The paradigm shift What has happened in the world of communication in the last 8-10 years can be called a true “paradigm shift”. This term refers to the introduction of a technical innovation or thought able to establish a new system of knowledge that replaces the previous one. This is how most scientific disciplines have evolved; and, by looking at the impact the spread of the Internet has had on our lives, the relevance of the term is immediately clear: there has been a paradigm shift in our conception of communication and personal relationships.

In our industry, beauty bloggers and beauty advisors as well as tutorials and online commerce have profoundly affected the way consumers relate to cosmetics. Everyone is more informed and independent, and it is precisely information, or rather the new broad accessibility to information, that has caused a significant change of pace in conceiving the different forms of exchange.

In this scenario, we certainly cannot wish that human curiosity be “satiated” and it will certainly be to our advantage to see this change as an evolution and quickly adapt to the new being established. In fact, from now on, competition in the market will take place on a plane parallel to our everyday reality, and with different rules than those we are accustomed to.

Providing well-founded, accurate and reliable explanations or clarifications will, thus, become a determining factor for success both on the web (to become an influential voice among the thousands of opinions travelling on the net) and in the real market (to establish oneself as a recognized specialist and professional).

This is the case of the salon; it will always have the good fortune of being a physical place of exchange and human interaction that is essential for any society. For this reason, it will be crucial to become a reference point for professionalism and expertise.

As a company, we have made the professional enrichment of hairstylists our mission. We take exacting care in preparing the message for the end-user and our training programs for hairstylists are finetuned and geared towards fully sharing our corporate know-how.

Today, our vocation is moving online with the unveiling of our new website, which aims to become an example for design and content in the world of professional cosmetics. It will be constantly updated with new and entertaining topics, thanks to the online magazine The Italian Touch, and a place for direct and immediate interaction with our customers.

Of course, like at the salon, all this is happening without losing, in our everyday life, the closeness to our customers and family feeling that have always characterized us and of which we are proud. It is this very feeling that leads us to a deeper understanding of the needs of our market and the development of ever more innovative ways for helping it grow.

Editorial Il cambio di paradigma Ciò che è successo nel mondo della comunicazione negli ultimi 8-10 anni si può definire un vero e proprio “cambio di paradigma” con questo termine si intende l’introduzione di un’innovazione tecnica o di pensiero in grado di stabilire un nuovo sistema di conoscenze rispetto a quello precedente. È così che si sono evolute la maggior parte delle discipline scientifiche; ed osservando l’impatto che la diffusione di internet ha avuto sulle nostre vite, è subito chiara la pertinenza del termine: c’è stato un cambio di paradigma nella nostra concezione di comunicazione e relazione personale.

Nel nostro settore beauty blogger e beauty advisor, tutorial e commercio on-line influenzano profondamente il modo dei consumatori di rapportarsi con la cosmesi: tutti sono più informati ed autonomi, ed è proprio l’informazione, o meglio la nuova ampia accessibilità all’informazione, che ha determinato un cambio di passo notevole nel concepire le diverse forme di scambio.

In questo scenario, non potendosi di certo augurare che la curiosità umana si “sazi”, conviene sicuramente vivere il cambiamento come un’evoluzione e adeguarsi in fretta al nuovo ordine stabilito: d’ora in poi la competizione di mercato si svolgerà, infatti, su di un piano parallelo rispetto la nostra realtà quotidiana, e con regole diverse rispetto a quelle a cui siamo abituati.

Essere in grado di procurare, spiegazioni o chiarimenti fondati, veritieri ed affidabili diventa quindi un fattore determinante di successo sia sul web (per diventare una voce autorevole tra le migliaia di opinioni che viaggiano in rete), come anche nel mercato reale (per affermarsi come riconosciuti specialisti e professionisti). È il caso del salone: avrà sempre la fortuna di rimanere un luogo fisico di scambio ed interazione umana imprescindibile nella società; per questo motivo diviene imprescindibile per esso divenire un punto di riferimento per professionalità e competenze.

Come azienda abbiamo fatto dell’arricchimento professionale del parrucchiere la nostra mission, curando attentamente la comunicazione verso il cliente finale e mettendo a punto piani formativi per l’acconciatore protési alla piena condivisione del know-how aziendale.

Questa nostra vocazione si trasferisce oggi on-line con l’inaugurazione del nuovo sito internet, che punta a diventare esempio per design e contenuti nel mondo della cosmetica professionale, aggiornato con tematiche sempre nuove ed interessanti, grazie al magazine on-line The Italian Touch, e luogo di interazione diretta e immediata con i nostri clienti.

Ovviamente tutto questo avviene senza perdere, come per il parrucchiere nella sua quotidianità, quella vicinanza ai nostri clienti e quel family feeling che sempre ci ha contraddistinto e di cui facciamo vanto, poiché ci porta a comprendere più approfonditamente le esigenze del nostro mercato e a mettere a punto soluzioni ogni volta più innovative per contribuire a farlo crescere.

Architettura di tendenza...

Le fotografie di Julius Shulman hanno anticipato i moderni principi del design ...l’occhio di un maestro dall’approccio geniale documenta e rilegge la complessa e articolata epopea del modernismo Andreas M.Jürgen Ammirare un edificio post-moderno in un pomeriggio bagnato dal sole, con la luce che ne accarezza le finestre con la giusta angolazione, è un po’come vivere il divino nel modo in cui è stato concepito da Dio, o almeno dalla trinità architettonica formata da Robert A. M. Stern, Frank Gehry and Michael Graves. E’ un’architettura che si basa sull’unicità di esterni che spesso e volentieri trovano la loro naturale prosecuzione all’interno dell’edificio, i cui dettami nascono dal desiderio di creare una superficie esteticamente gradevole. Un’architettura che dà vita ad edifici unici, carichi di sarcasmo, sorprese, contraddizioni e auto-ironia, ognuno dei quali contiene indubbi elementi di originalità. L’“architettura è arte”: questo è il nuovo mantra che va a soppiantare le idee ormai superate dei modernisti secondo cui la “forma segue la funzione”. Una volta a Frank Gehry, figura iconica dell’architettura post-moderna, fu chiesto quali fossero stati i suoi idoli o maestri nella storia dell’architettura.

