ODYSSEY
Spring 2023
The first part of this project focused on choosing and working with the site which would act as a point of connection within campus. The second part of this project was to design a past room, present room, and future room all representing campus and it’s community and culture.

VIEWS

The site that I chose provided unique views from 2 of the biggest hotspots on campus: Allen Fieldhouse and the Underground off of Jayhawk Boulevard. The site is nestled in between 5 academic buildings, so I mapped out where people can glimpse the site so I could draw people up into the site and then further up onto the heart of campus.

The building going underground allowed for it to work with the site and not obstruct any views, so I decided that each room would have a roof that connects you to above in an individual way. The past room has a plated roof representing the fragments of memory and life that make up our past. A geometric line leads you from the past room to the future room which juts up above ground opening up to an flex space framing a beautiful view of the KU hill.
