Dragonspikes Martial Arts
The architecture of my MMA fighting school draws inspiration from the unique defensive behavior of a bearded dragon, specifically observed when the dragon puffs its beard. This behavior, serving as a protective mechanism against potential threats, becomes a central motif guiding the design and philosophy of the institution.
The school is dedicated to imparting comprehensive knowledge in self-defense, strategically integrating defensive tactics similar to those employed by the bearded dragon when facing predators. The deliberate closure of the school’s “spikes” during events symbolizes this tactical approach, emphasizing the importance of conserving the dragon’s natural habitat.

02 Studio Project
Gloom
to Gleam
The youth hub, drawing context from Cathay Green’s profound historical significance, aims to transform a site once marked by severe atrocities during the Japanese occupation into a vibrant center of joy and growth. During that dark period, Cathay Green and its surrounding buildings, such as the YMCA and The Cathay, were used for torture and public displays of violence, leaving a lasting scar on Singapore’s collective memory.
By reinterpreting this historically painful space, the project seeks to break free from the past and create an environment that fosters happiness, freedom, and resilience. The youth hub will offer a place where young people can gather, grow, and thrive, transforming a symbol of suffering into one of celebration and positivity. Through this transformation, the youth hub aims to honor the past while focusing on building a hopeful and vibrant future.

The project reimagines the Old Kallang Airport as a modern village, tackling the challenges of rapid modernization, generational gaps, and the rise of technology that threaten Singapore’s social cohesion and sustainable development. By integrating technology, it fosters a flexible and connected lifestyle while preserving traditional values. Elevated "stilts" form the foundation for customizable living spaces, encouraging vibrant community interactions in alleys and shared areas. The repurposed Old Kallang Airport becomes a multifunctional hub, serving as a town hall, market, and educational space, blending heritage and innovation to unite diverse communities and promote a sustainable, cohesive way of living.

THE TIDAL TRAIL
As part of our group project, the rejuvenated Bukit Merah Town Centre is analogous to the story of the swordfish in Bukit Merah. The folklore crafts a series of spaces that connect the lower plaza to the upper plaza. It is designed to catalyse bonding within the community through multi-generational engagement spaces throughout the day. Navigating through the swordfish trail leads to interactive spaces where banana pavilions bring shade and comfort in the tropical climate. The swordfish playground narrates the legendary battle against the swordfish. Peeking through the kaleidoscope, the younger generation is able to discover and learn about the folklore while the older residents find comfort and joy in spaces that honour their memories. At the heart of Bukit Merah town centre all the connecting elements converge at the Meandering Hill. Sloping down towards the central plaza, a vibrant place is created for festivals, performances and flea markets with sheltered walkways and pavilions for the community

INTERNSHIP ARCHITECTURE

INTERNSHIP
During my internships, I assisted in preparing tender drawings, drafting standard detail annexes, developing 3D models, and contributing to master planning. I had to learn SketchUp independently as the company used it for design work, which enhanced my adaptability and technical skills. Additionally, I expanded my knowledge of Lumion, improving my 3D visualization and rendering capabilities.
In a fast-paced environment, I developed strong independence, often solving problems without immediate guidance. I also improved my communication skills by collaborating effectively with colleagues. Beyond office work, I gained valuable insights from site visits, supplier meetings, and client discussions, which deepened my understanding of project execution and stakeholder engagement in the architectural field.