Alla domanda Gehry rispose prendendo la fotografia di Brancusi che si trovava sulla sua scrivania... “In realtà, tendo più a far riferimento ad artisti di questo genere. Quest’uomo ha influenzato il mio lavoro più della stragrande maggioranza degli architetti. In effetti, qualcuno ha suggerito che il mio grattacielo che ha vinto una gara a New York assomigliasse ad una scultura di Brancusi. Guardando al mondo dell’architettura, potrei indicare Alvar Aalto come una delle persone per cui ho grande rispetto, e naturalmente Philip Johnson.” Distintamente strutturali e funzionali e, tuttavia, privi di qualsiasi stereotipizzazione e convenzionalità, gli elementi di design di questi edifici guardano alla sensibilità dell’ambiente, spesso senza incontrare l’apprezzamento di tutti. Ciò che per alcuni è post-moderno ed iconico e, talora, ironico, per altri non è altro che un ammasso di cemento e mattoni. Prendiamo, per esempio, la risposta che i mormoni, società che non passerà certo alla storia per il gusto avanguardistico dei suoi membri, hanno riservato al recente annuncio della costruzione di un tempio postmodernista a Lehi, Utah. Oltraggiati dal fatto che la loro chiesa avesse abbandonato le linee e le forme monotone, uniformi e conformiste cui erano abituati, i mormoni hanno disertato il nuovo tempio che, da quando è stato costruito, è rimasto aperto ma inutilizzato a riprova del fatto che evidentemente Dio non può essere venerato ovunque.

Andando a colmare il divario esistente fra architettura astratta e architettura espressiva, Le Corbusier è andato a colmare anche il gap che separava l’approccio tettonico all’edificio da quello scultoreo. Tuttavia, guardando oltre l’aspetto superficiale di un qualsiasi edificio post-moderno, si scorgerà come rispecchi quell’“onestà” così spesso rimpianta dal postmodernismo.

Il volume “Modernism Rediscovered” getta per la prima volta luce su una serie di capolavori architettonici ormai dimenticati.

Attraverso le immagini inedite tratte dagli archivi personali del celebre fotografo Julius Shulman, il volume rende omaggio ad edifici residenziali e commerciali rimasti in passato lontani dalle pubblicazioni di settore. Le sue straordinarie fotografie colgono aspetti del modernismo Californiano che raramente si sono potuti ammirare in passato; grazie al suo sguardo attento alla forma ed al contenuto, al suo senso del timing così intuitivo ed alle sue inconfondibili angolazioni, Shulman ha ritratto in modo audace ed inedito centinaia e centinaia di strutture moderne ubicate oltre i confini di Los Angeles. Attraverso l’obiettivo di Shulman, gli edifici si trasformano in studi di massa, luci ed ombre unici nel loro genere. Shulman ha passato la maggior parte della sua vita a raccontare e documentare i capolavori del modernismo. Uno dei principali fotografi d’architettura del XX secolo, Shulman ha intrattenuto stretti rapporti con i più importanti architetti modernisti degli anni cinquanta e sessanta del secolo scorso. Ciò che “Modernism Rediscovered” si propone di riscoprire, tuttavia, non è tanto l’opera di Shulman quanto alcuni particolari aspetti dell’architettura modernista. Le immagini, tratte direttamente dagli originali fotografici di Shulman, ripropongono con sorprendente freschezza la visione del modernismo losangelino portata avanti dal fotografo nel corso degli anni. Gli scatti di Shulman si caratterizzano per i modelli sistemati in pose accuratamente studiate e ritratti sullo sfondo di arredi dalle linee semplici e pulite, di straordinarie vedute di paesaggi urbani o lande desolate, arse dal sole della California...

Architecturally Fashionable...

Julius Shulman’s images pioneering the principles of design ...a master’s eye with a genius approach push into methodic professionalism the critical modernist epopea

To witness a post-Modern building on a sunny afternoon, the light hitting the windows in just the right way, is to experience the divine in the way that God, or at least the holy trinity of Robert A. M. Stern, Frank Gehry and Michael Graves, intended it. An architecture that relies on a uniquely represented exterior, often carrying over into the interior of the building, because of the desire to create an æsthetically pleasing surface. Laden with irony, surprise, contradiction and self-mockery, each unique building contains definitely an element of originality. The belief that “architecture is art” is the new mantra, replacing the out dated ideas of the Modernists that “form follows function”. Frank Gehry, an icon of post-Modern architecture, was once asked if he had any mentors or idols in the history of architecture. His reply was to pick up a Brancusi photograph on his desk...

“Actually, I tend to think more in terms of artists like this. He has had more influence on my work than most architects. In fact, someone suggested that my skyscraper that won a New York competition looked like a Brancusi sculpture. I could name Alvar Aalto from the architecture world as someone for whom I have great respect and of course, Philip Johnson.”

Distinctively structural and functional, yet non-formulaic the design elements of the buildings, consider the sensitivity of the environment, often not to the appreciation of all. What is post modern and iconic and sometimes ironic to some is just bricks and concete to others. Take for example the Mormons, a society not exactly well known for their avant gardist taste, when it was recently announced that a post-Modernist temple was to be designed in Lehi, Utah. Outraged that their church would no longer depict the drab, uniform, conformist buildings that they were used to, the temple has remained unused yet open since it’s contruction, proving that apparantly God cannot be worshiped anywhere.

If Le Corbusier bridged the gap between abstract and expressive architecture, he as well bridged between the tectonic and sculptural approach to building. However, scratch the surface of any post modernist architecture and you will see that it reflects the “honesty” so often lamented in postmodernism. A hip irony for urban planners, that, according to scholars, “Postmodernism, by definition ...resists definition”.

The book Modernism Rediscovered, brought light for the first time on forgotten architectural masterpieces. Drawn from photographer Julius Shulman’s personal archives, the book pays pays tribute to residential and commercial buildings that had slipped from public view. His stunning photographs capture a rarely seen side of California Modernism; with his sharp eye for form and content, his intuitive timing and distinctive camera angles, he produced bold portraits of hundreds of modern structures beyond Los Angeles. Through Shulman’s lens, buildings become unique studies of mass, shadow, and light.

Shulman has spent most of his life chronicling the masterpieces of modernism. As one of the leading architectural photographers of the 20th century, artist Julius Shulman developed a close association with the leading modernist architects of the 1950s and 1960s. What is being rediscovered in Moderism Rediscovered, is not Shulman’s work but a particular view on modernist architecture. Taken from originals, it makes Shulman’s depiction of L.A. modernism look startlingly fresh. This epic, three-volume retrospective has emerged from Shulman’s phenomenal back catalogue, a working archive of 260.000 prints, negatives and colour transparencies. Directed and produced by Benedikt Taschen, the long-time friend and publisher of Shulman’s work, this is a comprehensively chronological and beautifully produced, monument to a long career. La chiave del successo? “Anticipare quello che i clienti si aspettano da Gucci, essere una sorta di tramite tra il nostro tempo e la gente. Persone che hanno voglia di rinnovarsi, di essere speciali, affascinanti, sicure di sé. Gucci ha successo perché offre un concetto di moda, non la moda per la moda. Non mando mai in passerella vestiti o accessori, magari d’effetto, ma di scarsa vendita sicura” (a Laura Dubini, Corriere della Sera). Un crescendo fino al 2004, l’ultima sua sfilata a marzo, dopo lascia il gruppo “con grande tristezza, ma confidiamo nell’aver lasciato uno dei più forti team del settore”. Nel 2005 annuncia la sua linea uomo personale, la partnership con il Gruppo Marcolin e la collaborazione con Ermenegildo Zegna. È l’ennesimo trionfo. Dai profumi alla moda, al cinema, quando fonda la casa di produzione Fade to black e debutta come regista con A Single Man, tratto dal romanzo di Christopher Isherwood e interpretato da Colin Firth e Julianne Moore, narra la giornata di un professore inglese omosessuale che insegna in California.

