interior and landscape design has resulted in a retreat that offers guests an immersive connection to the natural beauty and rich heritage of Nepal’s Mustang region.

its artistic parts, The Siam mixes Art Deco style with traditional Thai heritage; classic in all the right ways.

The Siam Bangkok is a masterful blend of luxury, heritage, and contemporary design. Situated along the Chao Phraya River, this boutique hotel combines elements of traditional Thai aesthetics with a modern, minimalist approach, offering guests a unique and immersive experience.
The Hotel’s overall design draws inspiration from the grandeur of the Thai royal palaces and the Art Deco movement of the early 20th century. Bensley’s signature style is evident in the careful curation of architectural elements, blending classical Thai motifs with geometric Art Deco details. The hotel’s layout consists of 38 suites and pool villas, each designed with a sense of space and exclusivity.
The property is arranged in a way that maximizes privacy while maintaining a strong connection to its riverside location. The symmetrical layout of courtyards, colonnades, and open spaces creates a harmonious balance between structure and nature. The use of teakwood, marble, and polished concrete creates a tactile experience that evokes both warmth and modernity. Accommodations are furnished with carefully selected antiques, artwork, and vintage collectibles that reflect Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
One of the most distinctive elements of the hotel’s design is the incorporation of historical artifacts and memorabilia, many of which were sourced by the hotel’s owners, the Sukosol family. These include old photographs, classic travel trunks, and unique pieces of Thai craftsmanship, depicting Bangkok’s past.
The heart The Siam is its central atrium, an airy and light-filled space that serves as a gathering point for guests. The atrium is framed by black-and-white columns and lush tropical greenery, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate.

LUXURY AND DESIGN ON TRACK
IN THIS PROJECT, BENSLEY MASTERFULLY INTERTWINES A RAILWAY-INSPIRED AESTHETIC WITH ECO-CONSCIOUS PRINCIPLES, CREATING A SPACE THAT IS BOTH LUXURIOUS AND ENVIRONMENTALLY MINDFUL, USING UPCYCLED TRAIN CARRIAGES AND WEAVING IT ALL TOGETHER WITH MASTERFUL STORYTELLING.

The InterContinental Khao Yai Resort, situated near Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park, is a shining example of innovative architectural design deeply rooted in historical significance and sustainability.
At the heart of the resort’s design is its railway theme, which pays homage to Thailand’s history as a pivotal rail gateway during the reign of King Rama V. This historical context is brought to life through the creative reuse of decommissioned train carriages, transformed into luxurious accommodations and public spaces. Each carriage has been meticulously refurbished, blending vintage charm with modern amenities, allowing guests to experience the nostalgia of early 20th-century train travel while enjoying contemporary comforts.
The architectural narrative extends beyond the train carriages. The resort’s reception area resembles a traditional ticket office, setting the tone for an immersive journey back in time. Pathways and buildings throughout the property mimic railway tracks and stations, seamlessly connecting the resort’s elements while reinforcing the railway theme.

A standout feature of the resort is its commitment to sustainability, a hallmark of Bensley’s design philosophy. The creative upcycling of decommissioned train carriages not only adds historical and aesthetic value but also reduces construction waste. These carriages, once destined for obsolescence, have been given a second life as integral components of the resort’s architecture.
Bensley’s approach to sustainability extends to the resort’s construction and landscaping. Local materials were prioritized to minimize the environmental footprint, and the surrounding natural environment was carefully preserved. The design integrates existing trees, lakes, and vegetation into the layout, fostering a harmonious relationship between the built environment and the natural world.
The resort’s design celebrates its lush surroundings, incorporating the region’s natural beauty into every aspect of the guest experience. Nestled among expansive greenery and tranquil lakes, the resort’s layout encourages exploration and relaxation. Walking and cycling paths wind through the grounds, offering guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the serene landscape.

Architectural features such as large windows, open-air spaces, and expansive terraces blur the line between indoor and outdoor living, ensuring that guests remain connected to the environment. This seamless integration with nature not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also promotes a sense of calm and well-being.
Bensley’s attention to detail is evident in every corner of the resort. Interiors are adorned with vintage railway memorabilia, custom furnishings, and periodspecific design elements that evoke the grandeur of Thailand’s railway history. Art installations and
decorative motifs throughout the property further reinforce the narrative, creating a cohesive and immersive experience.
The resort also incorporates elements of local craftsmanship. Collaborations with regional artisans have resulted in bespoke artworks and furnishings that celebrate Thai culture while complementing the railway theme. These artistic touches add depth and authenticity to the design, enriching the overall guest experience.
Beyond upcycling, the resort employs various sustainable practices to reduce its environmental impact. Energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, and waste reduction initiatives are integrated into the operational framework. Bensley’s vision for the resort demonstrates how luxury hospitality can align with environmental responsibility, setting a benchmark for sustainable design in the industry.

