The People of Maesteg Pillars

Maesteg, a small town at the nothern end of the Llynfi Valley was built around the mining and iron works bringing people from all corners but keeping its strong Welsh heritage and identity.

From its industrial past the community has grown into a thriving centre creating a town of personalities that gives the town its strength.

This body of work is to showcase the linchpins of the town that have done and will continue to keep the town going.

With special thanks to the people and communities of Maesteg for their participation in this project.

To everyone who communicated with me in finding all the participants, my greatest thanks to you all.

This book isn’t just for the people who have been photographed but for the whole town for enabling me to take the pictures and for encouraging me to keep going.

With this project, I set out to showcase the good that happens in Maesteg and the community is something that is hugely important to us. I have achieved this and more due to the people being completely and utterly supportive in my adventure of showing what Maesteg Town is really like behind the scenes and despite the bad press we recieve being a small town in the South Wales Valleys.