Dal 1986 ha una relazione con il giornalista inglese Richard Buckley, la lettera d’amore che Ford gli dedicò su Vogue Paris nel numero dedicato all’uscita del suo film ha fatto storia: “La prima volta che il suo sguardo ha incrociato il mio, ho dovuto voltare la testa. Non so se è stato perché i suoi occhi sono così singolari e affascinati, o perché si è accesa una scintilla tra di noi. Gli occhi di Richard hanno il colore dell’acqua. Non blu, non grigi, e neppure beige. È uno degli esseri più belli che abbia mai visto nella mia vita”. Nel 2012 hanno adottato un bambino, Alexander John Buckley Ford, e vivono tutti insieme nel loro ranch di Santa Fe con Angus e India, due fox terrier a pelo liscio apparsi anche nel film A Single Man.

Thomas Carlyle Ford, classe 1961, di Austin, Texas. Conosciuto in tutto il mondo come Tom Ford. A 11 anni si trasferisce con la famiglia a Santa Fe, New Mexico, dove in seguito ha costruito la sua mega-casa-ranch-mausoleo su progetto dell’archistar Tadao Ando, a 17 vola a New York. Studia alla Parsons School of Design e Storia dell’arte alla New York University.

Sono gli anni delle frequentazioni con Andy Warhol e la mitica discoteca Studio 54, leggenda vuole si ispirasse ai personaggi che affollavano il club correndo poi a disegnare schizzi nella caffetteria lì vicino. Prima dell’ultimo anno alla Parsons lavora a Parigi per sei mesi come stagista nell’ufficio stampa di Chloé. Nel 1986 si laurea in architettura ed entra a far parte dello staff della Designer Cathy Hardwick, nel 1988 passa a Perry Ellis come Direttore del design, sotto la supervisione di Marc Jacobs.

Il 1990 è l’anno in cui inizia l’avventura nel marchio Gucci, sull’orlo della bancarotta, prima come responsabile dell’abbigliamento donna ready-to-wear, dal 1992 come Direttore del design. Nell’azienda fiorentina porta sensualità e una visione della moda che rifletta la cultura popolare, evochi edonismo e punti a rompere ogni taboo su sesso e sessualità.

Quando nel 1994 Gucci viene acquistata da Investcorp, Ford sale a Creative director: è l’ultimo, essenziale tassello che gli permette di far esplodere il brand. Nel 1995 insistendo con il suo stile sexy ed elegante, le camicie modaiole, stivali vernice satinata con riflessi metallici, pantaloni che abbracciano i fianchi, abiti casual con tacco a spillo, velluto, raso, seta e tessuti a maglia, Gucci e Ford entrano insieme nel gotha della moda internazionale. Da allora il marchio fiorentino verrà associato a tutto ciò che è sexy e chic. Soprattutto dallo star-system mondiale.

Un balzo incredibile, dai 500 milioni del 1995 il fatturato sale a 800 l’anno dopo. Quotato in borsa, il titolo uscito nell’ottobre 1995 a 22 dollari, triplica 11 mesi dopo a 65. Un miracolo di fatturato e di immagine: “Non avrei mai potuto fare quello che ho fatto con Gucci, in America.

Nel vostro Paese ci sono straordinarie e molteplici opportunità non soltanto nella qualità del lavoro ma anche nei rapporti umani”. Brillante, talentuoso, con un approccio verso l’estetica e l’arte impareggiabile, ha un incredibile intuito per ciò che piace, potrà piacere. E vendere. Fondamentali le campagne di comunicazioni di Gucci degli anni ’90, di cui si occupa personalmente: “Il mio ruolo dal 1994 è multiforme. Disegno e progetto undici collezioni con un team di una decina di assistenti. Curo e controllo l’immagine creativa di tutti gli aspetti di Gucci, dalle campagne pubblicitarie, ai negozi, alle vetrine, al packaging. Ho una visione globale. È un po’ come se stessi girando un film o dirigendo un’orchestra”.

La collezione Autunno/Inverno 1996 è il suo capolavoro. Smoking di velluto rosso, gessati femminili, look androgino...

Un’intensissima visione, perfetta fusione di glamour anni ’70 e modernismo italiano con tocchi di design classico. Se solo nel 1993 Gucci era un brand sull’orlo del tracollo, nel 2000 ingloba addirittura Yves Saint Laurent e Ford ne diventa Chief designer: “Storicamente, Gucci è Sophia Loren, Yves Saint Laurent Catherine Deneuve. Sono entrambe sexy, ma Gucci è un po’ più scontato rispetto a Saint Laurent” (Tom Ford, citato in British Vogue).

Lustrinato dal dizionario Treccani: “Neologismi (2008), aggettivo. Ornato, ricoperto di lustrini. Il laico [Tom] Ford è diventato l’indiscusso sacerdote del lusso proprio quando il credo minimalista ha cominciato a fare proselitismo. Imperversano ragazze e giovanotti esangui in abiti fin troppo essenziali? Lui risponde con lo slip lustrinato, le scarpe di coccodrillo, il jeans con il diamante. Per far sognare, per far sorridere, per far vendere soprattutto: passare inosservati non è condizione gradita a tutti (Gian Luigi Paracchini, Corriere della Sera)”.

The key to his success? “Anticipating what customers expect from Gucci, being a kind of intermediary between our time and the people. People who want to renew themselves, to be special, fascinating and self-confident. Gucci is successful because it offers a fashionable concept, not fashion for fashion’s sake. I never put dresses or accessories on the catwalk, even with impact, if they are sure to have low sales” (to Laura Dubini Corriere della Sera). A crescendo until 2004, his last show in March, after leaving the group “with great sadness, but we are confident in having left one of the strongest teams in the industry”. In 2005, he announced his personal men’s line, the partnership with the Marcolin Group and the collaboration with Ermenegildo Zegna. It was yet another triumph. From fragrances and accessories, to fashion and cinema, when he founded the production company Fade to black and debuted as a director with A Single Man, adapted from the novel by Christopher Isherwood, starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, which describes the day of a gay English professor teaching in California.

In 2012, they adopted a child, Alexander John Buckley Ford, and they all live together in their ranch in Santa Fe with Angus and India, two smooth-haired fox terriers that also appeared in the film A Single Man.

