EQ3 NEW YORK FLAGSHIP
We collaborated with EQ3's design team to bring their unique retail vision to life in a new three-floor flagship store in the Chelsea Design District in New York City. The store is infused with natural daylight and benefits from our team's carefully calibrated lighting design to balance the natural daylighting. Views of the exterior and ground, and second floors. The project area is 11,800 square feet.

EQ3 NEW YORK FLAGSHIP
Although all three levels of the store are connected by an elevator, we gave special attention to the design of the metal and concrete stairs to encourage customers to move from floor to floor. The stair stringers are backlit, casting a soft glow on the adjacent wall that draws the eye upwards, inviting customers to explore the store. The linear LED light under the stair further urges the customers upward.

EQ3 SONO COLLECTION MALL
Our continued collaboration with EQ3 brought their retail concept to life in the SoNo Collection Mall in Norwalk, CT. To take advantage of their strategic location, we developed a custom-designed 112-foot-long storefront with a state-ofthe-art solution that is both elegantly minimal and welcoming. Carefully designed lighting design wraps the interior space in a soft glow. The project area is 9,500 square feet.

YARES ART GALLERY NEW YORK CITY
The design for the gallery is classic minimalism to avoid distraction from the artwork. The three primary design elements are the walls, floor, and ceiling. The walls, a pure white canvas with long expanses, allow flexibility in display. With the beams exposed, the slab ceiling allows maximum ceiling height, and the maple floor creates a soft contrast. The project area is 5,800 square feet.

TOURNEAU OUTLET CONCEPT
Our prototype for a national rollout of Tourneau outlet stores speaks to Tourneau’s leadership position in the world of luxury watches. Lustrous wallcoverings, durable flooring, and custom-designed dark walnut display cases with glass vitrines define the space. A sophisticated lighting concept creates a subtle ambiance while making the product sparkle. The project area was 2,500 square feet.

LANCÔME COLOR STUDIO SAN FRANCISCO
We created this prototype shop for Lancôme with a lively open-sell environment for direct product engagement and a separate, more personal setting for in-depth individual attention. Uniting the selling floor's irregular shape with an illuminated serpentine wall, we used multiple lighting techniques to create different levels of intimacy and product display. The project area is 1,200 square feet.

“Kenne worked closely with the retail team at Salvatore Ferragamo for more than six years as the company expanded into the U.S. marketplace. Her team provided a great service to our company as our U.S. Architect in the creation of seven major stores and more than sixty in-store-shops throughout the United States.
She created stores that built on the Ferragamo image and that were well organized and effectively displayed our merchandise to the U.S. customer. Ferragamo benefited greatly from Ms. Shepherd's professional dedication, design expertise and close attention to detail while maintaining demanding schedules and budgets.”

FERRAGAMO SOUTH COAST PLAZA
For over six years, we collaborated with Ferragamo, shaping its retail identity as it expanded to major locations across the US. Our first flagship project for them was the South Coast Plaza store in Costa Mesa, CA. It was their first store on the West Coast and showcased their entire collection and embodied all the key elements of the Ferragamo retail concept. The project area is 5,731 square feet.

FERRAGAMO SAN FRANCISCO
We further developed Ferragamo's retail image by creating a new West Coast flagship store that offered a fresh, classic image synonymous with the family's definition of modern style. Design elements that achieve the store's softer nuance include floating bleached maple shelves and satin-finished walnut display cases with minimal stainless steel frames. The project area is 9,000 square feet.

FERRAGAMO SAN FRANCISCO
The architectural style of the West Coast flagship store harmonizes with the family's ethos. The sweeping interior vistas create an open, inviting space, while the dynamic two-story vertical area illuminated by a floating lighting grid creates an ambiance of contemporary elegance. The store's generous architectural proportions add a fresh minimalist style and soft modern appeal to the time-honored family name.

FERRAGAMO SAN FRANCISCO
The flagship's understated elegance is achieved through carefully designed display elements. Bleached maple shelves float before lacquered panels, and minimall\ stainless steel display vitrines with satin-finished walnut bases are strategically positioned throughout. These elements create defined spaces for each product group, enhancing the shopping experience while maintaining the store's soft aesthetic.

CALVIN KLEIN MADISON AVENUE STORE
We collaborated with London-based designer John Pawson on the design of Calvin Klein's New York flagship. The ground floor is a lively composition of soaring vertical elements that define the double-height retail environment and strong horizontal elements that create a human scale for the display of Calvin Klein's Women's Collection. The project area is 20,000 square feet.

CALVIN KLEIN MADISON AVENUE STORE
On the second floor, a sense of openness and calm order surround Calvin Klein's Men's Ready to Wear Collection. The space is defined by natural sanded stone flooring and absolute white for the wall surfaces and ceiling. The minimal design and neutral palette create a serene background for the precise placement of the Collection on brushed stainless steel display fixtures and dark walnut display tables.

FITNESS CENTER & LOUNGE
We designed a 3,400-square-foot fitness center in an Upper East Side residential building with a weight and aerobics area, yoga studio, spa, and steam room. Challenged by the lack of natural daylight and views, we created a dynamic and inviting environment by combining a flowing layout of the studio spaces with backlit mirrors lining the weight room and an innovative lighting scheme.

FITNESS CENTER MATERIALS
Rich yet durable materials further the unique qualities of the fitness center. Material finishes and furniture used for the Fitness Center include Magna Mosaics Natural Cubic split-face stone used for accent walls, a reflective Xorel wallcovering, EcoSurface task flooring, ceramic and glass tiles, and walnut-stained bamboo paneling. Space, light, and materials are seamlessly woven to create a richly inviting experience.

EQ3 FLAGSHIP, NEW YORK
Founded in 1993, New York–based firm Kenne Shepherd Interior Design Architecture has extensive experience working with established brands looking to move into the U.S. market or expand their presence there.
The woman-owned studio, a certified Woman Business Enterprise, has collaborated with notable luxury and lifestyle labels including Salvatore Ferragamo, Calvin Klein, and Wolford. And most recently, EQ3, a young Canadian furniture retailer. “EQ3’s design aesthetic is very much in alignment with our own,” firm principal Kenne Shepherd notes. “They design and manufacture much of their furniture, and their product line is curated with a consistent modern aesthetic.”
The gridded facade of the brand’s Manhattan flagship store is echoed in the straightforward simplicity of the white-oak display fixtures inside, arrayed in a linear grid. As shoppers progress through the store, vignettes unfold seamlessly. The oak displays can be rearranged seasonally to create new stories. Although all three levels are connected by an elevator, special attention was given to the design of the stairwell in order to entice customers to move from floor to floor. The stair stringers are backlit, casting a soft glow on the adjacent wall that draws the eye upwards, encouraging and inviting customers to explore.

Flooring throughout is prefinished wide planks of plain-sawn white oak. The high-efficiency LED linear track lighting offers complete flexibility with respect to illuminating the merchandise. Back-lighting of the metal and concrete stair leads the eye up to the second floor and down to the lower level. Second-floor vignettes showcase bedroom furniture, lounge seating, and accessories.