THE ARCHITECTURAL LAYOUT IS THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE BOTH FUNCTIONALITY AND AESTHETICS. PUBLIC SPACES, SUCH AS THE TEA LOUNGE HOUSED IN A CONVERTED TRAIN CARRIAGE, OFFER UNIQUE AND INTIMATE SETTINGS FOR SOCIALIZING AND RELAXATION. MEANWHILE, WELLNESS FACILITIES LIKE THE “BACK ON TRACK” SPA INCORPORATE THE RAILWAY THEME INTO THEIR DESIGN, CREATING SERENE ENVIRONMENTS THAT ALIGN WITH THE RESORT’S OVERARCHING NARRATIVE.

Meanwhile, wellness facilities like the “Back on Track” spa incorporate the railway theme into their design, creating serene environments that align with the resort’s overarching narrative.

UNPARALLED LUXURY ON SAMUI
SITUATED ON A LUSH HILLSIDE OVERLOOKING THE GULF OF THAILAND, THE RESORT EXEMPLIFIES BENSLEY’S TALENT FOR CRAFTING SPACES THAT FEEL BOTH INDULGENT AND INTIMATELY CONNECTED TO THEIR SURROUNDINGS.
THIS PHOTO: Discover Thailand’s laid-back island life at Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. PHOTO: Experience the serenity of Thai island living in our luxury villas in Koh Samui, where space and privacy create unforgettable moments.

Every element, from the architecture to the landscaping, speaks to a deep understanding of Thai aesthetics and the island’s natural beauty.
One of the most striking aspects of the resort is its thoughtful integration with the landscape. Rather than imposing a rigid architectural framework onto the site, Bensley chose to embrace the contours of the land. The villas and pavilions are built along the hillside, following the natural slope rather than reshaping it, which minimizes environmental disruption. This approach not only preserves the lush greenery but also ensures that nearly every accommodation offers uninterrupted views of the turquoise waters.
Materials play a key role in this integration. Locally sourced wood, stone, and bamboo feature prominently, creating a tactile connection between the built environment and the natural one. Open-air pavilions, expansive terraces, and infinity pools blend seamlessly with their surroundings, allowing guests to experience the island’s tropical beauty without barriers. Bensley’s use of traditional Thai craftsmanship, from intricately carved wooden details to woven textiles, further strengthens this connection.
The resort’s design reflects a modern interpretation of traditional Thai architecture. Bensley avoids pastiche, instead opting for a refined and contemporary take on classic elements such as steeply pitched roofs, open-air living spaces, and dramatic overhangs that provide shade from the tropical sun. The layout of the resort ensures privacy while fostering a sense of discovery—pathways wind through dense foliage, leading guests to hidden courtyards, serene pools, and open lounges that offer breathtaking ocean views. Each villa feels like a private sanctuary. Expansive glass walls blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing the sea breeze and natural light to flood the interiors. The open-plan design promotes relaxation, with minimal partitions and carefully placed furniture that encourages lounging. Attention to proportion ensures that even the largest accommodations feel intimate, avoiding the impersonal vastness that can sometimes accompany luxury resorts.
Bensley is known for his masterful landscaping, and Four Seasons Koh Samui is no exception. His approach to outdoor spaces is both aesthetic and ecological, creating lush tropical gardens that feel

untouched rather than overly manicured. The resort is filled with indigenous plants—towering coconut palms, frangipani trees, and vibrant bougainvillea, providing shade and privacy.
The swimming pools, a signature feature of the resort, are designed to appear as natural extensions of the landscape. The main infinity pool mirrors the blues of the sea, while secluded private villa pools are nestled discreetly within the foliage. Pathways and staircases meander organically through the site, enhancing the experience of movement through nature rather than over it.
Interiors reflect Bensley’s flair for bold, sophisticated design. Rich textures, vibrant patterns, and handcrafted details create a sense of place while maintaining an air of refined luxury. Instead of overwhelming spaces with traditional Thai motifs, Bensley integrates them subtly through artwork, textiles, and bespoke furniture pieces.
Colour plays a vital role in the interiors. Earthy tones dominate, punctuated by bursts of turquoise, deep blues, and warm golds that echo the surrounding landscape. Silk cushions, handwoven rugs, and teakwood furnishings add layers of texture.