Anticipating what customers expect, being a kind of intermediary between our time and the people

Thomas Carlyle Ford, born 1961 in Austin, Texas. Known worldwide as Tom Ford. At age 11, his family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where later he built his mega-ranch-house-mausoleum designed by archi-star Tadao Ando and, at age 17, he flew to New York. He studied at the Parsons School of Design and Art History at New York University. These are the years spent around Andy Warhol and the legendary nightclub Studio 54, according to legend, he would take inspiration from the personalities who crowded the club and then run to sketch in the nearby café. Before his last year at Parsons, he did a six-month internship in the Chloé press office. In 1986, he received a degree in architecture and joined the staff of designer Cathy Hardwick and, in 1988, he went to Perry Ellis as Director of Design, under the supervision of Marc Jacobs.

The year he began his adventure with the Gucci brand, then on the brink of bankruptcy, was 1990, first as the head of women’s ready-to-wear apparel and, from 1992 as Director of Design. To the Florentine company, he brought sensuality and a fashion vision that reflects popular culture, evokes hedonism and focuses on breaking every taboo of sex and sexuality.

When Gucci was acquired by Investcorp in 1994, Ford rose to Creative director – the last essential piece that allowed him to make the brand explode. In 1995, continuing his sexy, elegant style with fashionable shirts, satinized patent-leather boots with metallic reflections, hip-hugging pants, casual dresses paired with high heels, and velvet, satin, silk and knitted fabrics, Gucci and Ford entered the elite worldwide fashion circles. From then on, the Florentine brand was associated with all that is sexy and chic, especially by the worldwide star system.

The brand saw a huge leap in sales, from 500 million in 1995 to 800 million the following year. Listed on the stock exchange in 1995 at $22 dollars, in 11 months it tripled to 65. It was a sales and image miracle: “I could never have done what I did with Gucci in the United States.

In your country there are extraordinary and multiple opportunities not only in terms of the quality of work but also in human relations”. Brilliant, talented, with an unparalleled approach to aesthetics and art, he had an incredible intuition for what people like or could like – and for knowing what sells. Gucci’s communication campaigns in the 1990s, which he managed personally, were fundamental: “In 1994, my role was multifaceted. I designed and planned eleven collections with a team of ten assistants. I managed the creative image of all aspects of Gucci, from advertising campaigns to stores, windows and packaging. I had a global vision. It’s a bit like you’re shooting a film or directing an orchestra”.

The Autumn/Winter 1996 collection was his masterpiece. Red velvet tuxedos, feminine pinstripes, an androgynous look: his was an intense vision, the perfect fusion of 70’s glamour and Italian modernism with a touch of classic design. In 1993, Gucci was a brand on the verge of collapse, in 2000 it absorbed non other than Yves Saint Laurent and Ford became Chief Designer: “Historically, Gucci is Sophia Loren, while Yves Saint Laurent is Catherine Deneuve. They are both sexy. It’s just that Gucci is a bit more obvious than Saint Laurent” (Tom Ford, quoted in British Vogue).

From the Treccani dictionary: “[Neologisms (2008)]. Sequined, adj. Ornate, covered with sequins. The layman [Tom] Ford became the undisputed priest of luxury when the minimalist credo began to win converts. Are colourless girls and young men dominating fashion in clothing that is even too basic? He responds with sequined briefs, crocodile shoes and jeans with diamonds. To make you dream and smile, but especially to sell: passing unobserved is not a condition that pleases everyone (Gian Luigi Paracchini, Corriere della Sera)”.

Una semplicità raffinata di linee rigorose, geometrie e androginia in abiti tipicamente maschili contraddistinti da linee semplici e assolutamente eleganti e sempre sensuali. Nella collezione Gucci Autunno/Inverno 2014/2015 ritorna un total-look dal sapore fortemente anni ’70. Cappotti dal taglio sartoriale e pantaloni skinny, un’androginia morbida che assottiglia ancor di più le differenze tra i sessi. Lo stesso elegante recupero che propone con successo Hedy Slimane per Yves Saint Laurent quest’inverno: una sensuale malizia di forme lisce, pantaloni a sigaretta, mini-dress dal taglio sartoriale. E il ritorno del mitico tuxedo femminile, ma sopra leggins neri e con un top lustrinato.

Colori dalle tonalità uniformi, sature e brillanti: nero, blu, rosso e arancio predominano su textures lucide. È la riscossa di una semplicità impreziosita da sensualità e raffinatezza anche nella moda capelli. Stile austero e rigoroso, teste dai volumi piccoli, linee pulite e forme compatte. I tagli quasi unisex richiamano anch’essi l’androginia e sono caratterizzati da “nuche lunghe”, nonostante una concentrazione dei volumi nella zona anteriore e ciuffi laterali. Il colore delle nuances spazia dal rame “red” al biondo chiarissimo passando per il castano, alla riscoperta, anche qui, della saturazione dei colori. Riscoprire, richiamare, valorizzare. Sono i comandamenti per un ritorno a un passato immortale e che continua a rinnovare tutto un secolo...

A refined simplicity of rigorous, geometrical and androgynous lines in typically masculine clothing characterized by simple, absolutely elegant and always sensual lines. The Gucci Fall-Winter 2014-2015 collection returns to a total-look with a strongly 1970s flavour.

Tailored coats and skinny pants evoke a soft androgyny that reduces the differences between the sexes even further. Modern women are more dedicated to ethics than aesthetics, “to please themselves more than others”, said Creative Director Frida Giannini.

It is also the Florentine brand’s return to the 1960s and 1970s, as Tom Ford did ten years ago, taking its inspiration from masculine and feminine icons, both break-away, such as Marianne Faithfull and bourgeois, see Jackie Kennedy. The same recovery of elegance successfully proposed this winter by Hedy Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent: a sensual maliciousness of smooth shapes, slim suits, cigarette pants and tailored mini-dresses. And the return of the legendary feminine tuxedo, but over black leggings and with a sequined top.

Colours with uniform, saturated and brilliant tones: black, blue, red and also orange predominating on shiny textures. It is a return to simplicity enhanced by sensuality and sophistication, even in hair fashion. An austere, rigorous style, small-volume heads with clean lines and compact shapes. Even the almost unisex cuts recall an androgyny characterized by “long necks”, despite a concentration of volumes in the front and side-swept bangs.

Hair colour shades range from copper-red to light blond passing through chestnut, rediscovering colour saturation here as well. Rediscover, evoke, enhance. These are the commandments of a return to an immortal past that continues to renew an entire century...

Colori e atmosfere della natura, letteratura del viaggio e nomadismo delle appartenenze. In una definizione: futurismo etnico. Nella seconda collezione The Italian Touch cenni arcaici e quasi primordiali si mescolano tra loro in uno stile che sa di tradizioni riviste in chiave moderna: eleganti e ricercati richiami afro-asiatici, centro-americani e zen sono espressione di un nomadismo che riporta alla mente il viaggio e il suo senso di libertà. Un mood che a prima vista può sembrare in contrasto con il contesto contemporaneo 2.0, e invece è un perfetto mix che mescola l’aspetto più materico e introspettivo del passato con quello più moderno e pubblico del presente. A voler solennemente affermare di trovarci ai primordi del futuro e di esserne avanguardie e pionieri.

