Wat is Keller PIVOT door itself?

Originally released as one of a kind

The development of the Keller PIVOT door began in 2015 and mass production in 2017.

The initial task was to integrate the magnetic socket for pivoting door system minimalist profiles so that the door merges with the glazing around it and does not differ in any way from the glass and profile of the conjoint glass wall.

9

The first revolutionary Keller minimal windows® PIVOT door series had the unique magnetic weather seal at the top end and the base ensuring exceptional sealing. When closed, the seal snaps up and covers the gap between glass door sections, preventing any water leakage. In addition, the door has been subjected to stringent security testing, so excellent burglary protection, up to class Rc2, can be verified.

1st PIVOT door on the market with magnetic weather seal innovation

The large, imposing doorways can be configured in multiple design options, as single or double openings. The pivot axis can be configured from the outer perimeter to the center of the doorway.

Closing speed and resistance is adjustable and the design includes a hold-open mechanism for effortless, user-friendly operation. The invisible stainless-steel pivot bearings at the top end and base guarantee smooth pivoting action.

Commitment for the greater good

How the collaboration came about?

We have come up with the idea of sharing efforts in support of the fight against cancer, giving us more or less the hand for developing something further which is a KELLER product - the PIVOT door. A wall opening which will be built once. And never again

Exploring the doors and architectural archetypes of different geography and eras

Full live presentation of Zaha Hadid Architects, December 8 2022, Brussels

❝Having all architectural scales and all types in the pipeline of the Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) bureau, it could be initially a natural thing to take something on that has the scale of a door, especially the PIVOT door. However, when examining the bureau's records and designs, it was discovered that ZHA rarely ever actually designed a door, that gives a challenge to design a door less ordinary and less simple than how it happens everywhere.❞

What is to be revolutionary design for PIVOT door?

21 Core
21
guidelines for designing a new PIVOT door

1Conceptual difference between a regular door and a PIVOT. A regular door, as a certain history or what we consider as a regular frame door, it fits in the wall, is expressed often, is slightly recessed into the wall. So, it's an element in its own, which is part of a whole elevation. Pivot door is effectively a piece of wall, that pivots or moves - and it is frameless. It is completely or has the potential to be completely integrated into a wall elevation.

23

Express dynamic elements of the door.

So not only as does it moves, as a dynamic fees of wall, but also as it moves - it changes its appearance. Depending on the angle that you look at the door, it would appear differently. It would appear more or less transparent, maybe more or less dark, and more or less reflective – the appearance of the door is never the same depending on its position.

2

OUTSIDE

Peeling in

INSIDE

Peeling out 25

Scalability.

The size of the new designed door is not fixed. It can be scaled up and down, up to 3 meters high, 1.8 meters wide. Whatever designed, it had to be scalable, without changing or jeopardizing the design language and the topics ZHA wanted to convey.

The door as a continuous part of a wallextendable, repeatable, and a part of an elevation, ideally, rather than a standalone door.

3 4
3 27

Playing with depth - not two-dimensional design, but three-dimensional.

Rationalization of the geometry for greater cost-effectiveness.

5 6
3 29

Integrating clear gloss, to make the entrance more transparent with a screen appearance than a traditional door - which looks completely different at night when it shines from the inside.

Supplement with artificial light to accentuate the geometry.

7 8
31

9Imagined dissolving the entire wall when repeating the door along it - to get a seamless connection from the inside to the outside.

33

Rising hands –

a symbol of joint efforts for healing

❝White is innocent. People being attacked by Cancerthey just got it innocent. The design we settled on, among others, and presented to the audience is something which is spectacular. And when you just mirror the weave - to the other side you see holding hands. We were just going for what could it mean if you just see the wall in front of you and this was the easy choice - this should be election for this charity initiative❞