INSTEAD OF OVERWHELMING SPACES WITH TRADITIONAL THAI MOTIFS, BENSLEY INTEGRATES THEM SUBTLY THROUGH ARTWORK, TEXTILES, AND BESPOKE FURNITURE PIECES.

The resort also engages with local communities by incorporating Thai artisanship into its design elements, from hand-carved wooden screens to locally crafted ceramics, supporting traditional skills and economic sustainability.

A notable feature is the attention to sensory experiences. The interplay of textures—from smooth stone floors to the rough grain of wooden beams— heightens the feeling of tactility. Scents from tropical flowers and aromatic oils fill the air, and the sound of the ocean is never far away.
Beyond aesthetics, Bensley is deeply committed to sustainability, and this philosophy is evident throughout the resort’s design. Water conservation systems, energy-efficient lighting, and eco-friendly building materials ensure minimal impact on the environment.

INDUSTRIAL CHIC ELEGANCE IN PHUKET
LOCATED ON THE PRISTINE SHORES OF NAI YANG BEACH, THE SLATE IS A REIMAGINATION OF THE ISLAND’S TIN-MINING PAST, BLENDING INDUSTRIAL AESTHETICS WITH LUSH TROPICAL LANDSCAPES AND BENSLEY’S SIGNATURE STORYTELLING.

THIS PHOTO: The Slate Phuket’s signature Black Ginger restaurant celebrates traditional Thai architecture and can only be reached by hand-drawn raft.

The Slate is an ode to Phuket’s rich tin-mining heritage, which dates back centuries and was a key driver of the island’s early economic development. Rather than designing a conventional beach resort, Bensley drew inspiration from this historical industry, incorporating industrial materials, bold metallic accents, and a raw, rustic aesthetic throughout the property.
Bensley’s design is a masterclass in contrast— melding industrial chic with organic elements, polished surfaces with weathered textures, and contemporary lines with traditional Thai craftsmanship. The overall aesthetic is a fusion of steampunk sensibilities and tropical modernism.
The most striking aspect of the design is its use of industrial materials such as steel, concrete, rivets, and raw timber. The metal structures and exposed beams reference the machinery and tools of the tin-mining era, while oversized gears, metallic pipes, and repurposed mining equipment are woven into the décor.

THE COLOUR SCHEME IS RICH AND MOODY, WITH DEEP BLUES, BURNT ORANGES, AND DARK GREYS DOMINATING THE SPACES. THE USE OF HAND-PAINTED MURALS, BESPOKE ARTWORKS, AND SCULPTURES FURTHER ENHANCES THE RESORT’S UNIQUENESS. BENSLEY COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL ARTISTS TO CREATE PIECES THAT REFLECT PHUKET’S HISTORY, FOLKLORE, AND CRAFTSMANSHIP, ENSURING AN AUTHENTIC CULTURAL TOUCH IN EVERY CORNER.

Bensley balances these hard, mechanical features with Phuket’s lush tropical flora, incorporating expansive gardens, water features, and dense greenery throughout the property. Large trees and natural canopies soften the strong architectural lines, creating a seamless integration between built and natural environments.
The layout of the resort maximizes natural ventilation and open spaces. High ceilings, expansive glass walls, and wide verandas allow for unobstructed views of the gardens. The design embraces the tropical climate, encouraging indoor-outdoor living and providing guests with a constant connection to nature.
The rooms, suites, and villas reflect the same bold design language seen throughout the resort. Each accommodation features a mix of raw materials, custom-made furniture, and artful details that elevate the guest experience.
The accommodations are designed with a dramatic aesthetic. Oversized showers, outdoor bathtubs and handcrafted furniture pieces create a sense of indulgence. Many accommodations feature private pools, plunge baths, or large terraces that open into the surrounding gardens.
The pinnacle of the resort’s design is the Bensley Suite, which embodies his signature maximalist approach. This suite is adorned with intricate details, bold patterns, and statement décor that makes it feel more like an art installation than a typical hotel room.
The resort has multiple pools, each with a distinct character. Some feature dramatic black-tiled designs, reflecting the industrial aesthetic, while others are framed by verdant foliage and offer a more serene escape.

BOTTOM: Dramatic chandeliers and moody lighting set the tone for extraordinary dining at Black Ginger Restaurant at The Slate Phuket.