Un ritorno contemporaneo all’arcaico, con Asia e Africa protagoniste.

La cruise di Chanel per la Primavera/Estate 2015 è emblematica già dalla location selezionata da Karl Lagerfeld: The Island a Dubai è puro futurismo etnico. Dettagli originali ed eccentrici calibrati a particolari di grande stile, motivi floreali, accessori, forme ampie e colori caldi in un oriente sempre presente. Anche nel trucco da principesse arabe.

“Romantica, senza tocchi folcloristici, la mia idea di Oriente del 21° secolo”, spiega Lagerfeld, che così continua e sviluppa la precedente collezione di quest’inverno, cruise presentata in un supermercato, e particolarmente ricca di spunti nelle acconciature, con differenti texture e applicazioni in stile selvaggio di treccine e rasta.

Stesso mood ripreso nella collezione cruise Louis Vuitton Primavera/ Estate 2015 firmata per la seconda volta da Nicolas Ghesquière e descritta come un ritorno alle origini del lusso abbinato al concetto di viaggio. Ancor più accentuato in Givenchy, dove forme, colori e fantasie hanno un forte sapore etnico: l’ampio uso di pelli e pellicce e la proposta di capelli con l’uso di trecce incrociate tra loro sono un viaggio interculturale tra Giappone, Africa e America. Una moda alla ricerca di influenze e stili delle diverse culture sfuggite a una globalizzazione selvaggia. Dagli abiti alle acconciature, agli accessori.

Come Olivier Rousteing per Balmain la prossima Primavera/Estate: dettagli in corda, collane etniche ispirate ai Masai, maxi-cinture e orecchini stile hip-hop, con Rihanna testimonial.

Design scultoreo e viaggio, colori della terra con sfumature organiche, tonalità brillanti ma scure e dall’aspetto del tutto naturale: è un trend di colori marrone scuro, nocciola, crema o rosso cupo, le nuances più evidenti. Anche gli accessori, usati in maniera quasi eccessiva, sono un mix di materia grezza e superfici cromate o a specchio, capaci quindi di sintetizzare l’anima etnica e quella futuristica del mood.

Così come il make-up, grazie all’ampio utilizzo di aloni bronzo, oro e argento. La moda capelli in questo senso presenta uno stile meno rigoroso e con più libertà di espressione e forme più libere. Le teste creano più volume laterale o sono allungate, quasi a riproporre turbanti di capelli o creste moicane, e in alcuni casi le acconciature sono caratterizzate da treccine e textures alternative, quasi selvagge, ma sempre eleganti. Le nuances di riferimento sono i biondi cenere o ghiaccio, i dorati e le tonalità del castano. Un costante ritorno alle origini che guarda al futuro, non prima però di esserci confrontati col mondo che ci circonda. Soprattutto del bello, libero e incontaminato che ne rimane...

Colours and moods of nature, travel literature and nomadic identity.

In a definition: ethnic futurism. In the second mood of The Italian Touch collection, archaic, almost primordial notes are combined in a style characterized by traditions reinterpreted in a modern key: elegant and refined Afro-Asiatic, Central American and Zen references are the expression of a nomadic lifestyle that recalls travel and its sense of freedom. A mood that, at first glance, may seem at odds with the contemporary context 2.0 but that is, instead, a perfect blend that combines the most material and introspective aspect of the past with that most modern and public of the present. A desire to proclaim that we are at the dawn of the future, pioneers in the vanguard.

Asia and Africa are the stars in this contemporary return to the archaic. The Chanel cruise for Spring-Summer 2015 is already emblematic due to the location selected by Karl Lagerfeld: The Island in Dubai is pure ethnic futurism. All sitting on cushions on the floor in contact with nomadic encampments in the desert, but in an ultra-modern structure dominating the spectacular skyline of the Emirate. Original and eccentric details calibrated to particular elements of great style, floral motifs, accessories, broad shapes and warm colours in an East that is always present. Even in the exotic Arabian princess makeup. “My concept of the 21st-century orient is romantic, without folkloristic touches�, says Lagerfeld, who thus continues and develops the previous collection of this winter, the cruise collection presented by Lagerfeld in a supermarket that turned the spotlight on a wealth of hairstyle ideas, looks of different textures and applications in a wild style of small braids and dreadlocks.

The same mood is reprised in the cruise collection from Louis Vuitton for Spring-Summer 2015, designed for the second time by Nicolas Ghesquière (described as a return to the origins of luxury combined with the concept of travel). It is even more pronounced in Givenchy, where the shapes, colours and patterns have a strong ethnic flavour: the extensive use of leather and fur and hairstyles featuring crossed braids are an intercultural journey through Japan, Africa and America. It is fashion searching for influences and styles from the various cultures that have escaped from a savage globalization. From clothes to hairstyles and accessories. Like Olivier Rousteing for Balmain next Spring-Summer: Details in string, ethnic necklaces inspired by the Masai, maxi-belts and hip-hop style earrings (with a Rihanna testimonial).

Sculptural design and travel, earth colours with organic highlights, brilliant but dark tones and an entirely natural look: it is a trend with dark browns, hazelnut, cream or dark red being the most obvious colours. Even the accessories, used almost excessively, are a mix of raw materials and chromed or mirror surfaces, and thus able to synthesize the ethnic and futuristic soul of the mood. Along with the make-up, thanks to extensive use of bronze, silver and gold halos. In this sense, the hair fashion presents a less rigorous style with more freedom of expression and freer forms. The heads create more side volume or are elongated, almost recreating hair turbans or Mohican crests and, in some cases, defined by small braids and wild but very elegant alternative textures. Hair colours include ash or ice blonde, golds and shades of brown. A constant return to the origins that looks to the future, but not before being compared with the world that surrounds us. “La vera casa dell’uomo non è una casa, è la strada. La vita stessa un viaggio da fare a piedi”. Bruce Chatwin nasce nel 1940, in piena Seconda guerra mondiale, da una famiglia agiata di Sheffield, Inghilterra. Già da bambino manifesta grande interesse per la geografia e la letteratura. Finito il college non prosegue gli studi e inizia a lavorare con successo presso Sotheby’s.

Così Bruce Chatwin abbandona il suo lavoro di esperto d’arte espressionista e inizia a girare il mondo con un taccuino Moleskine e una macchina fotografica. “L’unico vero viaggio verso la scoperta non consiste nella ricerca di nuovi paesaggi, ma nell’avere nuovi occhi” (Marcel Proust). Quasi per una sindrome di Stendhal da cecità, quando ancora lavorava per Sotheby’s una mattina racconta d’essersi svegliato cieco a causa di tanta arte, un oculista lo rassicura: non c’era niente che non andasse nei suoi occhi, consigliandogli però di smettere di osservare i quadri così da vicino e di rivolgere piuttosto lo sguardo verso “l’orizzonte”.

Nel 1973 viene assunto dal Sunday Times e inizia a girare il mondo senza più fermarsi. “Perché divento irrequieto dopo un mese nello stesso posto, insopportabile dopo due?” (ne L’alternativa nomade - Lettere 1948-1989). Il malessere da staticità e routine contrapposto a una inedita leggerezza nelle descrizione di luoghi e persone. “Non chiamatemi scrittore di viaggio, io non riporto impressioni: solo cose viste”. Raccontandone l’anima e l’essenza, con il suo volto da Che Guevara bianco, il fascino del vagabondo e la morte giovane, diventa subito un mito. E con lui torna prepotentemente in auge la letteratura del viaggio: Afghanistan e Africa, Australia, Tibet, Cina, Unione Sovietica, Australia... Gira il mondo dimostrando grande facilità e felicità di scrittura: i suoi reportage sono al tempo stesso riflessioni interiori, diari e analisi antropologiche. Esploratore, etnologo, antropologo, fotografo, archeologo e giornalista, Chatwin si è fatto amare non solo per ciò che ha scritto, ma per la felicità con cui lo ha scritto.

Quando intervista a Parigi l’architetto Eillen Gray nota nel suo studio una mappa della Patagonia. “Ho sempre desiderato andarci”, le disse. “Anche io”, rispose lei, “Ci vada, al posto mio”. Parte di getto e dai sei mesi in Sudamerica viene fuori il racconto-simbolo di tutti i viaggi, In Patagonia, il suo primo libro, romanzo, saggio filosofico e resoconto insieme, ancora oggi un best-seller, da allora centinaia di ristampe e milioni di copie vendute in tutto il mondo. Una scrittura potentissima, insieme racconto, storia, antropologia e reportage fotografico. Dandy e mistico, la sua resta un’esistenza irrequieta e modellata sui nomadi, quasi un’ossessione per lui: “Ciò che mi interessava di più erano gli individui sfuggiti alla classificazione archeologica, i nomadi, che avevano lasciato tracce sul terreno e non avevano costruito piramidi”. Amante di una vita randagia e moderno cantastorie, nei suoi racconti attingeva dalle tradizioni e dal passato per creare miti futuri. Fin dai titoli delle sue opere: Le vie dei canti, Anatomia dell’irrequietezza, Che ci faccio qui?

“Ossimoro vivente: un gay che si sposò, un nomade legatissimo a Londra, il primogenito d’un piccolo avvocato di Birmingham che volle essere cittadino del mondo, collezionista di tutto e proprietario di nulla, austero ed eccessivo, solitario e socievole, indifferente alle scomodità del deserto eppure pazzo per le vestaglie di seta, comodo col suo zainetto e talvolta accompagnato da bagagli che Murray Bail paragonava a quelli di Greta Garbo, cantore degli ultimi della terra e intanto amico dei Guggenheim, laburista appassionato nel frattempo d’araldica” (Francesco Battistini, Sette).

Ammalatosi di Aids alla fine degli anni ’80, negli ultimi mesi di vita si trasferisce a Nizza dove muore a soli 48 anni. Così lo ricorda lo scrittore iraniano Salman Rushdie al suo funerale, lo stesso giorno che era stata emanata contro di lui la fatwa di Khomeini per i suoi Versetti satanici: “Avevamo attraversato insieme l’Australia, gl’invidiavo l’idea di leggere i sentieri come uno spartito, tanti spaghetti d’Iliade e d’Odissea”. “Non è uno scrittore ma uno stato d’animo che si è fatto zaino di cuoio, piedi, occhi e visione del mondo” (Marcello Veneziani, il Giornale). Viaggia solo chi osa farlo.

Bruce Chatwin i don’t report impressions, only what I saw...

“Man’s real home is not a house, but the Road, and that life itself is a journey to be walked on foot”. Bruce Chatwin was born in 1940, in the middle of the Second World War, into a wealthy Sheffield, England family. From an early age, he demonstrated great interest in geography and literature. After college, he abandoned his studies and began a successful career at Sotheby’s.

So Bruce Chatwin abandoned his job as an expert in expressionist art and began to travel the world with a Moleskin notebook and a camera. “The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes” (Marcel Proust). Almost like Stendhal’s syndrome with blindness, when he was still working for Sotheby’s, he said that he woke up one morning blind due to so much art and an ophthalmologist reassured him: there was nothing wrong with his eyes, advising him to stop looking at paintings from so close and to look, instead, towards the “horizon”.

In 1973, the Sunday Times hired him and he began to travel the world, without ever stopping. “Why do I become restless after a month in a single place, unbearable after two?” (in The Nomadic Alternative - Letters 1948-1989). The discomfort of immobility and routine opposed to an unprecedented lightness in the description of places and people. “Don’t call me a travel writer, I do not report impressions: only what I’ve seen”. Writing of the soul and essence of those things seen, with his face of a white Che Guevara, the charm of a young vagabond and, because of his early death, he soon became a legend. And with him, travel literature came forcefully back in vogue: Afghanistan, Africa, Australia, Tibet, China, the Soviet Union. He travelled the world writing with great ease and contentment: his reports are, at the same time, inner reflections, diaries and anthropological analysis. Explorer, ethnologist, anthropologist, photographer, archaeologist and journalist, Chatwin was loved not only for what he wrote, but also for the contentment with which he wrote it.

When he interviewed architect Eileen Gray in Paris, he noted a map of Patagonia in her studio. “I’ve always wanted to go there", he said. “Me, too”, she replied, “Go there in my place”. He left immediately and his six months in South America produced a story-symbol of all journeys. In Patagonia, his first book, novel, philosophical essay and guide all in one, is still a best-seller today, since then hundreds of reprintings and millions of copies sold worldwide. A very powerful document that combines narrative, history, anthropology and photographic reportage. A dandy and mystic, his was a restless existence modelled on nomads, almost an obsession: “What interested me most were the individuals who escaped archaeological classification, the nomads, who left traces on the land and didn't build pyramids”. A lover of the wandering life and modern storyteller, his stories drew on the traditions and myths of the past to create the future. Even in the titles of his works: The Songlines, Anatomy of Restlessness, What am I doing here?

“A living oxymoron: a gay man who got married, a nomad tied to London, the eldest son of a small Birmingham attorney who wanted to be a citizen of the world, a collector of everything and owner of nothing, austere and excessive, solitary and gregarious, indifferent to the discomfort of the desert yet crazy for silk dressing gowns, comfortable with his backpack and sometimes accompanied by luggage that Murray Bail compared to those of Greta Garbo, singer of the last of the earth and in the meantime a friend of the Guggenheims and a Labourite with a passion for heraldry” (Francesco Battistini, Sette).