The dining spaces at The Slate are theatrical in their own right. Black Ginger, the resort’s signature Thai restaurant, is particularly striking—it is designed as a floating structure over a lagoon, accessed by a raft. Its dark wood interiors, lantern-lit ambiance, and traditional Thai architecture create an unforgettable dining experience.
The spa at The Slate is a softer contrast to the industrial aesthetic, incorporating organic shapes and natural materials. Inspired by a cocoon, the spa features treatment rooms nestled within pod-like structures, surrounded by tranquil gardens.
What sets The Slate apart from other luxury resorts is its commitment to narrative-driven design. Bensley’s approach is never about creating something merely beautiful—it is about storytelling through space, texture, and atmosphere. Every detail, from the metalwork to the choice of fabrics, contributes to the overarching theme of a reimagined tin-mining legacy.
Bensley is known for his playful and unexpected design choices, and The Slate is no exception. Quirky sculptures, surreal art pieces, and unconventional furnishings keep the resort from feeling too polished or predictable. This sense of playfulness adds to the immersive experience, inviting guests to explore and engage with the space in a way that goes beyond traditional hospitality design.
The Slate Phuket is a testament to Bensley’s ability to blend history, culture, and contemporary luxury in a way that feels both extravagant and deeply personal. By drawing from Phuket’s tin-mining past, he has created a resort that is not just a place to stay but a living, breathing story. Through The Slate, Bensley has once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the most innovative designers in the world of luxury hospitality.

JUNGLE LUXURY IN UBUD
A LUXURY TENTED CAMP IN THE LUSH JUNGLES OF BALI, CAPELLA UBUD BLENDS EUROPEAN NOSTALGIA WITH BALINESE ARTISTRY, ENSURING A DEEPLY IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE THAT IS BOTH WHIMSICAL AND LUXURIOUS.
THIS PHOTO: Each of the 23 extravagant tented villas is carefully placed among the dense foliage to ensure minimal environmental impact.

Known for his imaginative, detail-oriented, and environmentally conscious designs, Bensley created Capella Ubud as a tribute to the early European settlers who arrived in Indonesia in the 19th century. He envisioned a setting where guests could step into the shoes of intrepid explorers from the 1800s. Inspired by European naturalists, the camp embraces a romanticized version of a bygone era, emphasizing a harmonious relationship with nature. The design pays homage to the golden age of exploration, integrating Balinese culture with European influences to craft a unique and layered aesthetic.
Each of the 23 extravagant tented villas is carefully placed among the dense foliage to ensure privacy and minimal environmental impact. Unlike traditional resorts that require large-scale land clearing, Bensley designed Capella Ubud around existing trees and natural formations, preserving the landscape. This low-impact approach reinforces the sense of being truly enveloped in nature.
The tents, more akin to lavish pavilions than conventional camping structures, feature rich wooden flooring, hand-carved furniture, and antique collectibles. Muted canvas exteriors blend seamlessly with the jungle, while interiors burst with intricate detailing, bespoke fabrics, and curated artifacts.

THIS PHOTO: Capella Ubud blends European nostalgia with Balinese artistry, ensuring a deeply immersive experience that is both whimsical and luxurious.
A hallmark of Bensley’s work is his ability to merge contrasting influences. At Capella Ubud, Balinese architecture coexists with European touches. Ornate Javanese carvings, Dutch colonial-style furniture, and traditional Indonesian textiles create an eclectic yet cohesive aesthetic. Each tented villa is uniquely themed around different personas of 19th-century explorers, from naturalists to cartographers. This storytelling approach ensures no two accommodations are alike, offering guests a sense of adventure and discovery.
Interiors are richly decorated with vintage trunks, brass telescopes, hand-drawn maps, and period artifacts. Deep greens, burnt oranges, and gold tones complement the jungle’s natural hues, creating warmth and opulence. Heavy drapery, intricate wallpaper patterns, and exotic prints enhance the colonial-inspired aesthetic, making each space feel like a portal to another time.
Lighting plays a crucial role in the design. Instead of harsh modern lighting, the camp is illuminated with hurricane lamps, candles, and dim atmospheric bulbs, reinforcing the sense of stepping back in time. This subtle lighting also helps guests connect with their surroundings, allowing them to appreciate the jungle’s natural beauty without artificial distractions.