He fell ill with AIDS at the end of the 1980s and spent the last months of his life in Nice, where he died at the age of 48. This is how he was remembered by the Iranian writer Salman Rushdie at his funeral, the same day the Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa against him for his Satanic Verses: “We crossed Australia together and I envied his idea of reading the paths like a score, so many strands of spaghetti of the Iliad and Odyssey”. “He is not a writer but a state of mind that is made of a leather backpack, feet, eyes and a vision of the world" (Marcello Veneziani, il Giornale). Only he who dares, travels.

The eternal lightness of the material

“The sculptor Giuseppe Capitano controls his tools with his mind but without suppressing the inner breath that regulates their operation. The young artist understands that the house of sculpture defines its perimeter on the front of surface.

Here are gathered all the thicknesses, inner eyes, interstices and secret corners that denote the spatiality and temporality of the dwelling of art” (Achille Bonito Oliva).

Giuseppe Capitano was born in Campobasso in 1974. He mainly works using natural materials and techniques, modelling beautiful sculptures from hemp, sometimes with stone or marble, and often draws on paper. One evident personality trait is the importance of staying on a level of emotion and truth: “If something moves you, it is close to you”. His many exhibitions include a one-man show at the Mart - Museum of Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, and a group show at the 54th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. An artist, he has his studio in Rome, where he lives in the San Lorenzo district.

In the beginning, used as a “hairstyle”, then came all the rest: “Hemp is a material that I began to use as hair on the sculpture of a head, so I began to work it like a surface”. The great critic Achille Bonito Oliva defines his work “A visible house, Capitano's psycho-mental sculpture does not refuse to live in it and does not evacuate the material”. The parrot, wolf, heads, hair, the hand that holds the threads of fate, the leaf ... Metal structures covered with hemp, the real skin of his works, which are never standardized because “Each work stands on its own. Uniqueness is essential because only uniqueness contains the gesture. A repeated gesture is debased, drained”. While, in his sculptures, the touch is always harmonious, but slightly controlled.

Light, as in Something Yellow, his exhibition at the Mart in Rovereto, sculptures and installations that are formed by the union of two elements, “one that represents a broader, non-human, time scale, marble; the other, lemon, a seasonal fruit, as the precariousness of becoming. The union of these two elements subverts a primary temporality, which is that of permanence. Only what is harder remains; and with this, I would like to symbolize the fact that life wins over non-life, the organic over the inorganic”.

To gently remember the value of existence: “We weigh things in terms of non-life, but instead life and temporality are a value”. The magic of the work of art as a necessity for the artist, in his case “comes from the utopian need to give life to inanimate objects. Every artist is an alchemist, even the painter who touches the pigments, behind a work, there is always a process of transformation. And this transformation is even more interesting when it is not a story, but it manifests itself as an effect, a result, and not as a route of arrival”. In this way, Giuseppe Capitano lives the genesis and labour of his works and, by using simple materials that evoke a world that is archaic and modern at the same time, lightly moulds them, harmonizing them to his soul and our contemporary world. “Everything is built by hand, with the distances of a hand able to implicate the gaze. Symmetry and proportion governing the system, highlighting the existence of a gentle design that accompanies the executive process. The body and the mind preside over the foundation of this sculpture. Which has body and concept” (Achille Bonito Oliva). Form and substance in the perfect harmony that is created between his works and the environment in which they are located. Exposed there to be admired.

“Lo scultore Giuseppe Capitano controlla con la mente i suoi utensili ma senza reprimere l’interno respiro che ne regola il funzionamento. Il giovane artista ha capito che la casa della scultura svolge il proprio perimetro nella frontalità della superficie. Qui si addensano tutti gli spessori, gli occhi interni, gli interstizi e gli angoli segreti che denotano spazialità e temporalità della dimora dell’arte” (Achille Bonito Oliva).

Giuseppe Capitano nasce a Campobasso nel 1974. Lavora prevalentemente utilizzando materiali e tecniche naturali, modella splendide sculture di canapa, alle volte insieme a pietra o marmo, e disegna spesso su carta. Un tratto evidente della sua personalità è l’importanza di mantenersi sempre su un piano emozionale e vero: “Se una cosa ti emoziona ti è vicina”. Tra le tante sue mostre, una personale al Mart - Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, ed una collettiva alla 54esima Biennale di Arte contemporanea di Venezia per il 150° anniversario dell’Unità d’Italia. Artista, ha il suo studio a Roma, dove vive nel quartiere San Lorenzo.

In principio era “un’acconciatura”, poi è arrivato tutto il resto: “La canapa è un materiale che ho cominciato a utilizzare a mo’ di capelli su una scultura di una testa, così ho iniziato a lavorarla come superficie”. Il grande critico Achille Bonito Oliva definisce le sue opere, “Una casa a vista, la scultura psico-mentale di Capitano non rinuncia ad abitarla e non evacua la materia”. Il pappagallo, il lupo, le teste, le chiome, la mano che regge i fili del destino, la foglia... Strutture di metallo rivestite di canapa, la vera pelle dei suoi lavori, che non sono mai serie, perché “Ogni opera è a sé stante. L’unicità è fondamentale perché solo l’unicità contiene il gesto. Il gesto ripetuto è svilito, svuotato”. Invece nelle sue sculture il tocco è sempre armonico, controllato ma lieve.

Leggero come in Qualcosa di Giallo, la sua mostra al Mart di Rovereto, sculture e installazioni che prendono forma dall’unione di due elementi, “l’uno che rappresenta una scala temporale più larga, non umana, il marmo; l’altra il limone, un frutto delle stagioni, come la precarietà del divenire. L’unione di questi due elementi sovverte una temporalità elementare che è quella della permanenza. Permarrebbe solo ciò che è più duro; e con questo vorrei simboleggiare il fatto che la vita vince sulla non-vita, l’organico sull’inorganico”.

A ricordare con dolcezza il valore dell’esistenza: “Pesiamo le cose in funzione della non-vita, ma invece la vita e la temporalità sono un valore”. La magia dell’opera d’arte come necessità per l’artista, nel suo caso “nasce dal bisogno utopico di dare la vita ad oggetti inanimati. Ogni artista è un alchimista, anche il pittore che tocca i pigmenti, dietro un’opera c’è sempre un processo di trasformazione. E questa trasformazione è ancora più interessante quando non è racconto, ma si manifesta come effetto, risultato, e non come percorso di arrivo”. Giuseppe Capitano vive così la genesi e il lavoro delle sue opere, e utilizzando materiali semplici che richiamano un mondo arcaico e moderno allo stesso tempo, li modella con leggerezza armonizzandoli al suo animo e al nostro contemporaneo. “Tutto è costruito a mano, con le distanze di una mano capace di implicare lo sguardo. Simmetria e proporzione reggono l’impianto, evidenziano l’esistenza di un progetto dolce che accompagna il processo esecutivo. Il corpo e la mente presiedono la fondazione di questa scultura. Che ha corpo e concetto” (Achille Bonito Oliva). Forma e sostanza, nella perfetta armonia che si crea tra le sue opere e l’ambiente dove sono collocate.

Lì esposte per farsi ammirare.