Located in the heart of Hanoi, near the historic Hoan Kiem Lake, Capella Hanoi reflects Bensley’s signature maximalist approach. Known for his ability to craft immersive narratives through design, Bensley drew inspiration for this project from the world of opera.
The hotel is a tribute to the artists, composers, and glamorous guests of the Belle Époque era, evoking the opulence of historic European opera houses while grounding its aesthetics in Vietnamese heritage. The overarching theme revolves around the idea of a “petite auberge”—a fictional retreat where opera performers and aficionados once gathered, celebrating their craft in an atmosphere of indulgence and refinement.
The hotel exterior presents a refined yet stately façade, blending neoclassical influences with Art Deco flourishes. Echoing the grandeur of old-world opera houses, the building features ornate mouldings, arched windows, and a soft, cream palette that contrasts with the vibrant streets of Hanoi. Despite its grandeur, the scale remains intimate, reinforcing the boutique nature of the property.

Inside, guests are absorbed into a theatrical world of glamour and nostalgia. Bensley’s meticulous attention to detail ensures that every corner of the hotel tells a story. The lobby is adorned with periodspecific artifacts, hand-painted murals, and dramatic chandeliers reminiscent of those found in Parisian opera houses.
Rich velvets, lacquered wood, and gilded accents create a sense of grandeur. The colour scheme is bold yet balanced, with deep jewel tones—emerald greens, ruby reds, and sapphire blues—contrasting against softer hues of cream and gold. The furniture, sourced from various parts of the world and customdesigned, channels the elegance of the early 20th century, incorporating both European and Vietnamese craftsmanship.
Each of the 47 rooms and suites is uniquely designed; themed around a character from the opera world, be it a diva, a composer, or celebrated patron.
Handcrafted furniture, bespoke wallpaper, and curated artworks bring these characters to life. The headboards are often inspired by the elaborate costumes of opera singers, while the bathrooms feature clawfoot tubs, intricate mosaic tiles, and vintage-inspired fittings. The integration of Vietnamese artisanal elements, such as hand-embroidered textiles and lacquerware, ensures that the local culture remains an integral part of the design.

One of the most captivating spaces in the hotel is the Diva’s Lounge, a richly decorated bar that pays homage to legendary opera singers. Plush seating, intimate lighting, and an eclectic mix of vintage memorabilia make it a space where guests can revel in the romance of a bygone era.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Backstage, continues the theatrical theme with a design that mirrors the behind-the-scenes areas of an opera house. The walls are adorned with sketches of costumes, stage set designs, and old playbills.
Auriga Spa takes inspiration from traditional Vietnamese healing rituals while maintaining an air of old-world luxury. The design incorporates natural materials such as stone, bamboo, and wood, creating a serene and intimate environment. The treatment rooms, like the rest of the hotel, follow the opera house theme, with subtle nods to theatrical elements such as vintage dressing tables and heavy drapery.

In keeping with Bensley’s commitment to storytelling through artistic details, every hallway, corridor, and common space is adorned with vintage opera memorabilia—costume sketches, original posters, and antique opera glasses. Sculptures and installations further reinforce the theme.
Bensley also incorporated humour and whimsy into the design, a hallmark of his work. Small, unexpected details—such as hidden animal motifs in the wallpaper or tongue-in-cheek quotes from famous opera singers—add layers of charm that make the space feel both luxurious and playful.
Capella Hanoi is a testament to Bill Bensley’s ability to fuse history, culture, and fantasy into a cohesive and immersive experience. By drawing from the world of opera and seamlessly integrating it with Vietnam’s artistic heritage, Bensley has created a hotel that is not just a place to stay but a destination in itself. With its intricate design, compelling storytelling, and unparalleled attention to detail, Capella Hanoi stands as one of Bensley’s most exquisite projects, offering guests an experience that is both nostalgic and enchanting.

DESIGN INSPIRED BY ACADEMIC ELEGANCE
LOCATED ON VIETNAM’S PICTURESQUE PHU QUOC ISLAND, THE RESORT IS A MASTERPIECE OF DESIGN. RENOWNED FOR ITS WHIMSICAL, STORY-DRIVEN AESTHETIC THAT BLENDS HISTORICAL FANTASY WITH MODERN LUXURY, CREATING AN EXPERIENCE BOTH TIMELESS AND EXTRAORDINARY.
THIS PHOTO: The Department of Chemistry Bar creates an atmosphere reminiscent of a scientific laboratory, complete with glassware and experimental décor.