Hotel Straf L’elegante fusione tra design Made in Italy e arte contemporanea

“Svincolarsi dall’abituale serialità impersonale degli alberghi”, una delle esigenza che ha guidato l’Architetto e Interior-designer Vincenzo De Cotiis nell’ideare, concepire e realizzare lo Straf Milano. Il set dello shooting The Italian Touch non è solo uno spazio elegante e futuristico, ma la perfetta fusione fra arte e design contemporaneo con una struttura ricettiva di lusso.

“Immagino lo Straf quasi come un’installazione, un concept da cui sono partito per la scelta dei materiali dai molteplici riferimenti a correnti artistiche contemporanee come l’Arte povera, mentre il modo di trattarli appartiene a una metodologia progettuale profondamente legata all’etica/estetica che deriva dal riutilizzo e dalla ricollocazione in nuovi contesti, di oggetti e componenti di recupero”, così De Cotiis ne descrive la particolare atmosfera.

Interni minimal, ambienti con pochi elementi ma di grande effetto ed elevata artigianalità di spazi e arredi, lo Straf si avvicina inevitabilmente ad un’opera d’arte per unicità ed esclusività. I materiali combinati secondo due filoni principali, in ardesia oppure in cemento abbinato all’ottone brunito, con la presenza di pareti e specchi che moltiplicano virtualmente gli spazi, fanno da perfetto sfondo al mood etnico-futuristico della collezione. Così il cemento utilizzato per scale e pavimenti, l’ottone ossidato, l’ardesia tagliata a spacco, le garze invecchiate e strappate a mano quasi a ricordare le opere di Alberto Burri, regalano un’atmosfera calda a dispetto di materiali duri e di provenienza industriale. Perché ogni dettaglio, ogni finitura, subisce sofisticate elaborazioni.

Un gioiello fruibile a tutti, uno spazio con il Bar Straf ancora più aperto alla città, finestra di tendenza su Milano e l’Europa dal cartellone fitto di mostre, installazioni e dj-set. Pezzi di recupero come il grande lampadario in plexi verde-mela anni ’70, i pannelli sagomati in vetroresina riciclata con le lenti ottiche incastonate, gli sgabelli e il divano vintage in pelle marrone convivono in un’atmosfera sempre viva e vibrante, decisamente a vocazione internazionale e con picchi di stile eccelsi. Una opera d’arte che risponde perfettamente al bisogno di un’utenza evoluta e che vuole trovarsi a proprio agio in un ambiente sofisticato: ogni luce, colore, materiale di Straf Milano è studiato a creare un’atmosfera unica. Persone e spazi, volumi, ambienti.

Come in un’installazione d’arte contemporanea.

“Breaking free from the impersonal standardization of hotels”, was one of the requirements that guided architect and interior designer Vincenzo De Cotis in conceiving, designing and building Straf Milan. The shooting set of the The Italian Touch collection is not only an elegant and futuristic space, but the perfect fusion between art and contemporary design with a luxurious hospitality structure. “I imagine the Straf as almost an installation, a concept from which I started for the choice of materials, with multiple references to modern art movements such as Arte Povera, while the way of processing them belongs to a design methodology deeply linked to the ethics/aesthetics that derives from the reuse and relocation in new contexts of recovered objects and components”. This is the way that De Cotis describes its particular atmosphere.

Featuring minimal interiors, environments with few very impactful elements and high craftsmanship of spaces and furnishings, the Straf can inevitably be qualified as a work of art for its uniqueness and exclusivity. Materials combined according to two main concepts, slate or cement in combination with burnished brass, as well as walls and mirrors that visually multiply the size of spaces, are the perfect backdrop to the ethnic-futuristic mood of the collection. The cement used for stairs and floors, the oxidized brass, the cut and split slate, and the gauze, aged and hand-torn as if to recall the works of Alberto Burri, create a warm atmosphere despite the hard, industrial materials. Because every detail, every finish, has undergone sophisticated processing.

This jewel is accessible to all and, with the Straf Bar, the space is even more open to the city, a trendy window on Milan and Europe with a full program of shows, installations and DJ sets. Recovered pieces like the large, apple-green, 1970s chandelier, the panels moulded from recycled fibreglass with embedded optical lenses, and the vintage brown leather stools and sofa coexist in an atmosphere that is always lively and vibrant, with a decisively international vocation and peaks of lofty style.

It is a work of art that responds perfectly to the needs of evolved consumers who want to feel at ease in a sophisticated environment. In fact, every light, colour and material used in Straf Milan is designed to create a unique atmosphere. People and spaces, volumes, environments. Like a contemporary art installation.

Spettacoli, musica, sfilate e nuove tendenze tra il Palazzo dei congressi di Riccione e la discoteca Altromondo Studio’s. Il 30 e 31 marzo scorsi la riviera romagnola è tornata ad ospitare i Kemon Days, da quasi vent’anni evento unico nel suo genere: due giornate a tema e con gli show di grandi hair-stylist italiani e internazionali in pedana e a sorpresa, durante il party, la “atipica” presentazione della Evolution Collection The Italian Touch con cui è stato approfondito per la Primavera-Estate 2014 il trend Grunge già presentato nella Master Collection lo scorso settembre.

Mille persone coinvolte tra spettatori, staff, spettacoli e organizzatori; ospiti da Europa, Asia, Medio ed Estremo Oriente; quasi dieci ore di show sul palco del Palazzo dei Congressi di Riccione intervallate dal party di domenica sera alla discoteca Altromondo Studio’s.

Sono solo alcuni numeri della 19esima edizione dei Kemon Days, un successo di pubblico e spettacoli che ha nuovamente portato sulla riviera romagnola l’eccellenza dell’hair styling italiano di Kemon di fronte al mondo, il più importante evento aziendale dell’anno, che darà appuntamento a tutti nel 2015. E sarà l’edizione dei vent’anni: due decenni di Kemon Days di assoluta eccellenza italiana dell’hair styling.

Performances, music, fashion shows and new trends at Riccione’s Conference Centre and Altromondo disco. Last 30 and 31 March, the Romagna Riviera played host again to Kemon Days, for almost twenty years the only event of its kind. Two theme days, shows by top Italian and international hairstylists and, during the party, the surprise and “offbeat” presentation of The Italian Touch Evolution Collection, which delved deeper into the Grunge trend that was already presented last September in the Master Collection.

A thousand people involved between spectators, staff, shows and organizers; guests from Europe, Asia and the Middle and Far East; nearly ten hours of shows on stage, with a break for the party Sunday night at the Altromodo Studios disco.

These are just a few numbers from the 19th Kemon Days, making it an all-around success. From the Italian Adriatic Riviera, the event once again brought the excellence of Kemon's Italian hairstyling to the world stage. And in 2015 it will be the mustattend happening for all. In fact, the company’s most important annual event will be celebrating its 20th anniversary: two decades of Kemon Days and Italian hairstyling excellence.