The design of the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay is rooted in an imaginative backstory. The resort is presented as the former Lamarck University, a fictional institution established in the late 19th century. This narrative informs every aspect of the design, from the architecture to the interior details, creating a sense of authenticity and intrigue. Guests are invited to step into the shoes of students, professors, and visitors of this bygone academic haven, where learning, leisure, and luxury converge.
The architecture of the resort combines French colonial influences with a touch of Bensley’s signature eclecticism. Grand facades, arched windows, and intricate wrought ironwork evoke the elegance of 19th-century Indochina, while the use of pastel hues, particularly soft yellows, greens, and blues, gives the buildings a playful and inviting charm. Each building is styled to represent a different department of the fictional university, such as zoology, astronomy, or architecture, with subtle thematic cues woven into their design.

The beachfront location is a central feature, offering unobstructed views of the Gulf of Thailand.
The interiors of JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay are where Bensley’s talent for storytelling truly shines. Each space is meticulously curated with antiques, custom furniture, and whimsical details that tie into the university theme. The lobby, for instance, resembles an academic hall, complete with bookshelves, vintage globes, and a rich palette of dark wood and jewel tones. The guestrooms and suites are equally detailed, with each one offering a unique character that aligns with the academic narrative. Bold patterns, intricate tilework, and an eclectic mix of textures and colours create spaces that feel vibrant and inviting.

The resort’s dining venues are designed to transport guests into different worlds. For example, Tempus Fugit, the main restaurant, features a blend of colonial elegance and contemporary design, with open kitchens and a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Red Rum, the beachfront grill, exudes a rustic, nautical charm with its wooden accents and oceaninspired decor. Pink Pearl, the resort’s signature French fine-dining restaurant, stands out with its opulent, pink-hued interiors that evoke a sense of romance and decadence.
Public spaces, including the swimming pools and spa, continue the narrative-driven design. The resort features several pools, each with its own unique aesthetic, from the playful shell-shaped pool to the serene Sun Pool. The Chanterelle Spa, inspired by the whimsical world of mushrooms, offers an otherworldly retreat with organic shapes, soft lighting, and earthy tones.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the JW Marriott Phu Quoc is its attention to detail. Every element, no matter how small, contributes to the overall story. From the vintage-inspired signage and university crests to the curated collections of books and artifacts in each room, the resort feels like a living museum. Even the staff uniforms and the names of the facilities reflect the academic theme, reinforcing the sense of immersion.

The resort also incorporates sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient lighting and water-saving measures, ensuring that its environmental footprint is minimized.
The JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is a testament to Bill Bensley’s ability to merge storytelling with design. By creating a fictional yet believable narrative and translating it into every facet of the resort, he has crafted an experience that is as immersive as it is luxurious. Whether guests are lounging by the pool, dining in one of the themed restaurants, or simply strolling through the gardens, they are constantly surrounded by a sense of wonder and discovery. Hotel de la Coupole, located in the misty mountains of Sapa, Vietnam, is one of the most striking examples of Bill Bensley’s signature design philosophy, blending Indochine elegance with the whimsical and maximalist approach that has made Bensley one of the most celebrated hotel designers in the world.
Bensley’s vision for this property was to create a “luxurious French train station lost in the mountains,” merging the sophistication of Parisian fashion in the early 20th century with the rich cultural heritage of the Hmong, Dao, and other ethnic minority groups of northern Vietnam.
The hotel’s grand entrance features towering columns, intricate ironwork, and a grand chandelier that would not look out of place in a Belle Époque ballroom. The overall aesthetic draws inspiration from the lavish department stores of 1920s Paris, with bold colours, detailed mouldings, and eclectic art pieces contributing to nostalgic and avant-garde atmosphere.

One of the hotel’s defining features is the vibrant use of colour. Bensley’s signature style often incorporates a fearless mix of hues. Deep emerald greens, rich reds, and golden yellows dominate the interiors, reflecting both the natural landscape of Sapa and the traditional garments of local ethnic tribes.
Textures within the design are equally compelling. Velvet upholstery, patterned tiles, and handwoven fabrics coexist harmoniously, reflecting both French extravagance and the artisanal craftsmanship of Vietnam. Each element has been meticulously curated, ensuring that the space remains visually engaging from every angle.
Accommodations are an extension of the property’s grand narrative, maintaining a strong connection to the local setting. Featuring antique-style furniture, high ceilings, and ornate detailing, each room feels like a scene from a 1920s Parisian dream. The walls are adorned with vintage fashion sketches, mannequins dressed in haute couture-inspired garments, and intricate mouldings reminiscent of classical European salons. Handwoven textiles, tribal motifs, and wooden carvings celebrate the artistry of the region’s ethnic minorities, creating a unique blend of global sophistication and local authenticity.
